Hey Wolfben, is that the immortal Jimmy Sirrell on your avatar?
Sorry, but seen your new sig, must be him. He looks a bit like an uglier Eric Sykes in your pic.

I heard that McKenzie was going to Waikato, but after Fallon saw him in the cup final doesn't want him anymore. Can't imagine him signing for Welly.

Peni Finau And Osea Vaketalesau Have Officially Signed For Auckland City

Interesting signings for Auckland. Wasn't impressed with either of them for Manawatu so will be interested to see how they go for Auckland. It does give Auckland City a bigger size dimension this season. They now have Vicelich, Friel, Finau and Osea all tall men. Looks like they want to combat Waitak's size advantage.

So, let me get this straight.

Finau, Vakatalesau, Kumar, Suri, Alonso, Kim, Jordan, Young, Friel... the other Korean still around ? Sale ?

Ryan Nelsen won't be impressed.  They'll have less kiwi's in the starting line-up than the Phoenix at that rate.

even though manawatu are short on players they have still probably come out on top in this instance

I'm gunna play Devils advocate here and say they're good players. Osea didn't score any cause he had pretty crap service but was admittedly a bit shy of shooting and always tried to get in the perfect position. He was constantly dropping deep to get the ball, but I thought his link up play was great. I woulda definitely given him another chance frankly.

Finau needs to raise his concentration levels but other than that is a rock in defence. Think of him as a Vidic, he just needs a Ferdinand beside him.

I think everyone will be suprised about these two.

This is one of those WTF moments right?

Considering the quality of players they have been signing, this is a complete head scrather. I'm guessing that Colin is working on the theory of taking players that didn't perform from a team that didn't perform and putting them into a better team will transform them? Its a very long stretch with these two, can't score and no concetration equals no goals and red cards.....

Finau was skillful but gave the ball away far too often in dangerous positions and I lost count of the number of times he chopped players down in and around the penalty area. On balance more of a liability than an asset.
I'm inclined to agree about Osea. Why bother having a tall striker in the side if you never get any decent crosses in to him? On the other hand his finishing was woeful.
Nah, I won't miss either of them. Not like Menapi or Totori.

Alot of our play went through the middle as far as I remember, Nieres thrived on it but Osea not so much. Quansah just had no finishing product for all of his runs.

I think they both have potential but we will see I suppose.

The final Waikato trial, scheduled for Sunday, has been cancelled apparently. Wonder if that means they've decided on the squad

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Agreed. I never understood why we didn't play Roydhouse and Richardson in those wide positions as they had been so successful there the previous season. Admittedly Roydhouse was injured early on and then broke his leg.
They were exciting, young, local players and we never got to see the best of them. Instead we had Prince and Pablo..........

Ohh it was dead frustrating not seeing Richardson and Roydhouse used as they should be. They've both got real quality.

Sorry Green Calm Man  , but we now have two... should make for a hell of a noise when we invade Memorial Park which, incidently, is by far a better option than playing at the FMG.Far more atmosphere at Memorial.

Even though he is based in England at the moment as I have told you on a previous occassion Sam Wilkinson was talking to Canterbury United.  As he was on the verge of signing a contract with them he recieved an email from Hawkes Bays J Gould asking him if he was available for the Bay - tough decision for Sam to make, although with the Bay being the stronger outfit he might be able to get his own back on ACFC this season.

Cheers for that update Sam but how are you going to handle it with John yelling at you like he does telling you what we've been trying to tell you for the last few years?

This is excellent news!Sam is one of the most exciting players in nzfc and on his day unplayable!!I would have thought the big two would have been fighting it out for his signature but their loss will probably be Hawkes Bays gain!!Once again exciting news and a real lift for the league during this dark period!

How do you figure that one? He actually played with more discipline last year than at any other time, same with Greg Uhlman.

I could have picked at least 3 names that came before him.

How can anyone think that Sam is one of the most exciting players in the NZFC?????

Where in the pecking order would he come in regards to Young, Jordan, Totori, Krishna et all - come on Sam is  a one pace pony who never passes the ball forward and frankly will only ever be a bit part player in a strong NZFC squad.

Why would the big two want Sam - who does he replace in midfield - Ki, Vicelich, Coombes, Del Monte, Bale, Butler, Sale, Maemae, Campbell, Seaman, Adriano - I think the big two might know a bit more than we all do when it comes to Sam.

Googled Adriano Pimenta and he has a website and youtube clips, doubt its him though as why would he be coming to NZ.

This here from wiki tells me he can't be a bad player:

During the away leg of the qualifying match for the 2005/06 Champions League group stage against Malm FF Adriano scored the deciding goal in Thun's 1:0 win. He played in all 6 group stage matches for Thun and scored in the home match against Ajax Amsterdam to make the score 2:2 at the time. After the conclusion of the group stage FC Thun was in 3rd place and qualified to play in the UEFA Cup first knock-out stage. Adriano played in both matches against German club Hamburger SV and scored the winning goal in the 1:0 home win for Thun

This coming from a member of the "Bay Army" I suspect?
and i suppose racist chanting and abuse is not considered "Knobhead" behavior

Now listen here DICKHEAD TED ..you (or someone from Auckland) levelled that acusation at us last season and it was quickly pointed out to that person by several other Aucklanders that it was not the Bay Army making racist chants or abuse.Indeed no such chants rang out at all.It was narrowed down to a comment from  an of duty official on the other side of the ground. Apologise you jumped up piece of dog poo and stop trying to be clever.
