Wait to see what happens with Canterbury v Auckland. What will they do?

NZF would have been hoping like hell HBU got the win. Now they have to shell out for airfares cause you know damn well they'll want the play-offs regardless of whats going on in CHR

Grumpy old bastard alert

Got to be quick tho as the 1st playoff is next weekend. There was some talk at the game that Canterbury might not have a team but it was just chat.

Any standouts in the game today?

I thought it was a good game to be honest. No particular stand outs for me though except the Waikato coach. He's a hard case, really gets into the game and screams out to the heavens when something happens. He looks more like a retired jockey than a football coach.

Without being mean to Canterbury that is a shame this year as I suspect you would have given a better showing against Waitak at the weekend.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Napier Phoenix.
What's with the goss that HBU are on the ropes for this season, may not be part of the ASB Premiership in 2011/12?
A bit like Canterbury was last year money hard to come by to fund the season.

Hadn't heard that. As far as I'm aware it is as per normal. Was on the bus with the Chairman the other day and no talk of there being a problem.

Yes, team confirmed at AGM tonight. Can't remember names but some new signings are:

1. Adam Cowan [ok its a name].
2. 2 young poms from Western Suburbs.
3. Young striker that was 1st equal or 2nd top goalscorer in Central League.
4. Some age group rep from Waikato.

Jonathan Taylor moved into the coaching ranks.

Chris McIvor, Bill Robertson, Fergus Neil, Sean Peta, Richard Gillespie, Matt Hastings, Danny Wilson all return.

Most Academy players are Central League regulars.

Young Gould as 3rd GK.

World Club Cup only a formality really....

TopLeft - yes I think so, didn't sound like there were any other players coming. There are 3 players from local clubs trialling with the team and they might end up in the squad. Its a very young team but sounds like it has potential.

Feverish - Does look like a Wharfies shirt, HB were wearing stripes when I was playing for them abck in the late 60s early 70s. I can't remember what Waterside were wearing back then, but glad they took the stripey into the amalgamation - Swifts - yuck....

Yeah i know a trialist who is starting his trial this week so just wondered if there were spots still available or if the ship had sailed. Guess they wouldn't invite him if they were complete.

What's wrong with Aston Villa/West Ham colours?  Proudly worn by Karori Swifts (but I was exceedingly jealous of the Waterside shirt back in the 70s - they beat us too the b*stards.  So if you can't beat them...)

Canterbury very average rarely had a shot on goal...clapham playing right back was wasted... HBU still alot to do to come close to auckland teams, give the ball away far too cheaply where other teams would have punished them for it today.
