Somebody give Riera a cortozoine so he can play.

Manny to join Lia in the midfield to help him out please... Hicks and cunningham to light on the D aspect to cover. Especially given we have Carlos up top.

I don't understand why Merrick keeps playing players out of position.

The lineup in my opinion should be:

Moss

Boxall Duarante Sigmund Caira

Hicks Muscat Cunningham

Boyd Hernandez Huysegems.

Brockie doesn't deserve a place in the squad. I think We should have more youth on the bench, they are fitter. Adams surely should be pushing for Sigmunds place. I'm not going to even bother talking about Lia.

Yeah, i did. At right back. No wonder. Sigmund's lack of pace was brutally exposed last night. And as soon as he loses the ball he lunges out. And Adams is about 10-12 years younger. Youth are the future, but they end up being other teams youth if we don't persist.

Also - Why don't we just buy a right back? Boxall, Bertos, Fenton... Muscat has played a couple too... Mind-boggling.

yeah, i think right now would be a hard to to impliment adams, especially without albert, that'd be the biggest concern especially with a young players confidence i.e. remember musa. In terms of right back, I think boxall is doing pretty however it is a bit strange that we dont invest.

Sure - I think Ernie can pop on down to "Right Backs R Us" tomorrow and get one  (apart from John irving of course who is an import unless he can be injury cover for Reira).

There's loads on the shelf so will be easy to pick one out.

Yeah i agree on that. Losing Riera is huge. Boxall is almost too confident there now, make too many errors. Lia Isn't good enough. Hicks and Cunningham are so much better imo. How he has 150 games played i have no idea.

Oh so Boxall Duarante Sigmund Muscat
Hicks Lia Cunningham
Brockie Hernandez Huysegems

Is better? It isn't perfect. No, of course not, with injuries. But That is what we played last night, and we lost 5-0.

We play Boxall, Durante, Siggy and Manny across the back most weeks. In fact weren't they the 4 across the back when we beat Victory 5-0? Does that make the argument moot?

The big hole is the loss of Riera. I used to be a Lia hater until Riera feed him up to be useful. In my opinion he's not suited to that holding role.

I felt Hicks had a poor game, but that comes back to the experience argument.

No quick solutions available unless we can pick up a solid DM as injury cover. Matt Thompson perhaps since he's been sent to the naughty corner by Frankie Farina? Just until the Rieralucion can start again.

Yeah, that was the back 4. You can argue that it works. But sometimes it doesn't work. In my opinion Muscat is a better holding midfielder than left back, and yes, Boxall has played well in patches. The problem is the inconsistency, Yeah we won v Vctory 5-0. Good. But then the same back 4 lost 0-5 v Heart. Not so good.
I agree with the loss of Riera though. it is huge. But what is Vinnies role in the team then? I think we have better options, but thats my opinion and yes he isn't suited to a holding role.
I feel try Muscat at Holding, he played really well against Brisbane there first game of the season, hasn't played there since. Caria at Left back.
If we lose, then ok, maybe try something else.

The fact you rag on Ernie for playing players out of position yet you list Hicks, a left footer, on the right.

Hence why you get laughed at.

Balls

You're right. My mistake. Got that mixed up. Meant Cunningham and Hicks the other way round. Thank you for pointing that out.

- I want to point out that i'm not questioning Merrick's decisions, as he is the coach and surely has reasons for the teams he selects every week. Just from what i see, as a supporter i don't quite understand the lineup, thats all.

sp based on two games of equal yet opposite results you are claiming that the back four are useless? Boxall has grown into the RB role, sure he is primarily a CB but I think we have all been impressed with the skills he has shown - and given right backs aren't just growing on trees he is the best we have. your assessment is flawed.
