Not even a mention of Wellington?

If the bit about the end of the week is true then that's good news.

If they made their decision earlier they might not have had those issues.

Looked on the Westpac stadium website and there is nothing on 22 March (Hurricanes games on 8 and 30 March, Nix on 31 March).

When was the last time Wellington had an All Whites match? The Paraguay friendly? That was yonks ago. Are they just not considering us because we have Nix games every other week?

Correct. It's a bit silly that we don't get considered for any games at all, simply because we should be getting the playoff. It would have made sense to perhaps have the first of the Round Three qualifiers in Wellington, then the second in Chch and the third in Auckland. Two games in four years in Wellington frustrating.

Having some of these games couldve been a good thing for us i think, the atmospheres been a bit dull for a while so couldve made for a good change to have the AWs here, perhaps even a good win couldve had a welcome carry on effect for the following Nix games in terms of people wanting to turn up to watch. Variation is good

To be fair I'm not that upset that Wellington hasn't had more. It's not like the All Whites have played in other parts of the country several times since we last had a game, more frustrating is that fact that they don't play very frequently, rather than Wellington getting left out.

When was the last time Hamilton had an all whites game, before you start complaining about Wellington not getting enough. We showed up the last time the Nix were here and we have had nothing since (or before for that matter!)

Add Westpac Stadium to the mix:

New Zealand Football has yet to confirm where the March 22 game against New Caledonia will be played although it is now between Westpac Stadium in Wellington and Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium, with the southern city perhaps slightly favoured given the long gap since it last hosted an international of this standing.

"Determined to avoid similar situations, New Zealand Football high performance manager Fred de Jong said yesterday that wherever possible matches would be played only in Fifa windows at which time the players must make themselves available."

De Jong, haven't you noticed that players aren't coming back during FIFA windows?

My take on the article (reading between the lines of the bit you left out) was that they would try to avoid arranging games not during windows/over the summer break, on the understanding from the players that they would stop the pissing about and avoiding playing during FIFA windows.

"As a compromise, NZF will try to avoid scheduling friendly internationals outside the windows and, if possible, leave the European summer break free to allow players to take holidays."

Oh wow you have not heard of Dunfermline.... Hmmm. Toni Christie scored in one of those games didn't he? There is a name that vanished.

No but I was at primary in 2002 so can't really remember it, let alone the All Whites games played that year.

A country should never play a town, just as a matter of principle. It's demeaning.

I was there too.

Going way back I was also at NZ vs Watford at Athletic Park.

I mean Watford? Dunfermline? These aren't even cities. Wtf?

Sounds like a perfect place for Nix to play.

Oh Jason Batty....

Yeah, Jason Batty in that game. Jesus wept.

When I think about it I've seen some dreadful football in my life.

Not NZ international but my first game in NZ was Wellington vs Stoke City at the Basin Reserve in 1973.

Can remember exactly feck all about it, except the local boys didn't take kindly to a couple of wog kids who spoke with pommy accents.
