These long balls being five metres short every time is kinds grating. Wish we could slow it down a bit and get Fraser some reps. Leat is absolutely class though

Good shot stopper but her distribution has been pretty poor.

Damn. Expected loss tbh, disappointing we let the lead slip like that and created so little until down 2-1. But overall good defensive performance, as usual we just need to fix the rest
2-1 not to bad a result, considering both their goals looked like defensive errors on our part - second one was poor positioning form the keeper. I wonder if IOC or Fifa will deduct the points from Canada after their spying efforts?
Unfortunately we didn't have much to offer up front, or even through the midfield really but we did well to stay in it for so long under so much sustained pressure.
But what a great goal from Mackenzie Barry! That was great to see, just too bad that was the only decent form in front of goal we had all game.
Another two tough matches to come, let's see how we go
Just a few more rambling thoughts - We actually showed that defensively we are quite good, and really without even improving up front if we could just hold onto posession in our midfield a bit more we could prevent the opposition from having so many chances giving us a better chance at holding on for a draw.
It's just so hard when you give your opponents so much posession and chances in front of goal to not concede a couple.
Nah. She can walk, having blown my ACL a couple of times, you can't walk on it at all. Hopefully just cramp.
Not sure about that prognosis. I continued skiing after doing mine a few years back....Albeit a bit painful and clunky. Walking was no problem. Only way to tell is MRI. Looked more like an ankle injury to me though. She came into camp with that injury. Probably why she didn't start. Building her up.
I thought that was quite a hard watch. We were well and truly out muscled by Canada right from the start (Bowen being taken out by a swinging arm to set the tone) and totally swamped in the midfield. We just couldn't adjust, and then lost composure and confidence on the ball Showed some signs at the end there when Canada dropped back and let us play a bit. Canada deserved to win. But credit to the way we battled on against a much better team. The girls certainly looked like they gave 100% effort. So gutted for Fraser. Hope that's not too serious. Disappointing now we will not see any more of her at this tournament.

Definately looked like an ankle injury over a knee, which I guess is better than an ACL.

She came in with a different injury, to her right ankle. It's the left she blew out today. Or the other way around, not sure.
Also this may not exactly hurt our chances of going through - Colombia has always been the target game for a win. Goal difference from this game is better than expected.
Beat Colombia (yes easier said than done I'm aware of that) and avoid getting walloped by France and we probably go through as a 3rd place team.
Depends if the IOC do anything with Canada... who have just send their head coach home after further revelations of spying dating back a good few years emerged.
If they overturn the result this morning and send them home, we are as good as through.

She had missed games for Utah, and the Football Ferns’ final warm-up against Zambia, due to an injury on her right ankle in the lead-up to the tournament.
Acting head coach Michael Mayne said Fraser would be assessed ahead of New Zealand’s next game, against Linda Caicedo’s Colombia, in Lyon at 3am on Monday (NZT).
“She’s done so well to get herself into a position during this camp where she can go out there and play, so we’re bitterly disappointed she had to come off after I subbed her on,” Mayne said.
“My understanding is that it was the other ankle that was injured, so I’ll speak to our medical team and see where we’re at but that’s probably as much as I know at the moment.”
The Football Ferns have Phoenix captain Annalie Longo, a veteran of three previous Olympic campaigns, on standby if Fraser is unavailable.
The Canadians taking action against their own feels like a bit of a desperate attempt to avoid disciplinary action from FIFA/the IOC. Surely that's not enough though...
I think they need to be docked points at the very least. Canada handing out their own punishments isn't enough and hopefully doesn't mean the IOC and Fifa go easier on them
It shouldn't be a surprised that it was more widespread. If they are doing it at least twice for the Ferns, then they'd definitely be doing it against more fancied teams. And it's hard to believe that their assistant and/or analyst didn't tell the head coach about it. You don't think they are showing them the video in team briefings? Please.

Yeah clearly an established culture of this being OK, the head coach not knowing is incredibly far fetched. I wouldn't be surprised if the Canadian FA have known about it (and endorsed it), given the men's and women's (and youth?) teams were doing it.
Olympics. All about fair play. Surely Canada disqualified. Plenty of athletes get disqualified for breaking the most minor rules. This is a major rule.
