entertaining game, couple of great goals, uruguay will be dissapointed not to have made more of their chances, we took what we could from the chances we created.

Great result for NZ against a very strong South America team.

Hopefully we can take the first 10 mins of the second half and play like that for the whole game against Portugal -

I'll be at a wedding so i am screwed and can't watch. look forward to the comments.

After three games whats the bet Marinovich will have more saves than the keeper for the nation that eventually wins the tournament. (even if we go out at the group stage)

What are the chances, based on that, of a win against Portugal? I think we have to remember that NZ teams are traditionally the bunnies of South American teams, whereas sometimes we can pull one off against the Euros.

Very good result, but youth sides and youth nations have to produce good footballers...with this kind of playing no european team will be interested in NZ players!

'frustrating result' is a LOT different to what you are claiming BBSmeltz.

1-1 FT.  Better than a loss lads. Was a better result than I expected, tbh.
Their best patch obviously start of second half where they passed and kept possession and got a goal and two attempts on goal in a space of ten minutes.funny that.
More of that great play, more Marinovic heroics, more cool heads, more close marking and shutting down space, less ballistic launching to nowhere, less stupid tackles and stupid cards and we're just about there.

meh hes got a long way to go he can't hold any sort of shot and looks very clumsy when dealing with situations.

I think a couple players will be looked at, admittedly with our style it will be harder to attract offers.

Also, given a better overall team, some players in our team possible would stand out more and good scouts will see that.

E.g Dakot Lucas with someone decent to play off has potential. Branch and Hobbs have done themselves no harm and Rojas stood out at times.

Hopefully a couple will come away with something.

I was talking about movement players
Personally I prefer to lose all three group games but playing football not only trying to defend since the first minute and producing more footballers for the All Whites.
Though Bevin (for example) showed some decent skills, but he'll play in USA next year.
We are very well organised but need to show some individual qualities :)
But I repeat, the result is a big one.

Based on what I saw the Uruguayans have some sort of disease where they are unable to stand up.

Although some of our yellow cards were deserved the ref was pretty poor, he let Uruguay get away with a lot but pinged us for everything.

Well done to the boys for the draw and our goal was one of the best I have seen from an NZ international team. Quick passing, great cross, great header. We can play a bit of football when we try, we just have to get out of the habit of playing long balls all the time.

Highlight for me was the looks I got from everyone in the Cafe I was watching the game at when we scored due to my loud pronouncement of joy at our goal.

I'm not going to bother with people who clearly weren't watching the match. BBS you think uruguay weren't good for at least a point over the 90 then you're on a different planet. And I still have no idea what you are trying to say

Performances at these tournaments over the years have improved - we certainly seem to have gotten rid of the defensive naivity that marked our first forays at U17 especially. But we're yet to truly dominate passages of play at this or U17 level despite us getting a game plan together that is effective in getting points at tournaments. At some stage our ambitions for the type of football will need to be raised but I can't see it with this group - technically they are just far too limited.

Results are fine but really at this level it's performances as well

I would be surprised really if any other than Marco and Marinovic play more than 10 games for the seniors...maybe my boy Dakota might come on
