IMHO the jury's still out on him. He scored a good goal in the derby but apart from that hes looked like hes been chasing shadows most of the time. Defiently showed form of the bench against CU but still not convinced.

Rumour is he's off to Nelson Suburbs for the Mainland League. Whether he comes back to Otago for ASB Prem I'm not too sure.

Diappointed, although not overly suprised, by the lack of publicity about the nix game on Wednesday night. This was a real chance for Otago bring some new people to Otago U under the lure of the nix and then with 4 out of the last five games at home (incl the saturday after) try and, with a good product presented, attract some new fans. Ie put some ads in the paper, get ads on Radio Sport/ Newstalk ZB try and get some positive feeling. But by the looks of it there'll be a preview in the paper on Wednesday and nothing else, with the same 200 or so United fans who have been putting themselves through it every week for the last few seasons.

As I say i didn't expect any different and I know fiscal resources are limited, but if ever there was an opportunity this was it and yet again failure results. Sometimes in order to create success and good feeling around a sports team, you need to take risks to try and get the best outcome and i think this was the risk to take.

I'll be there at some stage no doubt.

I still can't get my head around the national league being canned for a development league. Imagine if they did that for the men.
Still better than nothing and hopefuly the girls will go well there is a lot of young talent coming through.

Totally hear what you saying. What if NZFC suddenly changed to U23 or watever the rules are now. Random indeed.

5-0. Girls put up good fight in first half but just lacked intensity and fitness. Renee Leota's class showed, shes quality. Her 2nd goal was stunning. Were you there Yeovil? I was the on sitting with my sister hah..

Interesting comment on the NZFC website saying Ruggles was a no-show. What's with that?

Surely the most common way for people to end up in Hamliton.

I think I heard a story about something similar happening to Rod Fleming once. Surely Malc will have some sympathy.

He must of been kidnapped surely? No one stays in Hamilton of their own free will.

If he had stayed in Hamilton and had no contact for a week surely he wasn't going to be played anyway..?

Otagofan, can you confirm Northern wanted Aaron Burgess as their player coach?

Who will follow new head coach Rodney Fleming to Green Island? if you do, remember to bring your boots, some water and a winning attitude!

Blanche the wise...
For all the faults of GI, they do seem to have a very strong Junior club. Difficulty seems to be converting this into success at the Senior level.
At least he will be able to boost the Masters team..

haha nice Blanche, you're spot on there

"Last official word from the head coach Rodney Fleming, is that pre-season will begin on the 8th of February 2011. Training at this stage will take place at Sunnyvale sports ground, however the committee is waiting to hear back from the DCC as to the availability of the ground. Back-up training venue will most likely be Walton Park in Fairfield.

Bring your boots, some water and a winning attitude.

See you there boys and remember 2011 is our winning year."

I haven't heard anything along those lines. But I can confirm DMC was reappointed before standing down. I understand at the present point of time, they are coachless from prem down to divsion 3.
