So who are people hoping we get. Saw an article yesterday that Canberra's future is being questioned. That could have either a positive or a negative affect.
Me I prefer Brisbane or Canberra only because they are easier to get.

Personally I'm hoping we get Canberra - for selfish reasons really as living in Sydney I can easily get to the 1st leg

No, we can't get Melbourne Victory because we came second, so even if they won, they would play City as lowest ranked team

Practically speaking Brisbane is the easiest and cheapest option from Welly, but that boring stuff aside I’d be happy with Canberra for sentimental reasons.

If there is a question mark over their future then I’d like them to make the semis this season and make it a clash of national capitals. Plus it would be great to catch up with the Canberra supporters we met on the Tua, they made it a fun experience!

I do like Adelaide as a city so won’t grumble too much if we get them, although football-wise a playoffs crowd could make them a tougher opponent than last time we faced them. That’s also true for Canberra and Brisbane of course, but Coopers is a tough joint.

A temporary stand will be built at the northern end of the venue to boost capacity.

“There are little over a thousand seats available in the Jerry Collins Stadium stand and I expect these will be snapped up this week,” Phoenix general manager David Dome Dome said.

“We’re putting in the additional temporary seating to give as many fans as possible a seat for the women’s biggest-ever game.
For those of us geographically challenged. If i am a TV viewer where is north at PP? They said north end, not north side so is it the end near the enterance or the end where the bank is. Why put stands up at the end when there is space at the side opposite the main stadium where the benches are?

North End is by the entrance. Can't comment on TV view as they have had cameras on both sides of the ground at different times.  But if the camera was looking towards the main stand, the temp stand would be on the right.

Still not sure why they haven't gone to the stadium, maybe they are just snubbing it . But porirua won't be anywhere near big enough.

The Home and Living Show has Hnry booked all weekend.

But yeah,  this really shows why we need that mid-size rectangular stadium (coming soon, right after councils sort out flood resilience).

I did and so did the others I go with. Only one of the four of us got the email. We know they have our email addresses as we get other member emails. It is just extremely erratic getting on an email list

Could be worth raising this with Steph, I missed the email for the watch party at Gazley a few weeks ago but assumed it was a me problem.

(Also I just DM’d you the presale link but then read your post properly and realised you already have it.)

what sort of numbers do you think we'd get if it was at the stadium?  chatted about this with friends and I would prefer a sold out Jerry Collins than a half empty Hnry with say 5-10k in attendance.  unsure what the biggest crowd is the wahinix have had at the stadium

yes im bias cos i live in porirua and its easy to get there for me, but also really enjoy the atmos and setting at JC

Wiki says: Record High Attendance: 5,532 vs Perth Glory (wiki also says this was at Mount Smart so biggest crowd is less than that at the Cake Tin).

Assume that record will be beaten substantially with this game (fair enough assumption I would've thought).

From a marketing/sales point of view it's probably easier to pre-sell tickets when the ground/venue can only sit X amount and FOMO kicks in with punters. You can't build the hype or prey on people's FOMO if your stadium is vast and people know they can rock up on the day and get in.

According to Wiki the biggest crowd ever for an ALW Grand Final is 9,519.
2023 SFC beating Western United 4-0 at Comm Bank.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_A-League_Women_grand_finals

So if the planets align, Melb City get knocked out in their 2 legged semi, Nix win theirs and the Final is to be in Welly - that must be a target for the Phoenix hosting the biggest ever ALW GF crowd.  If the planets somehow align.

From what I can see Hnry Stadium is available ALW GF weekend 16th-17th May.

I agree with this. And don't APL get all the revenue for playoff games. So no benefit to the Nix getting a few extra hundred people into a mostly empty Henry compared to a packed crowd at PP which will create an awesome atmosphere.

This may be a long shot, but are there any legendary members that would be able to purchase a couple of tickets for me? I've got flights from Christchurch for the game but I've just heard there's only 200 left and I'd be guttered to miss out 😭

Whoops forgot to write words. I would be happy to buy tickets for you.  Let me know what you need ie two adults or two kids and where.

Yes it would have been nice to have the extra seats at the stadium but the advantage to the team playing at Porirua far out weighs any negatives.
Also lets be honest through the regular season crowds have mostly been around the 1000/1400 mark. Not really an indicator of a massive crowd yes i get its a finals match but maybe if a few more made the effort to attend regular games there might be the incentive to hold a SF at the stadium.
Its actually interesting all the people claiming they go regularly but the numbers dont stack up.

Maybe if you have missed out this season next season getting a membership might be the thing to look at.

Domey has put on twitter that although the APL usually take the tixket sales, the club is running this match so will get them instead:

True, If its been raining I would take a sheet of plastic to sit on and wear my football boots for traction.
I hope the temporary stand behind the goal is setup really close in behind the goal  like you see in European stadiums. It really adds to the atmosphere and is intimidating for the visiting teams. For some reason in NZ they seem to like a 10+ metre gap.
If Dome is talking about a 4000 capacity then  the new stand will be big...probably 2500.

Sorry, Dome said 6000. Which will make the end stand even bigger.
