Hi Rab,

Northern v. Queenstown in the National Women's Knockout Cup round due to be played this Sunday at 1pm - has this been rescheduled? If so, when, please?

Cheers,

JR

Yea its still on, my dads the coach, so thats a reliable source, although Queenstown will be tired from playing there league fixture on saturday due to a stuff up by FootballSouth in not telling Southland Football about the match. Queesntown has the ability to with there strongest lineup out to play very well. will be very close i presume and im heading down with the Queenstown girls Saturday night and a player to watch out for is young Sahara MacDonald up front. Any body know who Northerns player to watch is.

Yeah its defintiely on.

In terms of players to watch, I've refereed that northern team three times this season, and they've got this quick attacking mid/stirker, can't remember a name sorry.

Might see you there then Tom, if i'm not officating, I'll be wearing my big bad, fallon tee.

So youll be there...if so, great ill come introduce myself but you might be a bit shocked that im 12. anyway ill be wearing my Retro Ricki.

You might be the one thats a bit shocked young lad, he's not the fizziest drink in the fridge

Well Basher, I certainly value your input.

Mate, I just hope they aren't mind-f'ed from that 5-1 demolishing. I am sure they can put it to the back of their heads and write it off as "one of those games" though. The best thing would be to get out on the paddock this weekend and put a few goals past the next opponent. We have a chance still for definite however as history has shown this will be a massive task.

As for the likes of Horner I thought he was average in the weekend and is over-rated all around. An alright player don't get me wrong but lets not get carried away. The best players in that team are Overton and Jackson no question.

fizziest drink by the way - brilliant.

Yes i have to agree with the players you mentioned, the energy they bring to the team is second to none.
But in saying that Cavy have strength in depth all over the park and they seem to be getting stronger every year, so in that case i think Tech will be left saying once again "Theres always next year".
Its a shame its only a two horse race year in year out.

Tim Horner should surley be getting a well deserved Testimonial soon.

Does anybody know who makes the predictions on the soccerbot website?
How can they have Caversham to draw against varsity after they have just given Tech a footballing lesson.

Yeah I noticed this too. I think it's an automated prediction system based on recent performances, table positions and home advantage - even though it doesn't count for much when it's the Cali. Can't see the result going any other way than 3 points for Cavy. Gave them a 5-0 schooling last time, and that was a weaker squad, too.

It probably doesn't take into account Varsity exams.

I was just wondering wether it was somones personal opinion or computer generated, either way its strange and brave.
Here is where i put a curse on Caversham and Stu Munroe has the last laugh.

Exams have only just started this week, so varsity should still have a full squad. Whoever plays them the following 3 weeks should count their blessings, though.

46 Exams tomorrow, a fair chance a couple might be out.

Either way Cavvy should still be too good.

I might have to take a break, I'm afraid. Osgood Schlatters disease is plague-ing my knees at the moment. I'm only playing reserves though.

The FPL Table below is clearly wrong, generated by an official source, but I've left it in to see if you are all doing your homework. Spot the error.

Dunedin Technical 9 8 1 0 29 3 26 25
Caversham 9 7 2 0 31 7 24 23
Mosgiel 9 5 1 3 25 16 9 16
Roslyn Wakari 9 5 0 4 23 17 6 15
University 9 3 4 2 15 14 1 13
Queenstown 9 3 1 5 14 19 -5 10
Northern 9 3 1 5 12 18 -6 10
Grants Braes 9 2 1 6 13 28 -15 7
Spirit FC 9 2 1 6 17 34 -17 7
Green Island 9 1 0 8 4 27 -23 3

Nice one Football South.

Cant wait for tech vs cavvy 2nd round in 3-4 weeks time. I can tell you now its going to be a complete different ball game to their recent Chatham Cup encounter.

He's not exactly quick. I've seen him get done for pace at Secondary schools level, first hand. And he was pretty shocking in the game I saw in chch between Canterbury and Waitakere. Got done 4-0.

a slick Northern Women side teared to shreads a Queenstown side missing 2 key midfielders. 11-0 final score. But Queenstown seemed pleased and Northern seem adament that we went down just to hurt them...ohh well. The good news was that Northern was stacked with quality players who came back for the game and we started to play some nice football in the last half.

Kudos to Queenstown for giving the Cup a crack. You can only improve by playing against the best teams.

What is this guy thinking Basher? Mosgiel will finish third!

It'd be good to see them get a result against Tech again this year. That 1-0 last year was classic.

Just read the on-line program and noted there was a bit of conjecture surrounding Tech playing at the Caledonian every single week of the season.

I can't see what the issue is. Don't you want the best teams on the best pitches in order to promote good football?

So why aren't Cavy on it every week? Or were they lucky when they won 5-1?

Because Neil Birch wouldn't have anything to do otherwise, theres not exactly copious amounts of dog muck on the Caly pitch...Caly gate yes, pitch nein

Kennedy its obviously not an issue to you with you being a Tech man but yes it is an issue to us at other clubs.
With all the bad weather we get here in Dunedin and the caledonian the only pitch able to cope with this, then that is why Tech have the advantage by having all their home games there.
You guys always get looked after and thats why i get so much satisfaction when you finish behind Cavy year in year out.

Basically I think Varsity feel shafted. The new Cale was built on top of what was their no. 1 pitch and rightly or wrongly have considered it to be their home ground ever since. They feel they should have priority over Tech who have a home ground but choose not to play on it and who have adopted the Cale as a home ground long after Varsity did. They also see other options such as Tahuna for Tech.
Personnaly I appauled Tech's decision not to play at Culling Park which, even at best, is to small to play 1st team football on. Northern should make a simlar decision as the Gardens is no where near premier league standard.
I can see why Varsity think they have been shafted as Tech obviously do get priority and its no surprise as Tech for some reason do seem to get looked after by Footballsouth.
