1 v 2.
Sth Melbourne maybe below strength as they also juggle VIC NPL commitments? Only 3 named on their bench. They beat Preston Lions 3-0 yesterday in Melbourne

Nothing beats some Sunday footy!⚽️

Here are your line-ups for today's opening clash in the OFC Pro League.

Liam Gillion scores after 22 seconds!

Though commentator originally thought it was African American, Robinson. Maybe he hadn't yet put his specs on.

Edit - now 1-1 at 10 mins.

Leech, Cocks and Pope.

The port would have fun with that lot.

No 2-1 to SM.
Isa Prins so far struggling at this next level up from National League. Losing the ball constantly in this game.

Kiwi Luka Coveny for SM is a big unit at age 20.
Who knows him and Luka Vicelich may team up together one day in a white shirt.
Like fathers like sons.

AFC II come back to win it 3-2, helped by a 78th min (2-2) red card for SM.

Ronan Wynne and Matthew Ellis the 2nd half goals, bisecting Leech getting sent off for SM.

Ellis who had two different trials at the Nix, starting to stand out in this comp.

Confirmed that Sth Melbourne don't have their strongest squad in Fiji.
But with the finals games all in NZ, finishing top 4 is all that matters for now.

https://www.friendsoffootballnz.com/2026/04/12/auckland-fc-beat-south-melbourne-in-five-goal-thriller-in-ofc-pro-league/

Domestic commitments meant that the Australian side were missing a number of first-choice players, including captain Marco Jankovic and dangerous forward Yuki Uchida.

The New Zealand side, perhaps unsurprisingly, were the stronger of the two in the closing stages, taking advantage of their opponents’ lack of options off the bench.

SIU unlike say AFC II don't seem to have much depth, so they will be stretched with 4 games to play in Fiji.
Today a big chance for them to get 3 points as they finish with games against Solomon Kings and AFC II.

Didn't watch the first round of matches in Fiji, but i'm watching the SIU game on at the moment. Pitch looks a bouncy, patchy, divot filled shocker.

Hope they don't get any rain!

David Yoo blasts one in to put SIU up 1-0.

Yeah the Suva pitch is poor. Bumpy, slow ball speed. Makes it hard with your first touch. I think the Drua play Super Rugby at this ground, and they have played a few games in the wet.

Pitch at Ba not sooo bad?

SIU with a short arse keeper Kennett. Van Dijk injured in the warmups?

Tahiti level it up at 1-1, but Feutz then scores as SIU lead 2-1 mid 2nd half.

Edit - Feutz from the spot, after some nice build up play. He becomes the leading scorer in the league. 3-1.

Feutz's dive fools the ref who gives the pen, but VAR tells the ref to have a look and decision is reversed. No hat trick for the Ashvegas's finest. Nice through ball by Yoo.
Stays 3-1. Tahitians not happy with the ref.

Stays 3-1. Tahitians not happy with the ref.

I dunno if it was a dive, at that pace while jumping over the keeper, even the slightest touch is going to trip a player. With that said, if it was a dive, as the eventual decision suggested - shouldn't it be a yellow?

2nd stoppage time goal for TU. 96 mins and it's 3-3. Nice strike.
I think Kennett is the smallest mens keeper I've ever seen. They have missed Van Dijk's experience in this match you feel.

From memory SIU also blew a lead late in Honiara against Bula FC. They are struggling to hang on for the draw now.

Edit - finishes 3-3. Costly two dropped points for SIU, who will rue that late disallowed pen on Feutz. Ref/VAR took an age making the call, and then TU went bang bang post 90 mins.

You might be right. Took ref/VAR ages to call it one way or the other after many slowmo views.

But gut feel is Feutz tried nudge it past the right of the keeper who guessed the same way, so Ryan R thought he'd try a little dive to the left. All split second stuff so who knows.

SIU looked good (nice fast breaks with Yoo & Feutz getting together) until 90 mins, then it all fell apart.

