It’s also tough missing our best player in Saka and our best two full backs. I’m not convinced Eze coming off was the right call. Would rather have seen Zubimendi off and Rice going deeper.

2-1 against City in isolation is probably not too bad, and given the last few weeks on poor performances it could be seen as an improvement, but in terms of the league, which we literally must win, we are only 1 point ahead of City and they have the game in hand - we come second even if we and they win all their gams to come! To win the league they have to drop points and we cannot afford to.

I’ve got good news and bad news for you mate. Good news is we are 3 points ahead, not 1. Bad news is it’ll likely not be enough.

I live in hope.

We managed to put up more of a fight than I’d expected. Kind of like one of those Wenger “proud of the performance” days after going out of the CL.  But the league is over now.

What a difference it would have made if that Eze shot had gone in. The only player we have who can make something like that out of nothing. Such a shame we haven’t had him and Odegaard on the pitch together most of the season. And perhaps if we had a striker instead of Havertz.

CL feels unlikely but it’s 3 knockout games so if you can manage to not concede, and can keep Odegaard and Eze fit and playing you never know.

City win 1-0 so we are now equal on points and GD. Proper 5 match shootout now.

God dammit, Burnley had one, maybe two jobs, not to lose, and to injure Haaland.
Failed at both!
Now it's a true test of mental resilience, both squads have the squads to win the league, leadership and management will be the difference.

It’s amazing what a bad month can do to morale but I barely even feel a glimmer of belief ahead of tomorrows game.

I suppose the main cause for optimism is that, despite losing to City, Arsenal at least showed up for the game. Hoping that can happen tomorrow.

That was a tough watch. Great to get the three points but how long can we go on without scoring more than one goal in a game

I think we actually managed it quite well. We got an early goal and then didn't let them lay a glove on us. I think they had one chance in the second half but other than that I don't think they threatened us at all.
Though, I fully agree on scoring more goals bit. We could have had at least another couple if we have found the open man on transition.
But points on the board matter. We have them ATM and city don't. Now they are into the cup final, they've got two other games to arrange so it's not smooth sailing for them either.

at this stage of the season we did enough, Eze warned them with his left then scored with his right!
good to win, Newcastle were the toughest game in the final run home after City.
Can Everton do us any favours on Tuesday.

Hope the injuries to Kai and Eze aren't bad...

Big result. We just haven't got enough goals and are never going to score enough for goal difference to come into it. All we can do is win the games to put the pressure on and hope they slip up once.

Lovely goal. Eze is really the only player we have who can produce something from not much and just take a good shot from the edge of the box. Would go as far as saying it's all over if he's out. Just can't see any way a goal comes without him being somehow involved.

and yet there is only one goal in the goal difference category. We are +38 and City are +37. Whoever blinks first and drop points in the next month of fixtures loses the title.

Ultimately they are likely win their games by 2 or 3 while ours will probably all be as stressful as this morning was. If it comes down to goal difference we probably won't win. We need them to slip and draw a game.

I’m hoping having Saka back can help us unlock defences. He brings the spark more often than not.

As people have said, goal difference could kill us. Our tactics need to extend beyond  just winning as it’s not enough. Reckless though it sounds, we’ll need to take some calculated risks.

I know the perception is Man City batter teams but they only managed a 1-0 against all but relegated Burnley. The PL has become increasingly difficult to smash teams in as the floor has risen. It’s a big fortnight for us, if we handle it well we are 6 points clear at the top and into the CL final. Lads have got the first 3 points, bring on Wednesday.

Big game tonight for the men’s but it’s worth noting the ladies are on for a good season. They’re 2-1 up in the CL semi, and if they win their 3 games in hand will be 2nd behind city by 2 points with 2 games left to play. Both men’s and women’s team going deep in both competitions is something we should all be proud of!

Totally agrree. I caught some of the womens CL game, just the opposite of the men ay. They are highly fluid and a little bit chaotic, buts it's working for them. Hope they can continue to push on for the rest of the season.
