Does the 4 week stand down for pro players, going to an amateur league  apply to Wood.

Haven't seen talk anywhere which makes me think it doesn't as he hasn't got a pro contract like others but a special youth contract.

Thanks, so Luke Tongue wiil be the same then.

Were they between clubs in the same league though? So maybe a different rule?

I remember some discussion around TW "choosing" to enforce the stand down with Howieson, but the rule that stands down Watson appears to be a FIFA rule.

Works this way if a player plays professionally and then drops down to an amateur league, they must have a 4 week stand down That's a FIFA rule and applies to Watson

If players move between clubs in the ISPS Handa premiership, the club the player leaves can insist on a 4 week stand down. Team Wellington did this last season with Cam Howieson when he went to Auckland

Luke Tounge wasn't on a pro contract so whether or not he has a 4 week stand down depends on the Phoenix

I understand clubs like Team Wellington and Auckland City enforcing the stand down as why give your opponents any advantage, would be a bit more surprised in the Weenix did it as they are about development and their season is effectively over anyway

It's not a stand down  for shifting clubs. It's a stand down when the new club has tapped up the player while he's under contract with his previous club, without that clubs permission.

That's why TeeDubs were able to instigate the stand down.

It is applicable any time a player switches clubs.

What’s the contract with amateur football?

4 Amateur Player Agreements

4.1 Clubs and Players may enter into an Amateur Player Agreement in a form approved by NZF. Amateur Player Agreements are mandatory for National League Competitions.

4.2 Players must be given a copy of any Amateur Player Agreement that they have signed by the relevant Club within five working days of it being signed by the Club and the Player.

4.3 Where entering into an Amateur Player Agreement is mandatory, a copy of the Amateur Player Agreement must be lodged with NZF or the relevant Regional Association by the relevant Club no later than five working days after the Player’s first appearance for that Club, or as prescribed by the Competition regulations. Any such Amateur Player Agreements must be held securely, unopened and in confidence by NZF or the relevant Regional Association and will only be opened if a dispute is lodged with NZF or the relevant Regional Association in relation to the relevant Amateur Player Agreement.

He was told he was not going to be needed due to new recruits (Watson) and with his move to Tauranga he contacted ACFC about joining them. Def no “tap up” from ACFC. I would have thought given the fact that TW asked every club in the comp for 20k each so they could compete in the O-League they would have let the guy play out of good will. I guess a win at all costs approach is what TW management are taking. As for Cam, his Mrs didn’t enjoy Welli and wanted to move to Auckland so he asked ACFC to join them and TW slapped him with the stand down also. For the record ACFC have never slapped any exiting player with a stand down nor claimed remuneration from Pro clubs that have taken their players. Like Krishna or Riera as they don’t believe in holding up any players development.

Heard of Cole moving to Tauranga we’ll before Xmas. Cam came to TW to try and break into the Nix if I recall correctly.  I would think both would have signed their contracts after reading them ( the clause must be in it ) The contract is to help stability of players from season start to finish.  Both have made a choice for their own reasons.

Correct on both points but TW have a choice to waiver the clause in the spirit of the game but chooses to inforce and in the same time gone hat in hand to the other clubs to dung thief OFC costs. Seems a bit harsh and unneasasary.

So they should just let a player that they want to keep walk cos his Mrs is unhappy?

It's still a competitive league, why would they want to strengthen their only real competition?

Not a bad game to watch from the sideline.
In line to see the offside for both goals. Thou someone tried to tell me the first goal should of been allowed.

Looked in to travelling up for that game as had both Sunday and Monday off work. But flights were such that I could only afford to get the overnight bus back, and that left too early for me to be able to catch it after the game.

Will make it to kiwitea one day.
