Seeing as we kinda have no chance of making finals I'm interested in seeing how the team plays. Do they throw caution to the wind or do they completely lose all motivation?
After two must win final games, they must be exhausted. I think they take it easy, give the young players some minutes. Rest the All Whites players for Friday. Fingers crossed it’s a bit less embarrassing than 6:1, 4:1. If not the young players learned some valuable lessons.

havent we been giving the young players minutes all season?
I just want something exciting to happen. Give us an LBS goal, or a good performance from another youngster. Have us take a few shots and break the press more than twice... Just have the camera pan into the other team's half please!
Been a long week so won’t be watching at that time. Current performance levels and results don’t make me feel like I should sacrifice sleep. Hope to hell the team have had a come to Jesus moment and put in a surprisingly good performance.
Hoping Ishige is fit enough to start and the likes of Rojas, Rufer & Geraldes are a bit fitter and sharper than last week.
I just want to see an XI that makes sense. Sheridan in midfield doesn't make sense. Piper starting doesn't make sense. Leaving Nagasawa on the bench doesn't make sense. Also doesn't make sense to start Walker or LBS either.
Oluwayemi still out (Covid?). GSR finally fit. Might as well give him some good mins rest of the season. Speed up his development for next and beyond.

Alex Grant (1st time) and Anthony Caceres named in the Socceroos
First game in the FIFA window, Australia host Indonesia at the SFS next Thursday March 20th.
Does Popa ask Talay not to start either Grant and/or Caceres? Nix game being only 3 days prior a vital WC qualifier. Socceroos with lots of injuries. 31 yr old Grant could even start on debut?
Cáceres was in the starting lineup for Socceroos last game against Bahrain in November. Both played the full 90 mins against Jeonbok last night.
Lucky they're playing us then! Alex Grant can have a cup of tea, read a book, sit on a sunbed as knowing us he wont be involved much in the action as we hardly attack. coochiee

He must be under immense pressure. Not sure I would want that job. I am disappointed that the club management are letting him take all the flack. This club has a CEO and other people involved in football management who contributed to decisions made relating to this season. Chiefly is not 100% responsible for yet another poor Nix season. He will probably be scapegoated at the end of the competition. However that won’t correct the underlying issues that need to be addressed.
At least now that he's got pretty much all his players fit and available he can finally show off what he had in mind with playing style and tactics. No excuses left, these last few games will show where he's at as a coach.
I like Chiefy on a personal level but if we get whipped most games with a full squad then no point keeping him on for next season.
I don’t hate you. He blames the players not performing and other excuses. Just for once reflect on your own performance. A sentence like „I need to look at myself and the coaching staff and look why we can’t bring our ideas on the field and why our imports are and other players not performing as good as they can“ Maybe the club leadership let’s him down, are not help him and able to guide him out of it. Their statement was that’s football, up and down, what ever, will be fine next year.
Good interview. The reporter fronted up with all the hard questions.
Meh. Shark season. I don't have any problem with what Chief has to say there.
He will have other options. But good to hear him still backing his players and seeing the 'Nix as his only A League club. That might change of course, were he let go and got another A League coaching offer. But good to hear him valuing the six years he has had at the club and the backing he has had through all that. And his desire to win the league here.

Isn't he also a qualified lawyer or something of that ilk?
Very defensive interview when finally asked a few mildly difficult questions, just like his coaching style!
Not surprised more disappointed at the complete unwillingness to take any responsibility for the results of late, its all the players faults and injuries as far as he's concerned! Not high quality leadership imo, certainly wouldn't inspire me to follow him if I was in the players shoes.

1min more into interview Italiano said: "Has the football been great? No... When confidence is down it's harder to play that football and that's on me. This question of the players not trying or the players not good enough and all that, is crap for me. The players give 100%"
With on field performance the buck stops with him. I’m not aware of any reporting official or otherwise that says Chiefy didn’t get what he wanted. We have given club management a burst in the past when they have deserved it.austin111

As others have said, despite being Chiefy out, I've no great issue with anything Chiefy said. Was good to see some challenging questions thrown his way. And I'm glad he doesn't fear the sack from the Nix and will be able to land on his feet employment wise, because it isn't that fun to root for somebody to lose his job.
