Yes I did see that and thought that was a bit random.  Probably due to sign for Tech seeing as he's now in the Canterbury squad... :-)

They wanted to sign him at start of last season as Tech had no strikers, but he turned them down to stay loyal but guessing there is another reason for staying

Also says Tom Schwarz has a hamstring strain and may be replaced by uncapped twin Dan for the Wanderer's match tomorrow.

Kid not good enough for ACFC so why do the Dragons need him?
Don't we in Canterbury have anyone else that can warm the boards of a dugout.
Signings becoming a joke Imo. Team may as well be called something other than Canterbury.

Canterbury beat Wanderers 2-0 today. Was hard going watching and needless to say playing too as temp was 32, and likely 40 odd on the synthetic pitch.

Was the second week in a row that the Dragons looked decidedly average. Two individual moments decided a dull even game. Russell Kamo weaved through a number of weak challenges before slotting past the keeper. Michael White came on in the 80 min, after seemingly warming up for the previous 79. In the 85 min he ran at the Wanderers defence played a nice 1,2 with Clapham into the box and coolly finished after rounding the keeper.

The young Wanderers team weren't outplayed and had some nice passes at times, but overall a rather dull match. No one stood out, other than White in his 10 min cameo ...

Looking forward to CU coming to Kiwitea Street this Sunday, should be a cracker. You guys are a credit to the ASBP and always welcome. Hopefully there will be a big turnout for a vital game.

Oh bless. Such kind words spoken on YF we're not really used to it.

Yes massive game, shame I'll be watching the live updates on the web instead of either being there or having it on the telly. A win for us could mean game on!

ACFC far and away stronger.

From memory, a few CU fans came to AKL last season - should be a cracking game.

A draw a great result for Canty against Auckland today with Southern United holding Team Welly to a draw so the Dragons still in clear second place.

Well I went and watched today. More calls from the crowd to shoot than there were shots on goal. Each keeper probably had 1 save to make.

Adam Dickinson, as much as I cannot stand him, scored a quality goal, one of the best I have seen for a while and I have to give the guy credit for some nice touches as well.  From 30ish out, going lateral across the field, then just belted this tracer into the bottom left corner inside the post that no keeper on earth would have saved. It never got 6 inches off the ground and it was like it was fired out of a gun. It was that bloody good. Claphams 'scissor kick' as reported in the MSM was more of a high boot and a trickle in off the post.

This was a largely predictable and boring game. 7/8 goal kicks Auckland would take short and Canty had done their homework so cut all the options and wide men off so ACFC had to hoof in to touch under pressure. Just take the the fucking things long if you can't get out of your own half and show that you can think for yourselves. Dan Terris was equally predictable as every ball he kicked either went long for a goal kick or out for a throw. The first half was largely played in ACFCs half but they had possession. Their was acres of space up ACFC left flank but no one made the runs which Iwata and Dickinson should have done more of. Best players for them was probably Burfoot and Danko. Tom Schwarz is carrying about 10kgs to much (along with, and I am not making this up Danny Bhoys?). It looks like Aaron Clapham gave it to him because Clapham looked like an emaciated size 0 model. I also think any time you have to rely on Bay Olympic reject Julyan Collett in your back line, you are in trouble. Most of ACFCs play came up his flank

2nd half was more of the same and predictable but I think Keith had done his homework and really stopped the chip over the top and in behind (except down Colletts flank) so ACFC were not able to get to the goal line and cut back as they normally do. The day Stu Kelly makes a tackle, Canty will be a better side for it. Also its unusual to see Kamo outside his sty but he still rolled about like he was in it still. 14 1v1 contacts and he rolled over on 10 of them. He probably could have kept his feet for all but 2. He really is overrated and ACFC figured him out easy in that they just had to put a hand over him, he fell over and looked for the freekick. Clapham had no influence in the game. I liked Steve Morrison and Cory Mitchell. They had work rate and shut down a lot of the passing lanes. Braithwaite was fine with stacking the 18y line and Clapham could be found there a lot but had he been 10-15y forward, he would have been in a hole and lead the counter easy which would have made life harder for ACFC.

Mario Donkey has no place in that side. Tade had about 5 runs for balls over the top and that was it. Pritchett was industrious and Ivan was efficient (kinda like Ryan Nelsen). Interesting (and maybe arrogant) to not start Bale but young Sam Burfoot is definitely a start. I thought Dickinson was played too wide. Danko got about well. Bales second yellow was a complete brain explosion but too late in the game to make a difference.

Players not mentioned had no real effect on the game. For all the hype of Marquez, he was largely anonymous.

A real interesting point that the 2 of us noticed was that ACFC bitch and moan and really swear at each other A LOT. Canty were more of a 'build you' talk even when someone made a mistake. Real noticeable difference in atittude and approach.

If anyone from ACFC says thats more exciting than a Phoenix game (as of recent I shall add) then I'll slit my wrists. I did enjoy their chanting and after a while I didn't notice it other than about 10 mins of oh oh oh oh ah ah ah ah to some tune that I forget. Original.... I think. The sooner someone take the beer drunk bucket guy out the back and shoots him, the better. I enjoyed the chanting, not so much the incessant banging on the plastic bucket.

Otherwise, a draw was a fair result.

My appraisal of the game.

ACFC were absolute crap.

Canty should have spanked ACFC's arrogant possession football arse.

The officials had a consistent game, poor for both sides.

I would not go so far as to say they were crap thats for sure. They kept possession better than your team did.

Canty needed shot on goal to win it. Williams made a blinder in the opening minute then was never really troubled again.

The refs did nothing wrong that I could see. It was not like they affected the outcome.

JV, anyone who turned up at Kiwitea St today to check out our domestic league would have been left disappointed and very short changed.

ACFC didn't turn up on the field and very few players turned up in the clubrooms afterwards.

I didn't say it was a fantastic game (as noted) but they were not absolute crap. If they were absolute crap, how would you describe Canty?

Also I am not really a fan of ACFC so I have no skin in this.

I'm just going to put it out there that I think you are way off base on some of those JV - in my opinion of course.  I really can't be bothered writing back line by line but it seems you have been a bit personal on some of these guys, not sure that's called for.

Yeah I read a week or so ago that the ACFC fans seem to that poster on this forum want to go to games where there is no chanting. Don't know where they got that from. I have at times not enjoyed the chants from them cause they got silly but I enjoyed todays to the point where it blended in with the background (and I mean that as a compliment). The guy with bucket drove me insane. Just this one bucket bang that was so out of place.
