Sorry. Didn't see 'backroom staff' beside your avatar so I'll assume you a relation or a mate of his. Its a forum - don't like it, don't read it.

I was trying to ask if this was true or not, thats what I was trying to achieve. I was not aware of this at all and thought initially it was looking like a good signing for TW. Now I am not so sure. Either way, its a rumour in the football community so you can say be positive all you like, but its out there and people are talking about it.

Why sympathise with a kid that is obviously a bit of a headcase. Smacks a referee? Thats hardly character reference building material for a junior All White. Even worse if he has no loyalty to the man that paid to get him off his suspension and on to Columbia. Why would Ricki sign this guy?

Why don't you be helpful and spit out the truth if you think its so wrong.

I don't need to have "backroom staff' beside my avatar to see when someone writing maliciously to make damage or create/add rumors. The thing is I don't understand how these will help NZ football or development of the young players.
As you said, it is out there and people will keep talking about it, but it looks like you are the one who lacks excitement in your life so posts such as this one will improve it and make you feel better???

As for calling a kid "headcase" I am not sure would you be happy if someone tells you that you are a bit of "headcase" too, or you may get upset...

Regards,
Oooh someone has their knickers in a twist.

Fact: Admits to hitting a referee. Gets suspended, get lawyers in
Fact: Picks a fight with Manny Muscat who would be one of the hardest players in the Phoenix team

I'd call that headcase material. Nothing malicous written above that wouldn't stand in a court of law.

Go back to kitchen and make Dakota his lunch...

JV. Well said son.
Football players in NZ maybe getting like the rugby boys, do something and then expect no one to talk about it.
That is why we get on this forum to find out the goss that our media is not interested in or give an opinion both good & bad.

Transfers need to be cleared with the players previous club before he can play for a new team, unless Waitak have delayed it without giving a reason why in which case it would go through as automatic after a week or so [not sure the exact number of days for inter Federation transfers].

surely if Dawkins paid this money out it was at his own risk?

Who knows. Maybe it was done out of loyalty to the player and that loyalty hasn't been repaid? I would be asking if the transfer has gone through...

I dont think loyalty legally binds someone. He is under Waitak on GoalNet

Does anyone know how players get selected for the TW Youth team?  Are there trials?  How do players get invited to trial?
Permalink Permalink

Bit late now.  Clubs were asked to nominate players.

Was thinking about next year.  I know a good young player in the APFA academy in Chch who comes home to Wellington for the holidays.  He came home last school holidays and made an appearance off the bench in a Wests CL game this season.  So Wests, or at least Shane Rufer, knows about him and presumably would nominate him next season if the timing worked.

You'd hope.  Is Tam playing U19s for Wests?

To be fair I'm sure Hedgo/CF would think of him.

After nominations there's a trial and those who impress get called back and are invited to a second trial before the squad is picked I believe.

No, he's taking it easy at the moment because he's recovering from a glute injury.  Didn't stop him going to NTC camp though.

Good that CF have some influence with TW.  I wasn't sure how strong that relationship was.

How exciting for us! But he's in Wellington for a reason..and so I hope he's not too good because Ricki will nab him.

I read Otago beat their youth team today 6-0. Go them, nice build up. We are gonna have a field day with them I reckon. Perfect fixture for us first up.

Does anyone have the good oil on whether Phil Stingray being on the bench for the Phoenix today means he won't be playing ASB Premiership for a month (professional-amateur stand down...)?

Didn't Ricki do that last season (for injury cover) but as long as the player didn't take the field it was OK?

This. Pretty sure Clapham wasn't on stand-down after Sydney, nor was Imray the first time he warmed the bench vs. the Jets (also against Newcastle, come to think of it...)

Ah yes - Clapham. Thanks Robb.

Actually Robb I'm pretty sure Imray was the last time.

The first week Spoonley was on the bench but had to be replaced the following week with Imray because Auckland City started a week earlier in the O-League than TeeDubs did in the ASB Premiership.

Both benched 4 weeks before they started amateur football.

However that may have been overridden by what ever loophole allowed Clapham to not play and go straight back last season.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Actually now that you mention it, I do remember the stand-downs.  Eep.
