Team Wellington... no longer an association with Ole. Chur

Very Unfair. It was certainly not a done deal by any means and just to write it off as 'oh well' they would both have won any way is crap! And for NZ to say that all the clubs were consulted does not mean they all agreed to it apart from, of course, Auckland and Wellington!

How could anything different have occurred? What is your solution?

Don't think that there was anything else anyone could do.  To "postpone" would not have done any of the teams any good as many of the players wanted to get back to their real Clubs

Don't piss off old people - the older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent

They could have cancelled and maybe arranged a pre-season mini tournament over a week whereby Auckland plays the winner of Suburbs and Tasman and then Waitak play Wellington and the two winners go into the final

There is no way of knowing when such a tournament could actually take place. Even if it was possible to play a tournament like that, how is it any fairer to decide a national champion based on a 2-game pre-season tournament? With potentially different squads, and possibly entirely different squads? That's not fair, that's farcical.

At least it would be played out on the field not in the boardroom. Surely that's fairer than just giving it to the top two teams at the time the league is suspended!!!

But I forget I am on the Team Wellington site!

Well, it's not like ACFC and TeeDubs didn't earn their top two positions on the field. And 16 games is much more reflective of relative strength of teams than 2 games with different squads at some yet to be determined time.

Besides, it's not like NZF stopped Waitak from finishing in the top two from those 16 games.

Maybe if Waitak had turned up in either of their games vs Southern this might be a different discussion but then again as they got 1 point from their two home games vs the top two to suddenly claim they were going to charge through and win the league is grasping at straws.

In fact as they still had away games against the top 2 the early end gave them a 3rd spot that would likely have been lost to Suburbs.

This kind of discussion is pointless, the two teams top after an incomplete comp get the prize, but anything could have happened in knock out format, so I guess any of the teams in the running could be feeling let down.

Well yes, anything could have happened. TeeDubs could've finished first after 18 games too and then won the grand final.

But if we're all actually honest with ourselves, we know than in any ordinary circumstances, it's an ACFC v TeeDubs grand final, which  probably would've been a 50/50 proposition. So if anyone really has any cause for complaint here, it's Team Wellington, as they're the only team that had an actual shot at winning the title other than ACFC.

Cant argue with any of this, and as a fan I have enjoyed the season because of its ups and downs, surprises and close middle table positioning. Would have loved to see it conclude and complete the intrigue.

From what I understand the squad is very similar to last season's. Ollie Whyte is the only confirmed out I think.

Im crushed they have announced a preseason game in Palmy on the 7th at 4pm against Hawkes Bay but our club has its prizgiving that night.

TeeDubs and Weenix played the first pre-season game in some typical wild Wellington conditions. The game finished 3-3, but had a very pre-seasony feel with pretty much every player from each squad getting 45 minutes.

I would say yes to keep it simple.

Watched the game on YouTube. Thought the stream was pretty rubbish to be honest. Sure, it was free but it was very hard to follow the game due to the position of the camera.

WeeNix unlucky to lose it thought. Two goals disallowed and Scott had to make a few fine saves.

Was it the shoulder injury he sustained in the last game?

Midgley and Mata look average Central League players at best.

What makes you say that about Midgley in particular?

Thought TW were good today. Disallowed goal and Taylor missing an openish goal just before full time. Auckland were pretty average man

They did play 67 minutes with just 10 men and also had a disallowed goal as well, thought both teams were ok, draw probably fair result

I thought in the first half in particular, Auckland were putting pressure on when he was in possession and seemed to give away a lot of loose passes. His second half was much better.

seems to be a lot of defensive hoofing or poor longs balls in the league

Seemed one elbowed the other who responded with what looked like a head butt, at a set piece. Hard to know but that was the general consensus around the traps
