The Road To Brazil 2014 via Wellington feat. Mexico
When mates etc asked me why the qualifiers weren't here, that has been my answer. Same can be said of Auckland though. My worry is even though the RWC was a massive success with the public in Auckland, there was huge organisation with the fan walk to Eden park which may not happen for a one off game on a week night no less, where as Wellington is already naturally set up with bars and transport all the way to the stadium.
Think it was a tuesday from memory? Yeah don't think it's gonna be down south. RoF or Eden park, would be massively surprised if it was anywhere else. Hopefully the decision is made soon.
Agreed- that was nothing more than a forlorn hope.
My comment about the cost to and from Dunedin was a little more self-centred . . . Just want the north island venue confirmed so I can look at cheaper tickets out of Dunedin.
Positive that it is looking more like wellington
Yeah and fair enough too bro. The quicker the decision is made, the better for all concerned regardless of where.
Surely it'll be Wellington. Give Auckland the rumoured warm-up in September.
From the article in the Herald.
"Auckland or Wellington will host November's high-stakes World Cup soccer playoff with the decision coming down to whether to try to maximise the financial returns or give the side the best chance of qualifying for Brazil."
Isn't qualifying for Brazil maximising the financial returns?
So Wellington it is.
Its what all the Mums take their kids to... (in the mini-van)

Wellington. 20th November. Night. Sleet. Numbing cold. Hurricane-strength southerlies. Baying ROF. Bring it on!
Chuck in a horror landing at Welly International Airport and an earthquake....
Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I would hazard a guess that if we are playing a team from Concacaf, the referee will be from Asia or Africa. I would take a guess out of Japan or perhaps North Africa.
CAF zone
Grumpy old bastard alert
I would think unlikely considering the close relationship and that they are ex OFC..... Neutrality at all costs......
Grumpy old bastard alert
We had a Hungarian and a Uruguayan ref in the matches against Bahrain.
Yellow Fever - Misery loves company
Yeah. We played a team out of Asia and they game us UEFA and Conmebol. Thats why I think AFC and CAF. Just geographically separate.
Grumpy old bastard alert
A pretty safe bet that it won't be an Australian ref.

Doesn't Eden Park hold 60,000 vs 35,000?
Anyone else skeptical that the bandwagon would attract 60,000 in Auckland on a weeknight even including travellers?

The good thing is with such a small turn-around people will get their tickets early (I hope) because no city in NZ would recover for a wednesday game if we got smashed away.
If its in Wellington, I'll drive down from Palmy regardless of the 1st leg result. I won't go to Auckland though.
Should be a "T.B.A" until the away leg is played. If we win that: Auckland; draw/narrow loss: Wellington; if we're hammered: Taihape.

Yes. That's a great idea. We have a winner.

I prefer Wellington, but I will go any where in N.Z to watch this. Even if we do get smashed in the first leg
Really think missing the Confed Cup is really damaging to getting this squad gelling without Nelsen. Still so disappointed we lost that..

Any news on the planned half time entertainment? Cage fight between Telfer and Reason. Winner gets to take on Guy Smith?
