I'm keen too.

Would want to do a safari as well (might as well experience the country while you're there; you might not get a chance to go back )

Climb Kilianjaro before the glaciers are all gone.  Seriously running out of time on that one.

One other thought on the tour - would there be a one-way flight option?  I might look to continue for a while and not require a return ticket.

Ooo yes to the safari...and the tour.

Also any chance of doing a partial tour?  A friend and I are currently investigating getting over there, but I don't think I'll be able to leave the country until after an annual international conference, which happens to be work's busiest time and I doubt I'd be able to get any leave until the conference is over.

All I want to see is the All Whites beat England at Soccercity aka Ring of Fire.

But in seriousness under 10k and it's looking ever enticing. Goodbye trimester 1. Hello Johannesburg.

Yeah would save money on not having to pay uni fees for the trimester  put that into the fund.

I think my main problem would be finding someone else keen to part with the money to go with me >.> (dont actually know any of you).

What would happen if we made the 2nd round? Would that increase cost, have to change flights etc etc?

Allegedly

I might be in, but complication would be I would be flying in from China or the UK.

BTW for cheapest flight options consider getting to Sydney or Melbourne first and then Etihad (usually realtively cheap) or Gulf Air (used to be cheap but I've heard not so anymore) and the like. Might work out cheaper than Emirates/Qantas/Singapore Airlines from NZ, or it might not, but maybe worth checking.

I think there'll be a few people like that. I don't know many on here either but don't really care as probably the best way to meet everyone!!

Just a heads up [Im not sure if it has been touched on before]. Ive worked in the group travel industry and rugby world cups and it isnt a simple process. While people might be lucky to obtain match tickets by themselves, unless you have someone to stay with then it will be very hard [if not impossible] to get accommodation in the places where the team will be playing.  For events such as this, the hotels are block booked by the travel companies and youll only get rooms if you book packages through these travel companies. If you are lucky enough to find a travel company that will only allow you to purchase accommodation then youll be paying a premium. The likes of the Willaments and Gullivers etc make their money on events such as this so are very reluctant to chip off the profit making parts of their business. With a football world cup you could expect packages to be in demand so it will be the old supply and demand situation if I can sell all of my allocated tickets as part of packages, why would I cut my profitability by not taking advantage of my value added packages?

At the moment we are trying to work to get something pitched at the lower end of the market.  $8.5k or thereabouts is a price I'd hope we could hit.

Likely to be budget in many regards though.

Is that what people want?

Feedback please.

Smithy im pretty keen!

I say tackle him in the face.

Out of curiosity...what do people think is a reasonable price to get to our three group games including travel and accomm?

Hey Smithy, when you say including travel, do you mean flights to SA itself? I'm very seriously looking at going, but my first look at tours were around 10-14k plus flights as extra, which would make it unlikely for me (that is about a year of travel in South America, vs 16 day tour in S.Africa). If it was around 8.5k, then I'd be a serious possibility. If that included flights, I'd be likely and maybe theother half(are they allowed?Seemsno-one else mentions the idea...If not, I can sort something out )

My mum found something which was 6000 not including airfares but everything else in the sunday star times.

Probably the Williments package which is for "tent accommodation" (is that safe in SA??) unguided/unescorted. Hotels and escorted was $10,000 or so in that ad.

Williments is expensive but then you'd assume that you get what you pay for (I'm not saying it is worth it, but security would be a big issue for me in SA).

Then we can fire something out to ya when we know the details.

Getting some good rego's of interest at fevertour2010@hotmail.com

the main aim is is to lock down as many fever for a core tour ie same flights, transfers, accom and tickets for the 3 AW group games. That was we are one merry bunch (+ Smith) and not all over the show. We will try to accomodate people sitting outside the square though. Hopefully have more details soon.

That was my thought - do the tour, and then stay on for the rest of the tournament, hopefully with a few people from the tour.

so do you guys mind me on the tour or would you rather not have me

tomrewi, I think it comes down to having someone watch your back. Most guys/gals will be away for a fun time which will, more than likely, include a decent amount of drinking. I think you might need a legal guardian or at least a responsible adult (of which I can't vouch for many on here). I think if you did go without your folks then looking at an official tour with Willament and trying to find a minder is probably your best option. I'm sure you'll be more than welcome to hang out with White Noise during the games though. Good Luck and I hope you make it over.
Also, it's not a case of not wanting you there. It's more a case of age and what else will be happening on this WN tour. We want everyone there who can get there.

Its no longer a problem.
