Good point and an unexpected one. We were still quite defensive and safety first but at least the boys showed that they give a shark and fought for the jersey. In a tough season where things haven't gone our way that's the minimum you ask for.
But let's not gloss over this like many did with the Macarthur win... take the point, pat on the back and move on.
Take the draw and satisfied with the fight shown (the bare minimum we ask for as fans).. it doesn’t help our season in anyway.. show more of this and we will be ending the season happier..
Anyone else clock this foul from Lolley. Seems like a red card given how they are treating studs above the foot. Wasnt even given a yellow.20250316_215113.jpg3.72 MB
I didn't think we'd come back from conceding early again. Bloody gutsy. Impressed with LKH keeping going 90 min in midfield. Rufer back to his best. Kosta and Chico clicking. Sutts never took a backward step. Well done boys.
Rufer and Kosta excellent. Sutton and Sheridan very solid. Good team performance. But why play Kelly Heald in midfield. So negative it just doesn't make any sense to me.
Better showing, especially at the end with Nagasawa and Ishige coming on, Josh with some important saves, and we earn a point. Don't think this result changes much though, Chiefy still definitely under pressure.
At least more people might be eager to show up for the WS game after this result, and hopefully Chiefy will do some serious reflecting and evaluating during the IB.
It is only the context of our season from hell that has you saying something like this. We were second best by some distance tonight and didn't deserve that point. Sydney will be unbelievably gutted to not beat us and this could easily be the last nail in Ufuk's coffin, he's more likely to lose his job than Chiefy is.
But yes, I guess even this game represents a massive improvement from us. Nixieboys222

Calling people illiterate when you’ve called Nagasawa “Kurosawa” is crazy work
Illiteracy is an inability to read and/or use public systems. That’s fairly clearly not illiteracy. You gotta know the Phoenix squad for starters.
Anyway, f- you and all too bud. Again, if you don’t have any interest in what I’m posting you don’t have to answer.
And as above if you don’t understand what I’m talking about, and your response to that is wuuuut? hurhur go perform for your buds in the pub or whatever. Cos that’s not a conversation it’s you and your pals being tools and stroking each other off.
His tactics were still negative and passive, the players just stepped up and showed some guts for once, plus Sydney missed a bunch of chances and our keeper had a great game.

Sydney are a strong chance to win the 2nd tier AFC comp. If they do Talay will likely keep his job even if they miss the ALM playoffs.
And that Nix goal, was a lovely one. I wonder how good a Rufer-Rojas-Chico-Barba spine could be if they had a proper pre season together? Though yeah not a bunch of spring chickens. Rufer (29 in June) the youngest.

Segacic is the player. I remember that happening and thinking it looked suspect. Probably Sutton trying to play on made the ref incorrectly not make much of it, and not sure if it was even called a foul or the very next challenge.
Well that was fun, even just to see the Sydney coachs head explode. We cant get top 6 but we can ruin the chances of a few other teams. We were outclassed but showed great spirit and scored a nice goal. Only 47% passing accuracy in second half, mainly poor by senior players. Great saves by Josh but ffs, seven goal kicks went out of play.

You've certainly had better nights posting on here Martin mate 🤣 finishing the season with a bang I guess
well it wasnt a loss, which is what it was looking like after the first 25 or so. 15 minutes in the first hald and some ok play in the seocnd actually lookied like the style of play Chief has been going on about all season. Geraldes the key - who I guess is the closet to what rojas should have been for us. Rufer looked good again - pity he is now on a ban for 5 yellows on the 29th. Still dont get why cheif is playing LKH and Sheridan in the midfield?!?!?!

Remember to stay hydrated mate, that hangover ought to be a killer
Not a heavy loss but a draw isn't exactly inspiring. And to be honest any results we get from now on can't be taken too seriously anyway. When the pressure is off you can play with more freedom and it changes the mentality. Nothing's on the line so you can just play, whereas if your playing for something you gotta deal with pressure.
So yea, nothing to read into too much from here on.
Happy with the point - but we were still bad. We really benefited from Sydeny being tired with their heavy schedule to them having an off night in front of goal - hell, their CB even cleared a shot on the goal line for us by getting in the way of a team mates shot.
Olu made some good saves, but also spilt one towards the end that could of easily ended up in the back of the net off a follow through - and his passing is sharke.
I don't mind LKH in the midfield - he has some technical ability and wasn't afraid to try and beat a player to make space, something we lack in the middle. However, I have no idea what Sheridan brings to the middle of the park in Chiefs eyes.
Our passing last night was horrible - Payne was particularly wasteful for a senior pro in the team.
Where was Rojas - fit enough to start last week, not even on the bench this week? I didn't see anything noted around an injury??

Not sure why I thought it was lolley when you can quite clearly see different from the still.
Yeah I reckon the fact he didn't stay down plays against VAR looking. But it look very dicey challenge live.

I'll definitely take a point out of Sydney away!
I started watching the game in a cranky mood after spending the first 5 minutes of the game fudgeing about on the Sky Go app to get the game loaded... Just in time for Sydney's goal.
Agree with some of the sentiment here on Oluwayemi - great instinctive shot stopping, poor handling at times and even worse distribution.
Ironically we started to press higher up than we have in months in the 33 degree heat in Sydney. We also played more direct this time so it was nice to see an actual different game plan. Although, same problem persists: 1 shot on target in the game fortunately resulting in a goal. Brings our total to 3 shots on target in the past 3 games...
Geraldes is class and would be good to keep him next season.
I can understand benching Nagasawa but LKH was an interesting replacement, what's become of Conchie? I don't understand benching Ishige, second top in goal contributions for the club this season despite his lack of physicality.
Wonder how long Rojas is out for now, what a write-off season for him...
Oluwayemi is such a confusing player. Pulls off multiple save of the season contenders and puts every single goal kick out for a throw in.
So let's put another player on goal kicks and not play out from the back with the keeper? Not every team in football has to do it! How about playing to our players strengths hey?

No we have to play the way Chief wants to play! The players just need time to gel - they are trying 100%
I think there was too much sentiment in resigning Rojas rather than a good hard look at his injury record. A cost benefit analysis would look a bit sad. When he did play he looked really good.Since2007

Think you may find his injury record isnt as bad as youare trying to paint. For most of his A League career it wasnt an issue it has been worse as he has got older but he hasnt had extended periods of being out injured like this season.
