Will we keep the momentum from the 2nd half last weekend? Is David Ball going to start the game? Is Oskar Zawada going to finish an attacking move? Is the crowd going to return to the RoF?
you'd hope we get a decent crowd, hopefully the weather plays ball. no idea what the starting XI will be but I think you might see Kosta up front with Waine or Zawada with Ball/Old and Kraev out wide. At a guess
If Ugarkovic could do the Pennington role then I'd agree but neither Lewis or Ugarkovic seem willing to do the defenisive work required of the #6 midfielder. The seem to both want to do the creative stuff, which is great, but if neiterh is defending we have a massive hole in the midfield. Uffies 4-2-2-2 shape needs the ball to go wide quickly and be cut back to the strikers or result in a cross, at the moment we seem to want to go through the middle where we lose it and get caught short.
I think this would be my preferred lineup rn it is a toss-up between Kosta and Zawanda but I feel Kosta has a good impact off the bench. An argument for Old over Ball but I feel its good to have that extra experience on the field.
Ball looked fairly rusty, so wouldn't be surprised if he is off the bench (Not his fault, it'll take some time for him to get back up to match fitness). Pennington was good, so I can see him keeping his spot. Ugarkovic looked quality when he came on - he has to start, particularly when Lewis still hasn't looked his best so far. Potentially Waine will start over Zawada - maybe Zawada is more suited to the impact role anyway? We will see...
Don’t see Uffie starting Surman but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ball benched given he’s just back from injury and like Trent said he was a bit rusty.
I reckon we may wear our currently unreleased third kit this weekend.
When David Dome was on the pod a few weeks (Ep. 4) back he said the third kit this season would be in support of Gumboot Friday - which is this Friday...
He described the kit as 'really bold', so will be interesting to see it.

Want to see the Ugarkovic + Pennington combo from the start this weekend, lewis has been a long way off his best so far. Kraev to start, and would like to see Kosta given a start as a no.9 with Waine or Zawada
It's going to be a shame we won't be able to show our support to Davila, especially after how keen everyone was.
A bit torn on this not unhappy we dont have to face him but gutted we cant show our support at an appropriate time
Even if he is neither playing or here, we can still do what was planned. You can bet the Melbourne Cup winnings he will be watching the TV broadcast. The first meeting at ROF is when we must do it regardless, to honour our ex-captain

Davila played 50 games for us so perhaps we could do it around the 50 min mark along with a display on the screen.
I think Bally will start again. Uffie seems to be trying to bring him back as soon as poss. That means minutes of game time. Some very interesting choices for Uffie to make. I don't know if having Payne in CB worked any better than Laws. I guess he will look carefully at MFC to see how he can open them up best. I just hope our game plan is not pass it around at the back till we make a mistake, repeat.

Kosta/ Waine Kraev <> Old Lewis /Pennington Sutton Elliot Wootton Payne(Surman) Sail
Zawada/Ball/Ugarkovic/Sasse Mauragis/Surman/Laws
I feel like Sasse and Urgarkovic are the two players who may show us more than we’ve seen. I feel we know who our other players are. Wayne and Old may get more consistent at producing their best stuff and eliminating mistakes.
I feel we’re short on fullbacks.
I think the reason we saw the handball and the Wootton dive in was the defense being poor or lacking in urgency previous. Wootton for the second Tilio goal.
I just wanna see that Kraev/Lewis goal recreated! That was class. Actually many times would be good.
How many fouls did Old win against City? I still think he goes missing too much for my liking and his option taking can be poor. But he did well and probably deserves another start.
The most impressive thing about Old is how he drives forward whenever he gets the ball.
That's what I was hoping Sasse would bring. that ability to run at players ball at feet. To give us a point of difference from our passing game. He just hasn't had the ball in any kind of space yet to be able tell.

The opposition might have something to say about that. He needs to be given space to be effective, otherwise he's rubbish?

Or between the 20th and 21st minute - his Johnny Warren Medalling 20/21 season

a bit cryptic - the "50 games" is kinda more obvious, or it can be in honour of his shirt number (would need to tip off the commentators)

Surely 10 minutes is the obvious choice? Most of the times I've seen these done (e.g. Erikson at the Euros a couple of years back) its been done based on their shirt number

I did think about that but then I had a silly thought, is that too early? I guess it doesn't really matter if it happens early or later on because at the end of the day, it's the right thing to do.
Wellington Phoenix squad: 3. Finn SURMAN, 4. Scott WOOTTON, 5. Steven UGARKOVIC, 6. Tim PAYNE, 7. Kosta BARBAROUSES, 8. Ben OLD, 9. Oskar ZAWADA, 10. David BALL, 11. Bozhidar KRAEV, 12. Lucas MAURAGIS, 13. Nicholas PENNINGTON, 17. Callan ELLIOT, 18. Ben WAINE, 19. Sam SUTTON, 20. Oli SAIL (gk), 21. Joshua LAWS, 23. Clayton LEWIS, 24. Oskar VAN HATTUM, 31. Yan SASSE, 40. Alex PAULSEN (gk)
Ins: Nil
Out: Nil
Unavailable: 14. Alex RUFER (injured)
Squad analysis: No ins and no outs for the ‘Nix – but plenty of questions regarding who Ufuk Talay will start this weekend after a triple substitution in Round 4 which earned his side a point in a dramatic comeback.
Oskar Zawadą, Bozhidar Kraev and Kosta Barbarouses were all injected into the contest in the second half against Melbourne City and helped orchestrate a two-goal comeback; all three will press to start in Talay’s front four this weekend – but David Ball, Ben Waine, Ben Old and Yan Sasse will be providing stiff competition.
Macarthur FC squad: Filip KURTO (gk), Jake McGING, Tomi USKOK, Mario WILLIAMS, Ivan VUJICA, Kearyn BACCUS, Daniel DE SILVA, Daniel ARZANI, Lachlan ROSE, Al Hassan TOURE, Nick SUMAN (gk), Matt MILLAR, Charles M’MOMBWA,, Anthony CARTER, Jed DREW, Craig NOONE, Jerry SKOTADIS, Isaac HOVAR, Rhys YOULLEY
Squad analysis: Barbados international Mario Williams will push to make his A-League Men debut this weekend, after being elevated into the Macarthur squad for Sunday’s trip to Wellington. There’s a gap in central defence and Williams can put his hand up to fill after the suspension of Jonathan Aspropotamitis. Ulises Davila is still sidelined with a hamstring injury, meaning Craig Noone will likely continue in his place centrally, and look to keep up the impressive form he’s displayed over two successive starts.
The Bulls are a quality team and will look for an opportunity to take advantage of our not-quite-fully-settled first eleven. We have tons of good players available and Uffie will take his time as usual to arrive at a team on the day.

Selecting a first 11 is very difficult because our midfielders and attack are all of such similar ability. And they're all inconsistent. So what's right one week is completely wrong the next.
the biggest question I have for this game is will the ground announcer a) be the same dude as the last couple and b) will he continue to fudge up the players names. and c) will he try the queen video to rev the crowd up again.

They are missing Uli, Aspro and Susnjar though, all big losses for them.
