The next All Whites coach

Sorry, You are dead right - says that at 59 mins into the You Tube clip of the full game. I left the room and my mate who came around to watch the preceding Liverpool game and stayed on for this game told me when I got back "They just said about the new All Whites coach  - it's going to be the Auckland City guy." Obviously had his wires crossed. Also a few beers had been consumed....

Full game here - nothing conclusive, just speculation at 59 mins into the clip (soon after second half kicked-off) that Emblen ,seen on the touchline, might be a candidate....

Be funny if it turned out to be Tribulietx in the end though - I'd have to credit Greg with mystic powers!

Emblen would be more available to take the AW's short-term in March since Tribulietx would be involved with Auckland City in the ASB Premiership semis. Seems to me Emblen is the favourite (though Tribulietx is keener on the long-term job with Neil focusing on the u-23's)

Didn't they only qualify as those two tournaments were held in the UAE?

He's been working for Sky UK and has said on TV that he is involved with Ireland in some capacity.

Does anyone know about the statement made preJap match on TV3  that Emblem currently does not have the tickets to be AW coach?

I was impressed with Emblen when he took the Olympic side to the UK. They played some great football.

He has no qualifications. I have heard a couple of stories around this and the reasons why but nothing I am prepared to print.

I guess if you look at all variables of

- Not much of a budget to pay

- Not many games a year so hard to justify full time unless another role wrapped around it

- ideally to know the player environment both locally and internationally

- understanding of how NZF 'do their thing' and the culture of organisation there

- the want and desire for a fulltime, credentialed coach on a low budget

The answers really are Emblen and Ramon. Most likely as a duo but I would think that if either of them got the job, they would ask the other on board. Emblen may take Bazely with him knowing their history.

I know the standard answer is always 'you know never what is out there until you look' (much the same convo as Ricki with the Phoenix) I really think that for all those variables, those two tick more boxes than potentially others may do. I know Emblen has no tickets and not sure about Ramon and how that fits in with NZFs criteria...

I would support a Emblen - Roman duo. I mean the current players seem to speak highly of Emblen and younger players also mention him regularly as being a great mentor (Burfoot interview on ASB Prem. website.) Roman on the other hand does play a very attractive and winning style of football which New Zealand can certainly benefit from. He also knows how to win in the Pacific as he has shown with Auckland City in the O-league. We may not be in Oceania for much longer but we are for this upcoming WC qualifying campaign so it would be ideal to have him on board. He also has the reputation of being extremely studious by putting the hours in to study the opposition which has certainly helped Auckland City in their Club's World Cup campaigns.

So if they partnered up we would have a winning combination of a coach who the players respect and a tactician who has the ability to win in our confederation. Brazerly is a solid and safe choice, but Roman is a better one.

Any player with half a brain and a desire to continue playing is, of course,  going to speak highly of any coach with half a chance of getting an upcoming job. Moss for example was never going to say "I am happy to be captain, but really don't think Emblen is up to the job. A rather  career limiting move I would have thought. 

I am not saying that is anything like what he or others think, but what a player says about a coach in public can, in many ways be totally disregarded.

Who would those players be? Surely we here on this forum are already aware of every semi decent kiwi possibility out there whether eligible or not.

Did any of his foreign ring-ins pick up kiwi citizenship while at AFCF?

Nicholas Del Moro and Shay Spitz are two of them

I hope he NZ Football give him a hard look.

Does anyone know why he is in NZ and has stayed here? Seems talented enough to be making a go of it elsewhere.

Ramon Tribulietx has definitely proved that he knows what he's doing with Auckland City, but I agree that some of the comments he's made about "eligible" NZ players abroad are a bit suspicious.
