A pity really, most, if not all, from my club end up going to that school. I agree with you on that one. Even when I was at high school tho, playing first XI meant you couldn't play club as you played in the local senior comp. Perhaps the current system is ok for the kids but makes it a little harder for the clubs who have to try and woo them back after highschool. Napier Phoenix2010-11-08 22:24:14

besides we were talking about sam martin. not bissy. bissy is another in another class. sam martin is not good enough for nat league the fact is there are so many better players out there and yes its good to have local lads but if there not good enough the club must set up a good player from out the area who is. if this club wants to be considered professional without being professional if that makes sense they need to realise this

Kieran Venema? or is he in Sam Martin's League?

Fuck this stupid game

As long as the overseas players are better then the local lads i agree, but to often the overseas guys are no better then locals.
Is Adam Chandler good enough to be in the Natioanl League set up???

im talking about younger guys in new zealand. get hobson mcviegh down here give him some game time in the national league like with ian hogg a few seasons back they just have to do a better job at retaining them. with a guy like matt chandler though don't see that happening as from as far as im aware he lacks people skills and alot of people dont enyoy playing under him and putting his son in the squad probobaly hasnt helped that

Matt Chandler hasn't got the ability to attract someone like hobson mcviegh, but i can understand where you are coming from. I don't think there are many Matt Chandler fans in HB from what i can tell, players and supporters. Think he has been lucky this season with signing Smith and Peverly.

If Jack was asked i reckon he would go because NYL is far too easy for a player like him.

Three for me, and two for them.

exactly, get him down here and playing national league i think he'd add alot to the squad and i'd would feel more confident with him in our match day squad than adam chandler who hasnt even played central league football yet. easy to look good agaisnt average local players and central leagues club reserve teams, especially as a right back which is argubly the easiest position on the park

the problem here is that he didn't look good against the average players.

HBU currently leading Otago 3-2. Andy Bevin hattrick in only his second start. Legend

3-2 final, thought a draw would have been a fear result. Thank god for Bevin , no on else looked like scoring.

Youth team= crap. young Tui Kennedy was stand out.

3-2 Final, thought the win was deserved. HB opened and Otago replied within a minute. Otago later went 2-1 up and HB equalised within a minute. Andy Bevin then just started showing off and scored a blinder for his hat trick.  Bevan MOM for me followed by Chris McIvor and then Phil Doran [and I didn't think he would be anything more than a donkey after seeing him in his first game]. for Otago. Paul Seaman is worth whatever you paid him [pies by the look ] but he is pretty busy and holds the team together - scored too.

Youth game; outclassed by Auckland City but it was 2-1 well into the 2nd half. Tom Biss all class for HB. Phil Doran's twin played his first game and was a bit rusty, didn't look out of place in the youth league but we'd want him to be better than that.

Have to agree McIvor did well, Doran apart from his brain dead 2nd yellow.

Thought Ryan Martin played well in youth team, better then Biss who slows the game down every time he gets the ball, far to slow on the ball to be effective, Technically he is a good player, but he just can't seem to grasp the concept of moving the ball faster.

Going to watch the mighty youth team today!!!
Will Biss pass the ball forward while only taking 2 touches?
Will Dan Ball actually move during this game or will he just stand out wide and run up and down a 20 meter patch of the right wing?
Will Peta actually be able to take a cross/corner? or will he come screaming of his line and be beaten directly from a corner?
Will Matt Dockery take another piss up against the fence while warming up?
Will Chandler be able to make a tackle or will he end up on his ars as the attacker goes past him for the 10th time.
I'll let you know the anwsers later!

Peta didn't play. Dan Ball didn't play. Biss passed the ball forward a couple of times, that was only after he turn back towards his own goal first. Dockary started so no piss against the fence.
Better performance then last week. Lacked wide players again, they didn't have any impact on the game both were very average don't know who they were. Guys up front often didn't have any support when they managed to get the ball. Chandler just knocked long balls all the time as he does. Henderson and Martin best players.

Peta played 2nd half, young Gould in goal in the first. Played well in patches but just worn down in the end. I don't see the fuss about young Chandler, he looks pretty composed to me [except for one horror miss] and I think this long ball of his is pretty accurate. Ias he keeping your boy out of the team Gaffa?

Peta didn't play he was in the stand! unless his hair has grown and he is now white!? Non of my boys in the team. Yeah i guess we shouldn't hold it aginst the kid that his old man is a knob! But i don't think he is a good player. 4-0 Auckland
First team 0-0, sound like they had their chances. Think would be happy with a draw down there.

No they'll be gutted.
Bay had several clear cut chances but poor finishing and good saves from Batty kept the Dragons in it. Bay should have run right over us when down to 10 men with 30 to go after Joe Murray got sent for bad tackle. We were lucky to get away with a draw. Disappointing game overall and can't see either side taking out the comp on form shown today. Feni got found out several times as well by stalwart Bay defence where Robertson and JT were very good.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Just to clarify the line up was...

Matt Gould
Matt Dockary
Adam Chandlar
Scott Henderson
Reilly O'meagher
Dan Podjursky
Tom Biss
Ryan Martin
Hamish Patrick
Nat Wright
Shaun Wills

Reilly Morris came on at half time for Gould.

I saw him in the stand in the 1st half but thought that was him in goal in the 2nd. It definitely wasn't Gould and the GK was dark skinned.  You sure?

Don't think that it sounded like a disappointing game. Sounds like there were few chances created and as we saw last year everybody had written off Canterbury but they still made it to the final so still alot to play for.

I was there. I was disappointed. Mainly in the high mistake rate from both teams and the lack of good play in the final 3rd some of which was farcical school boy stuff. Maybe I expected too much.

2-2 vs Auckland City - AC got 2 players sent off for bad tackles, Hogg in the first half and Federidis early in the 2nd. HBU gradually clawed back from 2-0 down [both AC goals long range strikes by Federidis] Bevan within a minute of Federidis' early shower and Jarrod Smith from the spot bout 10 minutes from the end.

HBU Youth and Waikato played out a 2-2 draw too, HBU up 2-0 at the half. Waikato's 2nd goal a penalty too, retaken after a miss [presuming for movement] new taker slotted it.

Chandler is a first class knob. were on the end of another hiding if Auck hadn't been reduced to 9 men for the last 40mins. How can he say they have turned it around from last year???

I think they have tho, they are a much better team than last year [as their resuls show]. Must admit that Auckland started with a hiss and a roar and threatened to run away with it. They were playing very aggressively and the 2 sending offs where, if not deserved, were pretty risky actions. Hogg cut Bevin in half and the other guy was 2 footed studs up. Part and parcel of the game, Ak didn't show enough discipline and paid the price.

A good 3 points i guess. Another average performance another average signing. Peverly leaving is a massive blow to playoff hopes.

Yeah should be interesting, i just find the whole situation strange. Letting Jocham go when Wilson is overseas, Birnie is injured, Smith is fighting fit not much option up front. and now these 2 guys go which chandler must have known about. seems to me stocks are pretty low.

Heard why Joachim was let go? he always seemed to give his best, and as you say, stocks are low in the top part of the field.
