Giancarlo Italiano said after last night's match that new signing Youstin Salas won't be ready to play until Macarthur on Feb 18 or Perth Glory on Feb 24. They're hoping he will be in New Zealand at least by next weekend.
Could take him a while to settle. We might need to be a little patient. As he has never played for a team outside of his home country. I hope is English is a bit better than Sasse. That would help. Last couple of games have shown we need the depth. Looking forward to seeing how he goes. Just hope he doesn't get red carded in his first game for a slip on the surface that makes contact..
Doesn't sound like he's in it for the long haul... If you went along with what Chiefy has said, that'll be three visa players we lose at season's end: Zawada, Kraev & Salas.

Kraev seems likely to stay. The only thing Chief has said is we're unlikely to be able to afford Zawada. But, who knows, if the crowds keep growing we might have a bit of money to chuck at the team.
Exactly, Salas may only be here for a short term gig unless we really want to keep him long term and make a decent offer - which if we want to try and keep Zawada and Kosta I cant see happening. Kraev seems really settled here and hasnt made any noises other than he is happy here. Ball is here till retirement and Wooton doesnt appear to be going anywhere either.
I see that the Repretel interview with Salas has been mistranslated to a certain extent in that Front Page Football post. What he really says – when accounting for colloquial speech – is more along the lines of the following:

With all the talk of how we had to get extra funds allocated extra to get him and the few games that he is available for, I hope he doesn’t waste it with getting sent off or racking up cards.
Sounds like he is very committed, what I read, looks like his motivation is to have a better life for him and his family. Very basic down to earth stuff. Hope he fires up and we all have a great time together.

It was a very competent translation, both the questions (into Spanish) and the answers (into English). Perfect abbreviation of verbal repetitions to get the meaning across in a translation. Salas said he was overwhelmed how welcoming people were to him on arrival.

He looked quality straight away. Potentially stopped Davila scoring on the final play too, tracked him all the way from midfield. Looked good on offense too.
Expect him to get 60 mins next game if he pulls up alright 👍

Made a huge difference. Came on looking sharp and with a lot of energy and seemed to be trying to make the most of his first overseas stint. Crucial tackles and intercepts and freed up players going forwards, although I did wince at a two footed sliding tackle...

He did get a yellow card I am pretty sure, because Zawada got one a few minutes later and that is when it was noted down by the ref Gooner 4 Life

To be honest, Evans was pretty inconsistent throughout the game, as was the VAR. Late in the game Evans was handing out yellow cards like lollies, especially in the time added on.
