Yeah I meant the later.

Decline the Jan friendlies though (if
given permission) and you may never see the squad again if others take their chances. There are no dead certs in the Nix ranks after the latest friendlies.

Hay is highly likely to need an enlarged 30-31 man squad for March, with numerous A listers missing the first 2-3 games. That's when Danny will definitely be seeking A League reinforcements

January will be a normal 21-23 man outfit.

Even if the case it doesn’t change things for nix lads on the cusp

Bump. Not much time to dwell on that City performance, the boys are back facing CCM Tuesday night.

Not that I think Surman has been bad but I think Payne should slot in at CB for this match.

Uffie said Payne/Wootton is the plan.

That could be the best thing for the boys after that Citeh performance. Get out there and go again to chase a result.

I expect we'll be right up for this one from the get go. Important for us to get something out of this to maintain that gap between us and the chasing pack. Despite Saturdays shellacking, we're in a very good position to get into the 6 with the games in hand we do have.

Do we think either of the young lads brought over for the game will get some time on the pitch?

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

for sure, I reckon. Bidois probably the best academy striker last season - big, fast, but unfortunate timing with an injury meant others were brought over in his place. Toomey one of the better Weenix players too, almost 21 already, will slot into one of the number 10 roles most likely but can fill in further back

Note of the 4 guys out with Covid, apparently none featured against Melb City. Not sure if that means they were on the bench or not in match day squad at all.

Anyway with Payne coming back in, and hopefully Piscopo ready to start - Nix should actually have a stronger team this time out

That lessens the chances of the 2 new arrivals being rushed in

Apparently Uffie spoke about easing Piscopo back in, so don't expect him to start.

Payne and Elliot into the XI. Surman back to the bench for this one.

Another positive Covid case drops out of the team - McGarry on this occasion.

COYN! Farken fire up 🔥🔥

Scoring first is key for this one...our bench is too thin to chase from behind...

McGarry is a huge loss. Good luck Louis!

Man, even though the squads a bit thin because of injuries/illness etc, our academy is definitely producing for us.

Bodes well for not only the future of the Nix, but for NZ football as well. Love seeing these kids come up to show their wares at this level.

Let's get this win boys! Fire up!

A few months ago was cheering on Cummings for Dundee (in rare times he played), weird for me to have him vs Phoenix.

90 seconds in and thank fudge for Payne!
Touchy should have flagged the offside though.

Poor pass from pennington to no one leads to a pen as CCM get in behind us.

Terrible give away.

Just so I’m prepared. What’s the excuse tonight? Tired legs? Playing away from home for 2 years? Tuesday night?

Pathetic defending.

Yep, as soon as that went astray I thought we are in trouble here. Way too casual in a vulnerable situation.

That chance came from a very simple Pennington turn over. There is very little quality in our side atm. Fortunately, it means I can both go to bed early and save money on tickets and fuel and avoid the Auckland game I was thinking of travelling to.

Got the feeling of the 2nd half of the last game already. Not settled and not clicking.

Fair weather fan then? Now is the time to support the team, not abandon them.

Commentator said the pitch is in 'perfect condition'. Does perfect mean something else in Australia? It looks in pretty shark condition.

Wish we had Siggie or Jon McKain. I mean happy with Uffie ball, but also hate seeing strikers who have forgotten what a proper challenge is.

I'm fine to watch the nix even in a bad season. I've travelled to plenty of games and watched bad nix sides. But at the end of the day the phoenix are an entertainment product, the current team with all of the injuries is not a great product. I'll decide in the week prior depending on if the team has some players back. It would be a different story if I lived in one of the cities that was hosting a game, but I won't pay to travel 2 hours each way, parking etc to watch the team that is on the pitch today. I don't think that is unreasonable.

Not in the game.

Nothing in the middle. Very pedestrian in everything we do. They are winning all the aeriel challenges with flick ons.

Something needs to change.