Gray very composed at the back, almost thinking he could late career step up to the ALM like Brian Kaltak. But then Gray had a communication mare with GK Kennett & Partridge. Again I think if SIU have Van Dijk in goal they win that game.

Yep Gray at partial fault for the first two goals, left completely flat-footed.  Too slow to turn and react. He's a good defender, extremely composed, and scored some famous goals, but he wasn't on the level of someone like Nikko Boxall or Adam Mitchell for ACFC.

Solomon Kings beat Vanuatu United 3-2, courtesty of a late pen.

Only caught the last few mins. Frentic but pitch getting bad in the rain. Loud crowd. Fans of both teams

Owen Smith converted a pen for VU, both him and Otto Ingham starting for VU.

Cracking game that - Chiefs looked on top and really massive second half effort was needed from Solos. Higashide winning it with a late pen great to see after the miss vs Auckland.

Shame they won't be taking at least one match to Christchurch.
Te Kaha or even Addington (if demolition work hadn't started yet)

I like the Solomon Kings. Haven't seen this posted yet but Rabieh Krayem (Solomon Kings DC) started a go fund me recently in response to Cyclone Malia causing damage to Solomon Island communities. Shows they care about the community they represent so would be great if they can make top 4

Van Dijk importantly back in goal for SIU.
Can SIU shut down Le'ai & Higashide.

OVH is due to have an influential game, he's done nothing really of note so far in this league.

SIU with 3 guys out due to 'Fiji Belly'. Presumably two of those are Lewis Partridge and Riley Grover who ain't in the match day squad. Hopefully the others are okay. No fun playing in the heat if the body is already not 100%.

Feutz skied one over an open goal. I'll give him some grace due to the poor Suva pitch.

All the games are played in Ba after today.

Zeb and especially Yoo plus Feutz dangerous on the counter. But SIU's midfield is poor as it has been all comp really. Today it's Mariner, Manuel and McLeod. The heat I guess some factor.

Edit - Terrible lofted back pass by either Rodwell or Manuel, sees Lofthouse sneak in for a goal. Kings up 1-0. Again pitch at play as it did bounce unkindly to I think Rodwell before his bad pass.

This Suva pitch is awful. Guys slide in and leave massive divots.

Edit - 1-0 Kings at HT.

Despite falling off a bit of late the Solomon Kings are still one of the better teams to watch in this league.

A little bit scattergun, but at least they do try and get the ball down and play. Easily one of the better teams for short passing in the tighter areas. Kind of hope they sneak in this top four, but we shall see!

Feutz shoots, keeper Mango saves, and somehow Gray's oustretched leg sprays the rebound wide. Big chance lost.

65 mins and SIU looking a bit jaded now in the heat.

Edit - then SIU have 5 min period of several chances and finally Gray buries one. 1-1.
The regular stoppages and fluid intakes helping them for sure.

I like Feutz. Instinctive hard working striker, who the Nix should definitely look at.

OVH sends in the free kick, King's Lofthouse only nods it back as far as sub Boyers who bangs it in past his countrymen. SIU up 2-1.

80 mins. Can SIU hang on, they have blown a few leads in some of their recent games late on.

OVH more prominent this half.

Finishes 2-1 SIU. They go to 3rd, and should now finish the round robin in the top 4 (Leaders Group).
They would need to lose their catch up game against AFC II next week, plus Tahitu U to win both their remaining matches.

Little fella 21 yr old Ry McLeod (no 10) shone a bit more in the 2nd 90 mins. Worked very hard. Useful prospect maybe.

Yoo was POTM.

Kings were disappointing. Le'ai and Higashide didn't feature much.

Be interesting to see how SIU go in their catchup match against AFC II next week. Feels like SIU have improved since the league kicked off against Auckland at Eden Park a few months back. Though I reckon they are missing a couple of higher quality midfielders, and so a still a bit below AFC and Sth Melbs.
