Very good signing this.
Age grade NZ rep U17 and U20. NZ futsal rep. One of the most consistent performers in NZ NL for a long time now.
Plays CB but also played alot of FB for Canterbury.

Good signing.
Played 7+ years at CB for Canterbury United and more recently CB for North Tigers NPL Sydney.
Coastal Spirit Christchurch was club team but unaware if played other than CB there

Yes fair call. She is a CB.
Am sure I've seen her at FB also for Canterbury Utd Pride. So I think can be versatile. Same as Barry & Van Der Meer I guess.

Believe they have signed 10 players so far how many are Aussies do they need? I only see 7 announced so far maybe I have missed some? Must be more announcements to come, Longo rumoured to be in the list as well, wonder how many others from Ferns squad & wider will be signed up.

Another brace for Kelli Brown this week in the NPL.
And makes another team of the week.

Might as well sign Pritchard then ,so we can have the same side that finished bottom last year!

Wisnewski or Foster would be outstanding.
Kelli Brown would be good.

Can we pin this or get a pinned WPW 2023/2024 squad speculation/signing topic

Wisnewski now. Looks like we will have much the same squad as last year.
I guess we will be able to assess the relative quality of the coaches.
I would expect Haslett and satchel to re-sign as well, can't see them getting better offers. I certainly hope we get Foster.

Not sure about that. At least hope not. Thats 9 signed. Squad size is 20-26 odd.
Can see maybe 2 or 3 more from last year re signing. Foster hopefully, one of the goal keepers probably. Hassett now plays in Iceland so probably not.
That leaves half a squad to fill.
Import striker ?? Import other ?? Wouldn't surprise me if we see an import keeper.
WC squad members that are currently unattached.
Bunge, Foster, Bowen, Longo, Steinmetz, Wilkinson, Stachell, Paige Riley.
Will hope a few of those will get OS contracts. One or two maybe don't fit Temples plans.
Also maybe Brown. Blake..
Best performers at U20 were, Errington, Nathan, Benson, McMechan. So 1 or 2 of them may come in on a scholarship. Acadamy graduates. Macy Fraser, Ruby Dugan maybe.
Temple is probably also waiting to see if any local players from NL put there hands up (aka Foster last season). Still plenty of time for that.
Aussie players in the Aussie NPL to consider also. They probably see the Nix as a good stepping stone like Cicco last year.
Am hoping for quite a different team / dynamic this coming season. Training doesn't start till September, so I hope Temple is busy on the phone right now.

Wait, Bunge isn't at MVFC anymore? My daughter will be happy if she comes to the Nix because she's got a signature from her somewhere

Time for Bunge to try Europe or the USWL. She's good enough.

I was looking at the squad list on the Nix site and Brianna Edwards wasn't in the list of goalies.  Did I miss her getting released or something?

Optimistic about a spot being available? We ain’t getting Musovic if you were looking to claw back your bonus bets from the USA game by dropping a fiver on that happening.

One can dream... But nah there were 3 goal keepers listed so trying to figure that out in my brain.

Edwards is playing in the Aussie NPL right now. So has been removed from the Nix squad list. It's a transfer thing so she can play for another team in the off season. She is still unattached for the A league. So could still sign up for the Nix.

I also see Rebecca Lake celebrated her Nix signing yesterday. With a goal for Northern Tigers in a 3-1 win over NSW Inst.

Following sentence says "Similarly, Faazil Ali, a key figure in Fiji’s U20 World Cup squad that competed in Argentina, is set to make his mark as he embarks on his trial concurrently."  Anyone know if that's for the WeeNix?

Whoops, forgot to post that in the Men's speculation. Unless they have a NZ/Aussie passport, it would have to be a WeeNix deal.

Is 2 Fijians (incl their National team captain) trialling at NWSL club Orlando Pride. Big ask getting signed by a NWSL club from Fijian amateur football. Hopefully Nix are also keeping a tab on them, if they don't get signed Stateside.

But great to see some OFC female players getting the opportunity to trial for professional football. The Ferns need OFC women's football at all levels to get stronger.

This sounds encouraging from Foster

“His vision is aligned with me and a lot of the other girls and that’s to make the playoffs. With Paul and some of the other people he’s looking to sign we can definitely do it this year.”

Looking pretty solid at the back now
                           GK
Barry       Lake             Van Der Meer       Foster
                        Taylor
       Knott                       Wisnewski
                    Whinham
       Main                          Robertson

Building nicely, and still only half a squad. Front third is going to be interesting. Expecting a few new names there to fill in the gaps.
Any word on Aussie quota this season?

Hopefully Wynham has a good year, physically and mentally. A different type of player, she could be amazing for us, if we (as a club) and her get it right.

Interesting how the women's game in Aussie is a lot more Anglo Saxon heritage than the mens. Much fewer ich's. Even a close surname version of a famous English/Arsenal keeper.

Anyway if the Nix don't re-sign Kelli Brown, some other ALW team must be going to. New team CCM maybe.
