Hitching wins over driving for dedication in my book. However, I'm driving down from Auck for the next home game - better not be a 0-5 repeat!

It does but as a student you have the time to invest in hitching.

Work and family preclude taking a couple of days to go each way.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Fixed.   ;)
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Kudos to Pistol Pete Chote for taking the Nix Reserves announcement in stride:

"Team Wellington chairman Peter Chote has welcomed the inclusion of the Wellington Phoenix in the 2014-15 national league, despite the inevitable ''challenges'' it will bring."

I don't think it'll affect TW numbers too much. Those that attend their games tend to be the tragics anyway.

It may even boost average slightly as the Wellington 'derby' is sure to attract a few casuals.

It'll help the playing squad not having to worry about playing nix kids as well.

Allegedly

For those who don't listen to In The Zone we came up with a genius idea for the derby (game one of the ASBP).

Fever fans turn up in Yellow and draw straws. Half support TW. Half support Nix B.

Give each other shit.

Do we have to give our names when we buy tickets? It may kick off

It will make it harded for TW to sell the Phoenix dream though. Surely some of last years players had that dangled as a carrot

on the other hand, it might entice a few decent players back; those who aren't concerned with the phoenix dream distraction

I see I'll be in Wellington for the "derby". Are ACFC supporters 'casuals'?

no money  - 3 training sessions a week and game day/weekend is a big ask.

Coming off the back of a remarkable season for Birko. Averaged over a goal a game.

Three for me, and two for them.

Those two will be decent for TW. Smith can be a bit of a child if the ball is not put exactly where he wants if from what I saw at Birko (they were disfunctional so...) but with those two, Robertson and O'Keefe, thats a decent spine to build around.

Edit: When I think about this, I doubt he would try that if Ifill was his striker partner. That could be bloody scary when you think about those two up front.

You would have to hope Tee Dubs are trying hard to sign Ifill. Playing in a team trying to win the title would be better for him than running around with the kids for the Nix Juniors. Would think they could face stiff opposition from ACFC, the lure of playing a Club World Cup could be big for him.

so, who will teedubs sign next?

i think they need to sign peverley, fa'arodo and cowan to ensure continuity.

the list of 'outs' is quite large:

charlie henry's gone home

as has roy kayara

tom doyle to the phoenix

timmins to ??

someone mentioned chettleburgh is off to hawkes bay.  any truth in this?

lindsay almost certainly won't be back based on comments he recently made about rebuilding his career after a few years in wellington

i see that bertsch has transferred overseas

watson, gulley, blake and stevens are all transferring to the phoenix reserves
