aitkenmike's bet got me wondering something. He is covering getting 3/4, and 4/4 correct with his bet.

If he gets 3/4 right he gets a return, would that be a valid entry into the competition? If it was a valid entry, would it be based on the $1 he has on the treble leg that comes in, or the $5 for the total bet?

If he gets 4/4, he gets $111 back. Would the entry be his $5 returning $111 for the total bet or just the $1 bet on the quad leg that is returning $41.20?

$1 bet on the quad leg would be my take but i am not the final arbiter.

It would make sense because he could put 5 separate bets on, rather than doing it all at once in 1 bet.

What about if only one of the trebles come in?

Can't say I am envious of who would need to track this, with % betting and being able to cover not getting all legs correct, it might end up with a $5 percentage bet with correct 7 legs out of a 10 legged bet winning.

Happy for it to be on only the quad leg, as that was the main bet - hence adding the payout for the quad excluding the 'any 3', but if the judges want to include the 'any 3's' as seperate multi's thats all good for me too.
edit: Although thinking about it, I could go through and place the 'any 3's' as seperate multis, it would just take a painful amount of time, so maybe they should count individually?  Ah well, happy with whatever the bosses say anyway :)

So is there a minimum and maximum bet for this?

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Permalink Permalink

No, just needs to be a genuine TAB bet which includes A-league on the ticket.

Not huge, but puts me into the lead for the time being.

EDIT: Just realised I can't use my bet from the first round as the competiton started after it.

Given the nature of the thread, I should really make a shameless plug for the A-League tipping comp if people want to see others opinions on how the A-League games this weekend might shape up. You could even jump in late, always room for more.

Past couple weeks, we have had 3 people manage to get 4/5 correct teams & margins. Maybe this week we might get the first perfect week. Just don't back patrick478's tips, he is shocking! Picking Adelaide to win in Melbourne, what were you thinking! *shakes head*

I honestly thought I was onto a winner. I'm going to blame Kossie for not playing a striker.

Same! Just couldn't resist the odds. Thought it was worth a cheeky 10 in a week where I had no money. Winning would have meant I could eat all week instead of just a  few nights.....

Something with a bit better return (if it comes in)...

Phoenix the longest shot so I'll be doubly dark if they don't get up for me.

Stoke-Sunderland to be dire, Roar and Man City to win easily and Heart to do enough against the Mariners...

Not sure the Roar as odds on as the odds suggest. Wanderers won't score, but they have a solid back 4 and a top keeper. Might be a lot closer than people think.

Haha not the most adventurous multi I've ever seen!

Here's mine (also not adventurous,nor a multi):

Not sure why mine ended up sideways, but there you go.

And yeah RR,I'm tempted by that under 1.5 goals at $4.75 in the roar game. If I get anything out of the above bets, ill be in on that in some form.

There's no way they'll hold out Brisbane, and as you say they won't score so I reckon $1.33 is great value.  I'd say this is as much a done deal in the A-League as you'll ever get.  $1.87 for Brisbane -1 is good too.
But superb odds for Wanderers if you think otherwise.  $3.10 for +1 goal head start is nice.

Interesting call with Melbourne.  Any specific reason(s)? $1.62 for +1 goal start might be worth a crack considering their strike force, but is the new 'keeper going to be enough at the back?

If you don't think wanderers will score, you may as well go under 1.5 goals at $4+ odds rather than the goal head start. It's a bit weird cheering for goals not to be scored by either side though!

Roars tendency to want to pass it in the net. Wanderers only conceded 2 goals in 3 games. I'm thinking it'll be a snoozefest. It's worth a go at those odds anyway.

Melbourne, felt dirty, but I have a feeling, and one should never go against such a feeling! It only ends in regret. I think Melbourne will win,so ill at least get my money back (more if they're winning at halftime too),and just took a punt on the scoreline,a bit worried jets will pinch a goal..but I'll take the risk.

Interesting.  I'm liking the Handicap Draw at $3.80 - so Jets to win by one.  Fixed odds just closed though so will have to remember tomorrow...

I think this is exact;y what the TAB wanted to happen, get us talking about betting and therefore wasting more money under the guise of a competition. Resist the temptation!

It's fairly fun though. I always give myself a max of $20,which I don't always use. Actually only come out slightly down all up I reckon too. It adds excitement to a game I'd otherwise be neutral for. I like to think part or all of the 20 is entertainment, with a chance of some bonus cash at the end. It's also kind of a waste of money for me to bet on a nix game for that reason too.

This whole thing sucks if you have some sort of gambling addiction though...you'd kinda have to keep away from the forum,or at least the thread.

Used to chuck $20 each in with a flatty every week. 8 x $5 multi's. After we'd spent about $500, we had $200 in return.

We weren't doing very well.

A team gets a theoretical goal head start. So in that instance Victory would start the match with a goal, the ticket holder can only collect if Newcastle win the match by one goal making it a 'draw'.

The handicaps are Jets -1 goal and Roar -1 goal. You minus the handicap off the final result, and it needs to be a Draw after that for it to win. Basically means I need the Jets, and Roar to win by exactly 1 goal.

Pretty sure who's going to win this one .....

... the TAB!

As luck would have it, checked out my online account and woohoo, 100 lazy ones in there.  About to be donated to the cause (slowly).

And as an aside for Mods (or competition overlords), might be good to have a separate thread where progressive winners could be moved/copied.  Ie, we can see clearly what we have to beat when constructing our near-certain multis.  Just a thought.
