Marking Garuccio would be a challenge for Loke.
My hazy memory is that Loke struggled defensively against AFC in the first derby at the ROF. Seems like he hasn't played for months now.

The Nix fans are understandably angry about the state of the club. However we have nothing on the Italians. The Torino fans just dumped a truck load of manure in the enterance to the training ground with a banner saying "Eat shiite management"

Another derby loss and we'll see... 😏

This is the semi final game against the Vuck they're using.  Such an awesome shot.  I look forward to the Hnry era.  This cursed month is almost over so hopefully a new stadium name can give us a fresh start.

Football at the CakeTin has delivered some incredible experiences and scenes. Who can forget the Bahrain game, Phoenix 2010 finals run, sold out game against the Jets, not to mention Wrexham, Football United Tour and LA Galaxy visiting. But above all will always be qualifying for the WC and that Victory game. Don't think any code has rivalled these matches.

Does anybody know how fit Edwards is? Does he have 90 minutes in him? If he does, it is a coin toss for me (Edwards or LKH) who should be LB if Armiento is playing further forward. Hughes has to go back to centre back.

I'd try a midfield 3 of Rufer, Nagasawa and Kartum, and have Armiento, Mileusnic and Piper up front.

Edit: and I'd put Tuiloma at RB until Payne returns, at which point I would drop James and try Tuiloma with Hughes

McCarron and Edwards. If three CBs then LKH can cover Armiento at LWB. Based on the limited time he's had, Loke IMO has talent and is a potential game changer. Fast, skillful, energetic, good on attack, presses well, can beat a player. There are several big name low impact players I'd drop before him.
Sheridan hasn't really kicked on since debut. And has been giving the ball away cheaply. Yes, perhaps he has been mucked around too much.

@nixin above
Interesting talk about Sheridan and Najjirine.

I think Sheridan hasn’t been overrated, but relied upon to plug gaps. Probably to his own detriment. Jack of all trades and a master of none.

Najjirine. Yeh. Frustrating guy, but also seemed to do a lot of running and be involved a lot. I think most of us saw the poor things he did but missed when he was a link in a good chain passing or pressing.

I don’t think Chief thought they were top players, but both of them were reliable in some ways.

And for me I like Sheridan. But he’s never a left back. The speed Edwards is back is suspicious.

And of all the others Cassidy is the most interesting. I’ve seen him twice. He’s been good twice. Retre preferred for now.

McCarron and Loke or Supyk to be ommitted?
Loke has looked good in his few opportunities.  Had a great U20 WC as well.  Seemed he was playing well then Chiefy lost faith in the youngest members of the squad...perhaps the reaction of a man under extreme pressure.  If he loses playing the young ones it's an easy criticism.

Felt the same applied to LBS as well...looked theatening when he came on but it never translated into more minutes.  The kid has been on bit of a rollacoaster...signed so young , goal for for the Nix,  debut for all whites, then back to benching or not even making the squad.

I know I know shouldn't read so much into pax numbers as they also include memberships and stuff. Guessing the wasn't it like 1k tickets the players were handing out would be included in that?

Pax is a load of rubbish these days.

Can’t read anything into that any more.

Hopefully however it is a good turnout with the 1500 freebies handed out.

6.5k would be a good look.

6.5K would be double than the average non derby games.

Don’t be horrid Hnry. I’ll see myself out.

(Hey, man) Oh, Hnry, don't be unkind, go away
(Hey, man) I can't take you this time, no way
(Hey, man) Dear droogie, don't crash here
There's only room for one and here she comes, here she comes

(Bowie was clearly referring to the relative performance of the Wāhinix in that last line.)

Really interested to see how this game goes. Definitely think it's winnable and top 6 achievable if the players step up now.

Has been a lot of debate about whether Chiefy's rigid/complicated tactics were the primary cause of the poor football and disastrous errors or if it was more the players not being up to it and/or being morally deflated because of the poor season(s)/derby losses.

Hoping the players come out and show the passion and talent they have (especially the academy guys) with less rigid tactics/Greenie to motivate them.

It will be a tough game for sure. Sydney have been a mixed bag lately, 3 goals in their last 4. Hopefully we are not their bounce-back game.  But with Stama on loan, they will have a strong attacking lineup. But these are the games we need points from, so will be a good challenge to see how the boys react after last week. COYN🔥

The southerly has well and truly set in, and currently a typically summery 10 degrees and dropping here in rural Canterbury. Rugged up warm ready for a primo afternoon of Sport with our Phoenix, Warriors, and Tall Blacks back to back. COYN lets get our kiwi teams off to a winning start for the Sunday!

Disappointing team selection, pretty much the same team but Piper for Eze. I guess for his first game wanted to go with continuity but don't know why Retre is being played instead of Kartum

Not a particularly inspiring line up, but we've seen them all play well before. Hope Greenies managed to give their mentality jump start

Twenty minutes to go so people will be enjoying the sun outside while they can, but this is the emptiest I’ve seen the RoF in a long time.

not a huge change up but maybe with the extra defence players like Armiento can push further up. I also think Nagasawa is best when facing forward. Unleash those two by playing further forward and off piper and we might have something.

Also a bit more simplistic instructions and more confidence can do wonders for any player

Would have liked to see LBS and Kartum in the side and a back four.

Oh well, I guess by picking a Chief side, he can show exactly what can change with a change of coach.

I know sentiment and that may have no place in football, but on a human level I'm happy to see Josh back this week just so he has a chance to get last week's performance out of his head and he can hopefully just move on

Somehow that’s fewer attacking players than Chief played.

Not sure that it’s just mentality, but I guess we’ll see…

It's a long way back to restore some respect. Getting into the top 6 would help get fans back but it'll take more than that, especially next season will be crucial. Lot of damage done under Chiefy

Fudge those two diving Twits.
Remi has pulled out of that and there’s certainly no contact near where he’s holding. Why I hate Sydney…
