Thought Emblem lacked the coaching licenses.

Very true. Ramon has spent last 3 years at ACFC "changing their style" (see interview with him - latest on www.oceaniafootball.com)

Also if Emblen is your guy then giving Ramon a go does not send a good message....

Has Ramon actually proven that much in his time at Auckland City? I mean they've only won the league once in his time and from there he's won the O-League, which lets be honest, the best (richest) team from NZ should always win. I'm not offering a better alternative which could be the flaw in my argument but I just don't feel he's done anything major here.

I'd say the same regarding Emblen, his record is hardly spectacular and pretty inexperienced.

If our players from the ASBP are not considered good enough for the national team, what makes our coaches worthy?

Look abroad, someone from the outside of NZ football fraternities and maybe then we'll stop making the same mistakes.

Coached Benfica youth mens team to World Title. Scouted for Celtic. Has a Masters degree in Sports Science. Has a UEFA  A badge. Coached Quatar and Iran womans team. Is only 36 yo.

Her name is Helena Costa. She has just signed a two year contract to coach Clermont in the French Second Division(mens full professional).

I'm not sold on Ramon or Emblin yet.  As assistants yes, but not Head Coach/Manager quite yet.  I personally feel the candidate needs to have coached in a professional environment as the boys playing in Europe won't dig ASBP level coaching, ethos etc.

Will also need to actually do some scouting too.  Something Ricki never seemed to do, nor Neil based on current squad.

Thomas Rongen was asked in a interview (ESPN) about "Would he return to coach another Oceania national team" And he said maybe, And in fact that he'd been contacted by two member associations.

Well if part of the job is to have some knowledge of Oceania football, Other then Rongen you could have Farina/Rufer (lol) or some other Aussie or even maybe Venables?.
