The mighty finally stumble! Not a loss but considering how they've played all season this is still very impressive from Nomads, especially considering how they started out this season. They've really improved to now find themselves in 3rd and taking points off the untouchable Cashtech.

btw just wanna add that Boyers has immediately score a hat trick for Christchurch United as soon as he arrived. These OPL guys are gonna be a problem from here on out

Yes, impressive debut in conditions that were not that flash. Can United secure enough points to finish a spot behind Coastal to grab one of the two automatic spots from the SL for the 2027 Winter National League, which is likely their focus considering their form in the earlier stages of the season.

Spare a thought for those teams who haven't changed their kick-off times and are unable to watch the World Cup game on Saturday.

Yeah was one of the 1st things Selwyn did once the confirmed WC match times came out.

Surprised that NZ Football did not issue a directive to start all games earlier or later, or play on Friday evening, Sunday or midweek, to promote the code which should be a key objective of the national body. Two games also effected in Northern League, both kicking-off at 3pm, plus many other games in the lower grades around the country.

Some of my mates did a road trip (Probably still as I'm typing this actually) to Wanaka to support Northern. They said the referee was, and I quote, "Abhorrent" and "Seriously bad". Not biased at all, I insist ;)
Points on the board at least, would've liked a win given how Wanaka have played this season but oh well.

The scoreless draw between Nomads and Christchurch United is a bit of a rarity, just the third since 2022, 53 'score' draws over the same period.

If Sporty is correct the ref that was down to do the games was from Dunedin.

Will there be many transfer's in the next few days before the 'deadline' at the end of June?
Recently Danny Heemskerk, formerly at Wanaka has moved to Christchurch and joined Cashmere Technical, while Ilan Mastrocola-Simon has moved from Coastal to Bays.

Into the final 6 rounds of the league and what will the table look like at the conclusion of Round 18 - all scheduled to be played on 30 August at 1pm.
Unless there is a dramatic reversal of form Cashmere Technical (34 points) look to have the title wrapped up, 9 points will guarantee them their second SL title, and this will reduce if Ferrymead Bays drop points.
Second to fourth place looks to be a tight battle between Bays (25), Coastal Spirit (22) and Nomads (21) and all three have to play each other so positions could switch around after each round, with Bays and Nomads both looking to secure their first top three finish.
Nelson Suburbs (18) recent form has moved them into the top half of the table, and a strong finish could bag them a top three finish.
Northern (17) have impressed in their SL debut and look set to finish in a comfortable and deserved mid table position, and no doubt they be looking to secure their first win on the road before the season ends.
Christchurch United (12) currently sitting in the unfamiliar position of 7th place and yet to find any sort of consistent winning form, yet to win two games on the bounce. They will surely need all of the 18 possible points to have any hope of a top five finish. United need to finish a position behind Coastal if they wish to secure one of the two automatic qualifying spots,, from the Southern League for the expanded Winter National League which will commence in 2027.
The remaining three sides, Dunedin City Royals (10), Selwyn (7) and Wanaka (7) look set to battle it out to avoid the relegation spot, with all three yet to face each other, with the Royals have the advantage of the superior goal difference.
The run-in for each side is as follows:
Technical: Wanaka (Home), Northern (Away), United (A), Coastal (H), Royals (H), Suburbs (A)
Bays: United (A), Coastal (H), Selwyn (A), Nomads (H), Suburbs (H), Royals (H)
