Tim Payne may've declined to be a part of it - you never know what goes on behind closed doors. He's trying to cement his spot in the UK

Payne will be part of all whites side

Correct.

"Barring injury, Payne is expected to be selected for the All Whites squad to face New Caledonia in their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier in Dunedin on March 22 and the Solomon Islands in Honiara four days later, which falls in the middle of the Junior All Whites campaign to qualify for Turkey."

Rory Turner???? Jesus..... If thats the guy you think is unfortunate to miss out, then you are watching the wrong players.

5 goals in asb prem this season only watson has more. Whod u suggest vader?

By that rationale, Milos Nicolic is a quality striker too cause he was top scorer for Waikato 2 years ago. Use your eyes. Ordinary footballer at best, very lazy, quite petulant.

Have only seen him play in the NZSS final for Auckland Grammar School and he was lazy, never chased anything and barely touched the ball. Had a massive outburst at Kevin Fallon on the final whistle demanding some sort of apology. Can't say any of that impressed me.

Yeah I've watched Turner at least 10 times this season, lets just say I didn't realise his name was missing until you brought it up.

More goals than any other forward in squad apart from watson. should be there. Noones offering better suggestions

JV is being a little harsh in his comments I think, but he really is a goals or bust guy, you don't really see him raging around the pitch, putting in tackles, assisting others, he shows for through balls on occasion, he's a good ASB Prem level player but definitely no international.

Hes busy enough and he scores goals as any striker should

Like someone said earlier the squad will probably change again between now and when the actual u20 World Cup comes up.

The squad does have some decent players with a few really promising players from the UK coming back so hopefully the win the Oceania comp and then we can start working towards the actual cup.

At a guess none of the games will be shown on tv?? Maybe the Oceania channel??

Their were seven changes in the 2011 team before the world cup..  Plus this team (if they make it to the world cup) will be going to korea and other destinations as warm up. Not all players will be released so others will get there chance..

I would have thought Stephen Carmichael was worth a place.

But isn't he only playing ASB Youth League? Would he be the only one from that league if he was picked? Thought he was handy at the U-17 world cup though.

Only seen that Simon Arms play once (City v Waitak few weeks back) but he looked very very good. Can't remember who was running at him in the 2nd half but from memory nothing got past him. Where's he come from? One to watch IMO.

He's had time with ACFC in the ASB. And it was a nice hat trick he scored first up for NZ U-17 against Uzhbekistan.

Mate get your hand off of it. You hold your candle for him but if that is the standard for strikers, then to quote HN, we are fucked.
I wont comment on what I think of your footballing opinion. You seem to do a decent job of showing everyone else what its worth with your comments.

Come back here in 2 years time and tell me how huge he is then. I bet you wont because that kid wont be.

Simon Arms is a nice project. His body needs to fill out a little and reminds me a little of Ethan Galbraith before he grew into his body. A good 10-15 kg of muscle will see him be a good CB.

I look forward to it. The kids scoring goals. Hes in the right place at the right time. You cant argue with that. My opinion is certainly worth more than yours at this point. You're among an elitist pack on here who think they're shit doesnt stink

.Joel Stevens hasnt played for a couple months. Played in a friendly against Waitak and got injured .Looked about 13 and got bullied. Not sure how some of these players got picked. Rory Turner should of definitely made it. Hes one of the few playing regularly in ASB Prem, was second in the golden boot in the Northern Prem league in the winter even though he didnt play all the games due to Waitak united committments in the beginning of the season, Scored 5 goals and named in ASB team of the month.

exactly. cast your eye over that JV. stevens is very slight. he and thomas are definitely very talented but a turner or a yamamoto are better options

I hate to say this but in my opinion they will not qualify from this tournament! The Phoenix boys are simply not up to it! Alec Solomons is a trier but so far out of his depth its hard to understand how hes got where he has to this day. Tom Biss has had one good game in 12 months. Justin Gulley i wont comment on because id be here all night.

Chris Milicich is telling us there is not a better player out there than Jesse Edge? he is as mobile as a stone house.

They are really going to have to rely on good finishing up top where there is actually some quality. Overseas players like Cameron Howieson and Luke Adams have to really drive this side.

I hope they prove me wrong but i can see another Islands disaster on the cards.

i actually think its a helluva lot stronger than the side 2 years ago but i think guys like gulley, edge, stevens, higham and van elia might not be there come turkey with tim payne and likes of turner, ken yamamoto, dylan stansfield and possibly rhys jordan actually being brought in.

well they wont get the chance to come in if they don't qualify will they. Ok Gould gave those boys a crack but hey he didnt pick this U20s side. Think Milicich is shooting himself in the foot big time. However il be first to put my hand up if im proven wrong.
