Very entertaining. VUC do have some seriously talented players. Arzani a bit of a cod, but the kid can play. Surely he gets another shot at Europe at some point.
Seriously this.
I think Arzani has matured and become a very threatening player.
Needs to be playing a lot and at a higher level to find the best place for his talents. You can see even with guys like Garnacho and Rashford who have thrived on broken play, can struggle when shoehorned into a system approach. His next move is crucial, but man I think he could be a top five league player. I could even see him playing deeper as a playmaker, rather than a winger.

he's one of my fav players in the a-league. we're lucky to have him. outstanding technique, hits the ball so well
Arzani is basically VUC's playmaker. Others will know him far better than me, but get the feeling that's almost what he needs to be to really shine. The main man. That likely wouldn't happen in a top 5 league, like MartinB says he would have to very carefully choose his next club if he goes back to Europe.
Piper could be the natural heir to Chris Wood. Massive physical presence with a knack for scoring goals but doesn't really look like a footballer outside of that. That's pretty much exactly what Wood was starting out. Wasn't until relatively recently that Wood was recognised as anything other than a poacher.
Wood could always play. Have watched him since age 16/17. I think you're under stating the stages he has passed through to become an excellent Premier Leaague footballer.
If anything he got stereotyped at Burnley, though that team was far from Stoke, but before that I think he played a bit deeper or was more mobile and involved more outside the box.
I understand what you’re saying, though, he had a rough time and maybe even he forgot some of the talent and touch he had.
If Piper wants to score a bunch of goals for us I’d be shocked, but he’s already got two and as they say no point saying pigs can’t fly, when you see them catching swallows! He’s done well in patches, with those patches getting more and more regular. A CB with a free role??
I've jinxed this game by saying victory's first goal was the easiest goal you'll ever see. They are trying to do outdo themselves.
That goal was like one of those ones where you are playing 5aside and the horn blows and you get to kick off straight away but opponents still putting their boots on so you just run it into their open goal to start the game 1-0.
hughes needed to end that attack much earlier. he had plenty of cover. wootton didnt appear to call him in either, which is secondary, but still disappointing.
Isaac Hughes is terrible, might as well not even have a CB there
but he still deserves to be a pro, right?
Nah that was even worse than Josh. I think Josh gets more flak because he’s an import, but Hughes has been woeful, feels like he’s scared to put in a challenge.

yeah, i think you're right
wood scored a lot of goals for burnley running in behind the defence. he's made an art of it over the years. but because he's big, he's assumed slow, and a target man. he's more of an all round forward IMO
pipers definitely got excellent attacking qualities and the speed he showed to hit the 6 yard box, at the right time, was first rate

Depends on his further development and the club I guess. Top 5 league, not necessarily at the biggest club!

fair points
i guess that part of my annoyance is an unwillingness to accept that if you're not good enough for us, you shouldnt be a pro, therefore we're crap, in the worst pro league in the world
Well, it was until we failed to take anything from it 😂
I think we’re missing out a bit in that you can’t, I don’t think, go back and give a yellow in that situation? As a team that likes to break I think that hurts us.
I can kinda see why LKH works in the middle ay. He can disrupt play and keep the ball moving well. I think he has out played Rufer and Retre since coming on.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.
