Here is the link from NZ Herald match review between Waitakere ans Canterbury, love the line, "it was a day the underdogs ruled", must have forgoting that the Dragons defeated Waitak in both round robin games this season.

In a way it would be great it it was Canty Team Wellington Final, show the big spending Auckland City and Waitakere outfits up.

I guess the only way to avoid clashes with the Premiership, while still being on at the same time as the Premiership, is to play O-League games midweek.

At least NZF CEO Kavanagh openly admits the current ASB Premiership is "dysfunctional"-

Amazing the final looks quite possibly yo be re-scheduled for the second time this season- originally it was supposed to be April 22, then April 29 and now possibly May 6

That's three different dates over the season!!!

Canterbury will be disadvantaged by only playing three games in almost two months since the March 11 game against Waitakere:

April 8 v Auckland

April 15 v Waitakere (semi)

April 22 v Waitakere (semi)

May 6 Final

But is Kavanagh totally out of touch?

Kavanagh on the O-League: "the problem would be overcome if the schedule was changed to a May-June tournament."

There's no way NZ teams can compete in the O-League in May-June because ASB Premiership teams in effect don't exist after the season finishes in April and players depart for their winter club sides or go overseas.

Crazy stuff...

In fairness to NZF, the final was moved because of the Olympic qualifying tournament which I believe affected a couple of teams as they lost more than 3 players? Someone might need to correct me on that.

Don't know if anyone else has mentioned it on this thread before but I'm impressed by Mainland Football's recent efforts to make full footage of every Canterbury United home game available on it's You Tube Channel- only ASB Premiership franchise to do so.

An 11 minute highlights package is always put up the evening of the game, whilst the full game is posted on You Tube about four days later. Only one camera but is a mounted professional HD video camera as used by film and TV companies monted on a scaffold platform. No commentary but you can hear the ground announcements of team line-ups etc. and Canty Utd have very informative ground announcements with two commentators discussing action during the game, informing of subs, scorers etc.

So watch out for both the full game and a highlights package of Canterbury's semi-final v Waitakere from ASB Football Stadium (English Park) this Sunday 22.

the second half capitulation was so bad it was like watching Tottenham

what a let down, but utterly out played and out coached in the 2nd half.

Waitak's #4 goal was clearly handball, but they did hit the post twice and the crossbar twice. Worthy winners on the day but didn't look at the races at halftime. I don't think Canterbury did anything in an attacking sense once AC got assisted off.

given the Wellington result it's pretty depressing. moan, cry, whinge etc.

first half was great. great through ball by kamo and i think it was clapham who scored. was a very even half with canty taking the lead into the half break.

2nd half canterbury had nothing. 2 quick goals conceded and then clapham injured. the south african guy, i think it's de vries or something for waitakere is so damn quick . himself and krishna ripped canterbury apart.

Waitak just too good 2nd half plus canty were average, also on a negative note, at the aftermatch as soon as speeches were over all the canty boys just left with waitak still there, even though loss wouldve hurt was poor form

Dragons or some of left at same time as Waitak boys.
Waitak lads took ages to get to function room.
Dragons had end of season awards night on at 7pm.
Would've been a real late night if they'd won.

Does anyone know if that was the same guy who was playing in the VPL last season? He scored some pretty good goals for his melbourne team which were on youtube. Thought he was a good prospect for the nix actually.

Dont know how accurate it is but Worldfootball.net has him as

Nationality: New Zealand, South Africa

He was apparently injured recently, not sure if this affected the olympic qualifiers or not. Obviously Emblen as the Waitakere and Olympic coach should be familiar with him.

Big George going to Waitakere in winter and not looking at Dragons for next ASB Prem season, maybe the reason why he didn't want a local club.
Coach problems at the Dragons?

Last Sunday coaching fiasco with subs hasn't helped.
Your getting done for pace so you go and put the two slowest players in your squad on!!
Just giving game time to the mates i'd say.
Not looking at the whole game plan.
Let alone a few players having shockers and choking when it mattered.
