Absolutely stoked about Norther today! Was at the game and had a great time on the hill.

This game was an important one for the boys. There's been uncertainty regarding how they'd perform in this league, so a strong win here should help give them plenty of confidence moving forward

Bleeding money? What makes you say that?

They don't own the ground so they're not the ones selling it, its the Woolston Club (Club next door) that need the money

Nothing to do with Cash Tech - as others have said it's the neighbouring Woolston Club who own the grounds and are trying to sell. Tech have said in the past they would like the council to purchase the park to bring it in line with other facilities in the city. Lancaster Park cricket club also use it over the summer.

Ok was a bit confused with the article throwing cash tech in there. It must be Wollaston who have had over 400k deficits, but who knows what is depreciation on whatever their 9m assets are

Will be interesting to see how it turns out as was stated the the Council currently have a lease on the ground for a number of years.

A couple of things from the opening round.
  • first time Christchurch United lost in the opening round
  • first win for DC Royals over United
  • first win for Coastal Spirit in Nelson
  • Nomads continue their run of losing in the opening round
  • Northern join Wanaka as the only promoted sides to win on debut

NZF website's part for the Regional Leagues fixtures & results went down at some point, which I believe is where both get that information.

Similar issues for the last 3 Northern League matches.

Yes, this season NZ Football have moved to a new system and was told there were issues over the weekend for a period so was 'down', must be resolving some of the issues as the players are now showing on Tribe.

Yes, but many, including me, do not count the 2021 edition as a 'true' league as was not home and away, and only 8 teams.

It shouldn't be referenced regarding stats relevant to length of the season ie least wins, least goals against, etc., but I don't see why results in that league shouldn't be considered.

Yes, definitely the better team. I think Northern will cause a few sides frustrations with how they play.. Acquiting themselves pretty well early on

Christchurch United has to be feeling it right now. Only 2 SL clubs going national league 2027 so there's the least margain for error, so to be 7th with only a point must be frustrating. Start of the season though so they'll most likely turn it around

Small consolation is Royals took point off Coastal who are probably the only team they could cost them that 2027 spot. (I think Chch Utd are about 10 points clear of Coastal who are another 10 clear of the usual midtable).

Have to make things count against Nomads next week, who will be looking for their first point.

Sounds great, means it will be on the telly.

Is it just me, but having one camera in Dunedin at Logan Park, and then Royals play at Tahuna and Northern at Caledonian not make a lot of sense?

We had to watch the Bet365 live updates of “dangerous attack” and “goal” on the weekend and it was shithouse.

Thoughts?

One camera is better than none. Sadly the money that FIFA+ put into the camera's only goes go far.

With the streaming that is now going on in a very short time fans both locally and overseas now have plenty of choices to watch plenty of games in the three regional leagues of the NZ National League, which is great.

Will not get into where clubs chose to play their "Home" games so as long at the pitch meets the required standards.

Maybe we need to encourage / ensure all clubs are updating scoring details in the Tribe app in a timely fashion.

Bit mixed personally. I watch Northern in person and while the Caledonian is a better viewing experience I got a bit of a soft spot for the Logan Park astroturf. Last season that's when they won the Southern prems, where they won promotion to the Southern League and more recently had their first game against Nomads. So yeah fun times.

I can't really speak to the camera situation but I would prefer if Northern played at the Caledonian and Royals played at Tahuna. Just a better experience for those going in person, which at the end of the day that's who these games are for.

Based on what you said I assume there's only one camera down in Dunedin between Northern and the Royals?
