OMG 5-2
I think the heat is having an affect on the Olly-whites. Hope they get another goal before full time.

I doubt Vanuatu will win, but either way it works in our favour. The Solo`s  have such a good gaol record that we cant afford to draw with them. convict2008-03-05 20:09:08

Does anyone know......if the Oly-Whites win the qualifier..... are we sending them to the Olympics????

Or this a cost issue and not going to happen.....

apologise if this has been posted before today.

I say tackle him in the face.

It would be a huge disappointment if the boys made it through and then weren't given the opportunity to go over and represent their country. It's not just a cost thing though, the NZ Olympic Committee apparently reserves the right to restrict a team from competing if they feel that they're not going to perform "well" on the world stage ... WHICH IS RIDICULOUS! What's the point in even sending them over to the qualifiers if you're going to have the Olympic Committee turn them down if they do manage to qualify ... not sure how our athletes are ever going to get experience on the world stage if they're not given a chance! perhaps some of our more savvy sports-political types could suggest the best way for us to put pressure on the right people to help get them there

I think we're getting ahead of ourselves... the Solomons are the dominant side so far in this tournament... not us.

OVER-RIDING CRITERIA

Male (U-23) Team

The overriding criteria for the male (U23) team would be to provide evidence to the NZOC of the team being able to progress beyond the first round of the Olympic Games competition.

Such evidence would be based on performances of players at U-20 and Senior Mens level as there is no competition at U-23 level in 2007. Performances by the U-20 team at the U-20 World Cup and the Senior Mens World Cup qualifiers will be reviewed by NZ Football and the NZOC on December 3, 2007.

not taking it for granted by any means News, the win v PNG wasn't particularly reassuring and it's a bloody challenging set of conditions over there, not least the skill and pace of Totori and Maemae

the fact they've used the same starting 11 for all games might help us.

regardless,I don't see that we have to wait for the Soloman's result before we can start thinking of ways to promote the team in regard to selection by our Olympic Committee

Don't want to sound like some dickwad.  But I've still got the sh*ts about these Solo guys.  I know this sounds bad, but I think we're going to lose.

Not sure if this has already been said or seen by most people, but check out this article (http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/536641/1623319). Looks like we go into the match one key midfielder down.

Are any radio stations covering the match? Where are you guys getting these text updates from?

Thanks, looks like it'll be a close one. Will be embarrassed if NZ don't pull through, even if the Solomon's are looking like favourites at the moment.

having Dan Keat out for this one will do little to inject any optimism into this discussion

from the reports ive heard (they may be a bit one-eyed and biased) keat was the one who was hit. anyone know if this was true or is it just a twisted account?

He must have smashed someone to get a 3 game ban - that rules him out of the rest of the tournament.

Olywhites will lose today.  Shambles.

That is the way I heard it as well, he got flattened in a tackle, stood up to the guy and then another player steamed in and punched him.  Keat pushed him away.

Keat got three matches and a fine, the guy who made the tackle a week and the guy who steamed in from miles off got nothing... no change in Oceania officiating there then...
