Am i seeing this right, we have a 5-2-3, Sheridan RWB, Armiento LWB, Nagasawa and Najarrine supporting Piper
or 343. Its basically the shape that chiefy probably used the most min this season - still looking to attack as a 325. Recently chiefy used it less having Armiento as a more straight winger, and the team adjusting to keep that 325 attacking shape (4231/442 without the ball). What will be interesting is approach without the ball, how the wide cbs are used with the ball and if they push into midfield to close space between the lines.

So two hands in the back isn’t a foul, but one without pressure on the shoulder is a red and a pen?

Gtf out.

That's irrelevant to the foul.

Can we review back to Cosgrove in the derby?
Ball was nowhere near. It doesn’t make a difference
Inconsistency is driving me crazy..

I'm liking Nagasawa pressing higher on defence, forcing sydney into a quicker pass which is often intercepted by the nix. Positive play so far

It’s consistent decision making for the Nix v Sydney or Nix with Aussie refs. Just that the pause for the VAR makes it obvious.

Jeez I forgot that second Cosgrove one where he’s nowhere near the ball and we go back after the play has gone on for a minute or so…

Grant very clearly ran a line into Nagasawa with no attempt to play towards the ball. Neither of them were getting anywhere near it.

I guess the call is Grant is entitled to move into the space he wants to and if Nagasawa and him are both heading there, then may the stronger player win.

But Grant clearly was moving to block Nagasawa's line.

Good sideline call from Greenie to keep heads up and focused.

Oh f- me. Just tell Retre to break Grant’s nose then call it normal footballing contact. Just normal footballing contact. Might as well right? Or are we still believing that somehow we’re going to get fair calls?

VAR is now clearly there to re-ref the game.

It's not the most blatant penalty shout I've ever seen, but if it was given on the field, what were the grounds to overturn it given the contact?

Very old-school looking Nix but that was a good half from us. Sydney don't look like they've woken up yet though.

If that's "normal football contact ", I don't want to watch anymore.

He was barged off the ball, with no attempt to play the ball. You cannot do that.

Too much of that is being tolerated, and too much holding as well. Hands should not be used in this sport.

I feel you. VAR inconsistency and downright stupidity has serious degraded my enjoyment of the A League over the last few years.

Have a look at the Eli Adams disallowed goal in the Jets v CCM game last night: beautiful goal, ruled out by a laughable VAR interpretation of an obscure offside technicality. The very definition of an anti-football mentality. And they wonder why people aren't turning up to the games.
