I'm guessing there will be an official match programme for sale, any ideas on how much it will be?

Probably $10 I would say. That is the typical price for Cricket and ABs games IIRC.

Thank you New Zealand, especially Wellington, for  the warm and cordial reception for the Mission of Bahrain.
There is praise in the local newspapers for hospitality.
We hope, that the two friends, whatever the outcome of the game
Greetings

The guy in the blue jacket and dark glasses is the prince.
All the bahrainis are lining up to have their photo taken with him.
That's when the fans let him stop dancing.

Shouldn't the team have been announced by now?  Ricki said yesterday that he'd do it at about this time, and not keep everyone on tenterhooks (referring to the players, but it's important to us too!)

i've been told that Elliot is out and Kosta is now on the bench

OMG Costa is awesome. I hope so. woohoo woohoo.
over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Not sure why costa would be on the bench seen he isn't in the squad.
over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Mmm 6th in line behind Bright. Unlikely.  Would rather see Wood, Killen, Fallon and Smeltz playing/on the bench.

Ricki said he was on the fringe and that if there was injuries he wouldn't have any issue with bringing Costa in.

if he does make it on, WOW.

what a moment for him!!!

So is the Herald article on the team on the home page not the team?

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

I just hope costa gets a call up to the bench. He is explosive, and that was for Phoenix. just imagine if its true. and he gets a run. woohoo

Mr Bahrain, your supporters and players were singing in the streets when I passed them 5 minutes ago.  I think it is good that they get the jubilation out of their systems before the All Whites inflict DEVASTATION  on you tomorrow night.

السلام عليكم

Having enjoyed the hospitality of a warm and generous people for the six years I was privileged to live in Bahrain it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to return, in some small way, that hospitality. I am sure our Bahraini guests will enjoy their time in Wellington - whatever the result tomorrow night.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Radio sport said at 2pm that Elliott would be given more time and that a decision would not be made until after fitness test this evening.

Bloody hell I'm pumped! Even if Costa was on the bench, I'd much rather see Chris Woods get some game time. He made a good impact in the first leg.

COME ON YOU ALL WHITES!

I bet you $1000 that you will not see Costa playing tomorrow night.

Are we really doing the 3-4-3 thing? Has this been confirmed or is Ricky playing the waiting game with Macala?

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

Spotted .. in the Michael Fowler Centre at approx 1.30pm while I was looking for a park  ..

RICKI!!!!

So of course I had to roll down the window and wish him good luck - and we had a brief chat!

He was very cool calm and collected, I think he must have been to a FIFA gathering that I think was on at lunchtime.

Where else but in NZ could you come across the national team coach like this??!!

 I love Wellington!!!

Go Ricki!

cant be there tomorrow but I was at the Breakers game last night. It got me thinking, they do a good job of drawing reserved kiwis out of there shells to make the place as hospitable as possible for the home team, and unwelcoming for the away side.

Multiply the small spectators numbers up to the 36k (give or take) for tomorrow, add in the importance of tomorrows game versus last nights Breakers league game and this should be awesome.

I am seriously begging everyone going tomorrow to come out of their shells and make it hell for them - why should NZ be hospitable, friendly and welcoming? OK, maybe in Taupo or Queenstown to the average backpacking tourist, but make it tough tomorrow. Who cares if Bahrain hates us and they never want to come here again?

Phew.

Unless he and the players are all ruse champions it will be.  Radio interviews, every training, all 3-4-3.

Most experts including former all whites players and coaches are wanting a 4-4-2 formation. I just want us to win!! Go All Whites! Good Luck! Give em a taste of Kiwi!!

over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Trust in Ricki guys. He knows what's best... And 4-4-2 isn't really an option with no quality right back.
over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
3-4-3 has got to be better than that 5-2-3 one we went with last time
over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
dont give a damn about the formation we are gonay win, the stadium will be rocking, the bahrainians will be shuddering, give them hell, we are going to win, we are going to south africa. GO THE ALL WHITES it will be one of those moments in time for those who were there that you never forget. Believe people this is IT. Have a GREAT WEEKEND. See ya Monday

It may end up looking eerily similar...

Elliott is a big loss for mine. Our best player when on form.
