Hail to the Chief - Giancarlo Italiano, New Phoenix Head Coach
Chiefy
Temple
Foster
Paulsen
I know these awards are voted for by the fans, but no one can say that the accolades aren't deserved.
Great work by all across the club! Let's keep it going.
Hail to the Chief
Having said that, in England getting manager of the month can be something of a hospital pass. Is usually followed by a string of poor results. Heres hoping not
Talk about a dream start to life as a head coach for Giancarlo Italiano 🤩🔥

Six games undefeated. Top of the @IsuzuUTE A-League ladder.
Now the @WgtnPhoenixFC boss has been named the first Isuzu UTE A-League Coach of the Month winner for 2023/24 👏 pic.twitter.com/wbyab6JKTu

Agreed - it is also known as "Curse of the Oscars", where an Oscar winner for the best actor or actress ends up with a Razzie for their next film...
So 24% of our shots are pretty good ones, compared to 8.7% for the opposition. That compares to 22% and 19% last season. On average, each of our shots has a 15% chance of going in, compared to 8% for the opposition.
We've conceded 4.22 fewer goals than we should have according to Xg. About 1.5 of those are the two pens, but much of the rest is just an accumulation of very low chance efforts.
Clean sweep 🏅🧹🔥

There is no Jar-Jar Binks lookalike in our team so that tells me all I need to know about his standards!

Funny to see Zawada mugging for the camera a little, interrupting the interview with what sounds like, "Mourinho!"
7 across the first 9 this year. Historic.

Chiefy was nominated again for manager of the month. Currently leading, seems like we have a quite strong pull on twitter for fan votes.
I don't think he deserves it this month sadly. It was a toss up between Popovic or Jackson for me, went with Jackson as he's done well to turn it around and they've been scoring for fun.
No hurry on longer deal for coach as @WgtnPhoenixFC hit rare heights in @aleaguemen https://t.co/NpM1fYc3oo

Giancarlo Italiano has attracted interest from elsewhere in the A-League, but is happy at Wellington for the moment, with another season left at the Phoenix. [ftbl]https://t.co/69OHGcLohl

This might be somehting the club is gonna solve, we dont want to be seen as a feeder club for other clubs in the same league as us. Already occurred with players.

And with coaches.... we launched Talay's career as Head Coach too. And dare I mention Rudan.
But yes you appoint an Australian coach, and he's successful it's natural at some point he may wish to return across the Tasman. Too quick with Marko. After 4 seasons about the right time with Uffie.
Already you can sense that the defence guru Adam Griffiths is maybe a potential successor to Chiefy. That's if Griffiths hangs around long enough. Otherwise Greenacre now has the right badges from memory. Temple could develop as an option. But no point fretting with these Chiefy leaving rumours which will now be regular thing, as long as he stays at the Nix.
That said I’ll be happy if we can find a rabbit or two and win this thing…
And if he did that, I would thank him as he walked out the door!
Chur for the silverware Chiefy. Enjoy your new job at Liverpool.

I reckon that "Sir" will do, after the grand final.
"Free Range"
Chief said in his most recent interview there is a picture of a YouTube critic on the wall of the Phoenix's club room. Said critic predicted we would get the wooden spoon... Any idea who that might be? Plenty of critics said we would be dead last lol

I'm assuming Coast Watch Football, he is about the only guy really doing YouTube ALM content.
Edit, RR got the link wrong, it's: https://twitter.com/coastw₳tchftbl
funnier to think he deleted his account though.
