Something with a little logic.....None of the home kits are white
so if the home kits clash the away team's change kit won't clash as
well

mayb the phoenix should spice it up a bit and go yellow just so we're not 'sheep' like the Aussies! lol

White is more associated with NZ Football than black anyway (the
AW's play in blue away kit after all), so even if white away kits
weren't the standard, it makes sense as the Phoenix will always be
considered New Zealand's team by those over the ditch up until the
A-League puts a second team in the country (should that ever
occur).
I'm still hoping our home kits turn yellow next season. With black stripes, a la the logo. Fingers crossed.

CCM already has a yellow shirt, so something to do wit that I
think. Just be thankful we dont have Chelsea's away kit, looks like
the cops are everywhere in the crowd

Amen to that.
Of course there's nothing stopping Yellow Fever from producing a mock team shirt with black and yellow stripes. Hint, hint...

Just like Borutsia Dortmund, we will look like Germans then with the yellow and black. Mind you i do like the black and yellow shirts!!

Or the Columbus Crew, who have an All White (Duncan Oughton) on their roster?
That being said, bonus points to anyone who werars a Borussia Dortmund top to Oktoberfest!

welcome to a league with Reebok as suppliers...they have a very
limited number of colours and see white as the best option...bring
on CCC as kit suppliers for WPFC!

They better have learnt a lot more from Pompey than they did when
they outfitted the Kingz.

I know the whole thing with every team having a white
away strip - I have kind of picked up on that over three years
lol
But isn't it time for a change? Is there any other league in the world where there is but one supplier and every team is restricted to having the same colour away jersey?
I just think it's time the league evolved a bit... it made sense 3 years ago - but then again so did the Queenz.
Times have moved on... as we have proven

I think thats a fantastic idea to make our own stripped shirts TO
GIVE THE CLUB A HINT HINT and at the very least the arms of
the teams shirts both home and away should be yellow a bit arsenal
like i know but better than all that black and white.

Doesn't Melbourne have silver (not white) as its away colour and
Blue as its home colour
Permalink
I don't see a problem with our home strip being largely yellow (or
striped)- the CCM are yellow sure, but look at the premiership and
how many red shirts there are over there.
I'd like to ditch the black kit next season, and mainly
because people see black and can't help think NZ, its vastly
overdone in this country - even the lions these days are black with
yellow trimming. Lets bring yellow back to the local teams as rugby
heads see yellow and think the hurricanes/wellington instead of a
generic NZ team.

Yes, Melbourne likes to be different. They also have a different style with their V.

Yeah I thought so
I read somewhere that Reebok altered their standard strip just for them to fit in the V to represent their Victory name and Victorian state.

Am I the only one who likes the current home kit?
I guess the A-League mandate the away kit as white (or almost
white for Melbourne) to avoid having a potential situation
where you need a third kit? The top two flights in England have to
have three kits and a couple of years ago Brighton needed to have a
4th temporarily as all three were considered to clash with the
Palace home kit!

I don't mind it, it's better than I thought it'd be. I would prefer yellow/black stripes (or halves, like Blackburn and Feyenoord), but that won't happen until Reebok ceases to be the official kit supplier to the A-league.
The reason we don't have yellow shirts as either home or away kits is because of the Central Coast Mariners. We couldn't get the yellow as home shirts because the A-league does not want two yellow teams in an 8-team competition, and we can't have it as an away shirt since then it would clash with Central Coast when we play them in Gosford. The Phoenix have incorporated as much yellow as they could on the shirts, but the decision ultimately rested with the A-league.

How many teams in the Premiership? And how many
competitions are they in?
We are talking about 8 teams... it shouldn't be difficult.
But maybe it is?

It's not really a good comaprison. The clubs in Europe are very much independent entities that play in various competitions they're eligible for. The A-league has a lot more hands-on approach over here and all the clubs have to conform to a certain set of standards set by the league (such as having the kits provided by the official supplier, according to the suppliers' designs). Clubs may get a bit more independence once the competition is firmly entrenched here, but for now we have to accept the strips as they are and be proud of them, since they're the ones that our club plays in.

There's nothing to counter. That's just how it is, it's not up to the club, but it's the A-league decision.

I don't recall ever saying, or implying it was up to
the club. Or has ever been.

The whole white 2nd strip is a very American thing. All the pro
sports teams NFL, NHL, NBA & MLB (not sure about MLS) have a
white strip as well as their normal strip. Big difference is that
over there they wear the white strip for home games (weird - means
all Americans support a team playing in white!
).
).
As for the Reebok deal, unless I am mistaken, their deal is
for 3 years which means that at the end of this season it's done.
Hopefully the league will have listened to the fans and let the
clubs decide on their colours for next season.
At least the media are listening, I heard one of the
commentators (I think during the Sydney game) mention that we want
more yellow and at least a couple of jorno's have commented that we
have branded ourselves as a Wellington club not a NZ one (so ditch
the all black).
Having said that, I do like the current strip. It could be
better tho', I like the idea of quarters ala Blackburn, someone did
one like that on the 'design a shirt' thread and I thought it
looked sharp.

Spot on Malky about the American thing, I'd just like to point out that in the NFL most of the time it works the other way around - colours at home, white away - with the main exception being Cowboys and Dolphins who sometimes play their home games in white.

A bit more yellow would be good - and would help
differentiate us from the Queenz, which isn't a bad thing...
But if the FFA won't play the game then we just wear it... (no pun intended) with Pride!
Until, in time, it (hopefully) changes.
