Bring your boots on Sunday, you may get a run at the back.

It really sums up our national league when someone as average as Scott Hilliar jumps ship from one of our premier teams a couple of weeks before playoffs.

As cultured as Che Bunce's left foot and as profilic as John Lammers

Are there any "foreign player/import" rules in the Aus state leagues ?

3-1 win over West/Easts -

Hearing as many ins as outs wit TeeDubs

Turned out to be a remarkably straightforward win for TeeDubs. The change in shape, while it took about 15 mins to gel in, worked out superbly well, and once Payne was sent off the win was never in doubt. Have to say I expected more from Eastern Suburbs.

Who thanks guys! Man I love me some Ross Allen so gutted I missed it. What was the new shape? Who played at the back for Gulley and Hilliar?

ESAFC have seemed to demolish anyone underneath them but fall apart against the bigger teams, kind of expect that being as young and inexperienced as some are

Similar to how they used to line up under Calcott, guess you'd call it 4-2-2-2. Back four with Schrijvers and Hilliar in the middle and JHS and Molloy as fullbacks, two defensive midfielders in Ilich and Palezevic, two more advanced midfielders in Bevin and Clapham, and Allen and Kilkolly up front.

biggest failing from Team Wellington on Sunday was the BBQ - ran out of sausages BEFORE half time!!!!

The team did go and get some more but yes  a large,  unexpectedly hungry crowd.

You'd have to think Mitchell as an Aucklander, and ex Central would be in Wgtn with an eye on getting a Nix contract.

Pity didn't work for him in Europe.

Seemed to be highly rated with Bolton U23's, and had a trial at Walsall a few months back.

As per Joel Steven's recent experience, pro football can be a lot of luck.

You would think he's more likely to go down the Cam Lindsay/Luke Rowe way.

He was training with a Swedish side most recently, but their season doesn't start until April, so good way to keep match fitness up. Also guessing that he was at Central when Jose was there so could just be answering a SOS from old coach who has lost 3 significant defensive players in the last week or so

Actually not doing too badly, captain of 7th tier English side Bedworth - same level as Nik Tzanev, and one below where Brotherton was

Good point the Jose connection. Oh well he's put himself in the shop window in Wellington for a few months.

He'll find his pro football niche somewhere. Better prospect than the likes of Rowe, Luke Adams.

Stint in Serbian football, has hopefully given him a hard edge at an early age. Rudes would like that.

Based on what, exactly? A handful of appearances in Serbia second tier, where he clearly couldn't cut and was let go shortly thereafter? No first team appearances anywhere in over two years?

He never got in a first team squad at Bolton, but he was a main stay of their U23 side that won the English Professional Development League (a comp for various U23 sides) last season. When he was out injured (on his AWs debut v Canada) for a time, the Bolton U23s were struggling, him coming back from injury coincided with them going on a run to the title. Sure is only U23 football, but at that stage he was going well, and secured an off season trial at Walsall (League One). Admittedly he has been off the radar almost completely since. Injured? I have no idea.

Nick Robinson who pens Flying Kiwis and keeps a very close watch on NZ players overseas, often wrote on how well Mitchell seemed to be going at Bolton, picking up on comments from club staff etc.

From a NZ perspective, Schmid has picked him a few times now, along with Brotherton as all the senior CBs have been unavailable. But the NZF coaching staff must see something.

I know far from a perfect science, but if Brotherton can get signed by North Carolina FC in the USL (obviously helped yes by being an ex US College player), after barely featuring for Sunderland U23s - Mitchell will find a pro niche somewhere. May well be in USL as well as a start, about 11 new teams now in the US 2nd/3rd tiers.

I'd be surprised if games weren't on My Cujoo again, they also put highlight packages up the next day as well on youtube.

Yeah it's a shame I thought he was a great player. My guess is the French lad doesn't cut the mustard or we would have seen him by now unless he's injured?
