To expect that kind of commitment for $36k a season is ludicrous.
But I can also understand the Nix not having the resources to pay high(er) wages.
It really sucks.
But hang on, how long is the "season?"
4 or 5 months?
Which leaves you with 6 months to work on something else. So really 36k for half a years commitment sounds pretty good to me
$72k per year pro rata is a good wage? Wow I've never been rich but I must say, I wouldn't work for that, especially if I had to train most days of the week and had to travel to play in Australia every second game.

That's well above median. Plenty of people work for less.

The Nix have the resources if they choose to pay higher, ( a number of the owners are on the rich list) but the issue is the salary cap which prevents them.

Also spending all your money on sports that don't make you more is a good way to lose the 'rich list' status and then be unable to fund any football at all.

Rent and utilities 12k, insurances rental, medical, car, vehicle & petrol costs 10k, boots shoes, and other gear another 2k. Leaves about 6k for food, toiletries etc if you r lucky. It's a constant struggle that most can't do without additional work or support. With training days varying based on game days and travel, u would need a super flexible employer to help top it up. If u r a super fleible employer, get in touch, i know a few girls who might appreciate some work!

Sure, they need to be prudent and they have stated this from the beginning of their involvement but for some, the money that they are injecting into The Nix is petty cash.
Financialaly it must be tough, renting in Wellington with a mortgage and partner in Auckland. But if money isnt the main issue she realy needs to come out with what actually is the main issue. Everyone else in the team seems to be loving the culture and the way things are being run. I feel for her, but it takes two to tango and I doubt she is the completly blameless in whatever disagreements have occurred.

But i do believe Knott has to explain her comments around values etc....you can't just throw that out and run away...thats weak asf. I'm sure she will speak eventually. But she wants to be careful because if she wants to play for the future Auckland side you don't want to come across as a troublesome/difficult player. Somewhat black listed already i'd say.

I disagree, there is no evidence that she has a very good reason to attack the club. I haven't seen any other players complaining, the team keeps winning games from what we can see the environment looks very positive. Someone perceiving they have been wronged doesn't mean they have at all. Frankly untill she provides some hard evidence of being wronged I'm happy to write it of as bullocks.
Making some vague claims about the club and then not elaborating is "weak asf".

Agree with all that except the season is around 7-8 months when the preseason starts in September with the comp starting mid Oct and if they reach playoffs playing well into April

Is this "pretty crappy week" just due to the Knott situation? Or have I missed some other bad Nix news?

Considering both teams are highly successful, coming on the back of a great double header in Auckland, Id say its the Knott situation.
Now, its hard to take sides without a lot of facts, but from my perspective the Phoenix appear to be a very considerate employer - id say they are quite "woke" even in their approach. Unless other players in the team come out with complaints, Id forget it and move on.

Was more referencing the loss of Wisnewski, Knott and now MVDM. That's a lot of quality done for the season in a very short space of time.
The ACL issue is pretty chronic ay. Hope this is investigated heavily.
What’s to investigate?
It’s a common injury in women sports due to females wider hips resulting in more strain on knees.
Unlucky and extremely gutting but comes with the territory.

She is the sixth player across the A-League Women to suffer an ACL injury after the first six matches of the season.

I agree theres's probably not a lot to investigate, although there is also a lot to understand and learn about the defferences between the men and women and how to modify training sesssions to avoid the barrage of ACL injuries across women's football at the moment. Maybe study is the better word - instead of investigate.

Whilst not specific to this case or the noteable differences between men/women & respective instances of ACL injury, I'd guess that 99% of players in NZ playing on Artificial Grass are using the wrong boot type which "may" be a factor in either sudden injuries or maybe longer term damage to joints?
In my observation, in NZ most retailers sell & players use Firm Ground (FG) boots on Artificial Grass whereas boot manufacturers do make specific Artificial Grass (AG)boots with a completely different stud design/layout to distribute weight over a larger area, reduce friction, foot "getting stuck" when changing direction etc
Most manufacturers say FG boots should not be worn on AG (for some it invalidates any warranty) & maybe for young players playing multiple sessions over multiple years (through their physical developing years) with the wrong footwear may have an influence on joint stability/wear in later years? ....or....the differences between FG & AG boots could just be manufacturers blurb to sell more boots..No idea
I think it might be a case of, "Hey Chloe you are an important experienced part of our team, we wish recognise this by making you vice-captain."
Then spends a lot of time on the sub bench, even though when she is on the field the results are extremly positive for Wellington phoenix, see below. Then she bags two goals, is well aware of the below stats and team injury issues asks for a pay rise(100% speculation), gets refused but they still say she is important. Then she walks away saying "I want to work in an environment where all employees feel valued and respected at all ages "(including me who will not last after next season other than a bench player)" and in every phase of their career"
Game 1: Chloe starts but is subbed in 63 min. Lose 1-0 goal scored after subbed off.
Game 2: Chloe is on sub bench. Subs in 65min. Win 3-0 all goals scored after 65 min.
Game 3: Chloe is on sub bench. Subs on in 6min, win 2-1, injury to Wisnewski.
Game 4: Chloe back to starting line-up due to season ending injury to Wisnewski. subbed off in 58min to Anna Longo. 2 goals scored when Chloe on the field(one for herself), then 1 OG when off the field and goal conceded off the field.
Game 5: subbed not sure what minute, win 2-1 and chloe scores again.
On a side note, what is the status of Macey Fraser, gutted she missed the games NZ against Colombia.

Speculative but possible. I wonder if the nix even had any room in the carp to offer a pay rise - assuming this is what she wanted. But then if that's what she equates to "feeling valued" then her statement about it not being about money is false.
Part of it has to be that she felt the money she was getting wasnt enough to support her current situation - totally fair, but not a lot the nix can do if they are at the cap - and you'd assume they were given the import players they have added to the squad. If the rest is about feeling valued and important then it comes down to a players expectations and how the club/manager/coaches deal with them. Is Chloe a player expecting more than she warrants? who knows. maybe she doesnt enjoy getting less minutes and being seen as a squad player this season instead of a starter last season. Hard to know anythign without the player or club stepping up with specifics.
Queenslander 3x a year.
Have wondered if its as simple as the blow torch being turned up this season under a new coach and with the overseas imports expecting a more professional environment and some not being able to handle the step up from previous seasons.

Wellington Phoenix captain Annalie Longo had little idea her fellow midfielder Chloe Knott was struggling at the club.
Despite feeling the opposite to Knott about the on goings at the club, Longo confirmed they will address it.
