I played with both Graeme Archer and Richard Mulligan. Mully got 25 caps but didn't realise Archy made the All Whites? That's if that's who GA and RM are poolmister.

What's sight without sound? Love without peace? Copulation without conception?

Sometimes i have to wonder where NZF's head is at. Its great the final is on Sky but how are they going to be expecting people to watch it when its on at 2pm on a Saturday? Im not watching it, its Chatham Cup weekend. f**ks sake!!

I can see them next year saying 'we're not televising the final due to poor viewer ratings last season'.

Good on yeah la, never thought it could be him.
Try the 82 All Whites squad.

Samediscussion in the Canterbury United thread.

One thing to note is that it may not be NZF (although they will have had to approve it) but Waitak played a Semi at that time on a Saturday as well so I suspect it is their initial thought.

when you go out to play or watch local football, make sure you sky is on the channel showing the game.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Nice idea but hardy anyone will do that. The best thing is for a replay later on the day, but then there would be hardy any crowd at the game and it would look very sad anyway. Can't win either way.

What are the chances of being able to buy an ale at Fred Taylor Park on Saturday.  Do they sell beer at games?

Congrats Waitakere and hard luck Canterbury.

To be honest, after having at least 16 weeks of home and away NZFC series of matches, an home and away series for the semi-final matches and then a one off grand final game does not logically lined up after you start to account that the O-League groups games and even the final are home and away contest as well.

Having only 8 teams in the league, I don't think that the second league placed (or even the minor premiership winners) team should have that much more advantage in having what is essentially a one off home match for the final. I personally think that it is pointless to have a grand final and should just have home and away final.

If you are going to have a playoff system, then you might as well follow the A-League system and have a Major and a Minor semi-final, Preliminary Final and then Grand Final and then it will increase competition form by letting in the 3rd to 5th league placed teams by match form.

What we have at the moment gives too much power to the top two teams in NZ and less chance by the other teams to get into O-League. I think that for the other NZFC teams to get to O-League is healthy to the NZ football and a chance to break up the "old firm" type league we are having, which in my opinion is unhealthy state of football in the country.

Having an extra game for the teams that are winning on form does have its benefits and it the closest you get for having a winning form team (like a mini FA cup team) playing the league winning team in a contest final.

Anyway I think OFC should consider increasing the O-League team numbers by allowing some second national league placers/knockout champions and NZ's 3rd placer in. I am not sure whether some of the lesser OFC nation are able to place their national champions in the O-league so they might as well have the second placers/knockout champions in the OFC nations a go.AllWhitebelievr2010-04-24 19:25:14

I've just seen the match on television.
Anyone else have any concern over the referee's fitness level?

Thats why he is a ref and not playing Masters grade.
Too unfit to play a full 90 minutes at any grade.
These guys are meant to have fitness tests when they get their national badges, Maybe they should have them every month.
He spoilt what was shaping into a good contest.
Both players miss the ball and he sees a red card foul only after asking his assistant, what was he the ref for? If it was a Red card why ask some one else.

I could've played masters for over 20 years and I'm still quicker around the park than Mr Cross.
I thought he must have been late 40s.

Please don't tell me you're complaining about the red card...it was as clear a red as you can get in this game.

Read my other post I did say it was a Red card and didn't need to ask anyone else to make that decision.
A few people who play at a level well above what I play reckon it should only be a Yellow card.
You won't see that sort of tackle Red carded in the upcoming World Cup.
We've seen worse than that in W.Cs and no card handed out.

Agreed. And agreed about the red card. He just should have seen that tackle on Krishna!
[/QUOTE]

Have to agree it was a shocker to have missed an obvious penalty.
Trouble with was Mr Cross ran the wrong line to be able to get a look at the tackle.
He ran behind the other players following the play and was obscured by maybe three or more players.
He needed to run towards the side line or across the pitch hence opening up the view of the penalty area.
Rule 101 of refs school get your angles correct.

The problem with talking to players about that kind of stuff is that the great majority of them don't even know or understand the laws of the game.

And yes, you will see those kind of challenges red-carded at the upcoming World Cup.

Having watch the highlights again, I've changed my mind, defo straight red.

In saying that, I think the tackle only a few minutes later on Clapham should have been red aswell.

Again the standard of refs at World Cups has got worse over the years not better. They know don't take the top 20 or so in the world just anyone from 3rd and 4th rate football leagues played in out of the way countries.

As I mentioned the worst foul I've seen on a pitch was at a WC and no card given.
Germany won't have a team on the park if the give red cards for every foot up challenge. This may give you a clue to the foul I've mentioned.

Good to debate with you. cheers mate.
