Great shot! whites looking good!

I havent anything warm and white to wear come saturday... will have to get inventive.

Hey, do you lot reckon the support would be this strong(sell out) if the match was in Auckland? Does Wellington just make things happen, or is it more of a football town?

how many are traveling from else where???

I am flying from Dunedin. Have never flown for a sporting fixture before in my life.

I have been to Welly stadium and Auckland (but no stadia in Auckland).

I swear I would not have flown to Auckland for this fixture. Not sure why but Welly has a great setup for visitors, great stadium, and I am staying at accommodation a short walk from the stadium and railway station.

really looking forward to it has anyone read fan vs fan on goal.com man that bahrain fan is cocky
over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I'm with Ahmad on this one, flying to Wellington from here would have tipped the budget for me. My accommodation is also very close to stadia and train station.

Out of curiosity, is anyone else staying at the Quest on Johnston or there abouts?

getting super pumped.
What I read about them playing 3 up top intrigued me though.. Smeltz said it was the right way to go, but I'm not too sure. if we are playing another 433 then Id want to be including McGlinchey in there and Bertos has to be attacking. I really hope we can play 442

              Paston
Scott Nelsen Sigmund Lochhead
           Elliot  Brown
McGlinchey               Bertos
            Smeltz    Fallon

but if it is 343 then I guess
             Paston
  Sigmund  Nelsen  Vicelich
             Elliot                Lochhead
Bertos            McGlinchey
     Killen       Fallon      Smeltz

Bertos just cant defend again. no way. So a 343 shouldnt be used just to compensate having 3 good strikers.  Bertos and McGlionchey can create enough havoc and chances for Smeltz and Fallon to put away in my opinion.

442 and if we need to, we can always pull off Fallon for Killen and put on Wood for a defender if we have to

Have several mates going to this game for most it is thier first big football gam.! - They are having trouble understanding just how big this is, and why I am so excited.

Thursday tomorrow - one day closer.

Will have trouble staying sober on Saturday (before the game that is) - don't want to see the game blurred!
over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago

I dont think Elliot will play. I think he may warm the seats as he is still not a 100% fit. Not long to go now ppl!

over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Hope it is 442
Three strikers  never worked in Bahrain. Smeltz, Killeen and Fallon are all back to the goal centre forwards....none of them are quick enough to play wide. Smeltz was wasted being out wide in the first leg...we need super Leo using his pace and charging down the flanks banging in crosses for the big guys up front.
The Elliot injury is a major worry. He has the experiance and is very good distributing....he also compliments the more agressive Brown. Without him the side looks a little unbalanced. I would rather see McClinchey wide and then darting in behind the strikers, in a 442, than him playing CM
beside Brown.
We have to play to what is our strengths and thats big strikers good in the air and at set pieces with leo providing. I just hope that Elliot pulls through

I thought Ricky had confirmed 3-4-3?

I'm not a believer either...

over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Looked like 3-4-3 at training this arvo..great header from Smeltz and an even better shot/lob from wide left by Fallon after great diagonal long ball

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Bahrain bus just shown up.
Last training session before NZ.
Could be interseting.

I trust in Ricki! but that said I really hope Bertos is attacking. I think I'd almost prefer Killen in front of Fallon.

from today I have a feeling our formation might be.

god knows
over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Not happy about 3-4-3. I hope it is just a lie for the purpose of deception.

Heard Smeltz talk tonight about how he agrees with Ricky and that they need to "create more scoring opportunities".

Seriously?? Isn't it far far more important to keep a clean sheet given the rules of engagement on Saturday??

Whichever team scores first will win. So hit the ground running, get the crowd into it,scare the sh*t out of bahrain, pinch a goal. South Africa here we come.

I wonder how much noise we can make. Hopefully a lot.

over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I would've thought Smeltz would play in behind Killen and Fallon.

could be a 3-1-3-1-2

     Siggy  Nelsen  Vicelich
                Brown
 Bertos McGlinchey Lochhead
                Smeltz
      Killen            Fallon

I don''t really like it but could still work.

if only we could have Manny!!! would make life alot easier

Do Wellington city retail stores put on window displays when the All Blacks are in town....and are there window displays for the All Whites?

Heaps of Noice!!!  let our team know how much we are behind them!!! Hopefully they'll hear the echos, chants, singing from the dressing room before kick off!

No doubt they will play that polarising "One Shot for Glory" song so brush up on the lyrics everyone

Ahmad I cant wait till your stadium in dunedin is built. We cant wait to come down there for the rugby. But I hope that the stadium trust down there will host future football matches.

I know but unless we play Mac CAM then someone would have to stay back from the front 3.

just feel we would be too front heavy. god knows tho.

maybe

        Killen        Fallon
               Smeltz

All the faith in Ricki tho so believe he'll do the right thing on Satday.

proved us all wrong with that 3-4-3 in Manama, so no reason to think he won't do us proud!!!

I hate this 3 up front thing. Smeltz and Fallon have to be central to score goals. So we cant be playing Killen and Smeltz out wide like we did last time.
And I do think smeltz in behind the two could work, would prefer it to all three spread out. It should be Bertos and McGlinchey's job to be hitting the flanks and creating space so

over 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Ahmad.
They depart Sydney 11:40 am Gulf Air. Confirmed.

I've been told not to take ANY photos.
Already have.
This is a closed session lol absolutely NO press or unecessary persons. Security told me I would be asked to leave an hour ago.
I'm still here.

Id rather have our 'finishers' smeltz and fallon in the box as much as possible. If you want to play all 3 AND have bertos going forward (thus avoiding 3-4-3 like in the first leg),then play a 4-4-2 diamond, with killen slightly in behind fallon and smeltz
