that drogba injury was amongst the scariest ive seen. seeing him fall face down already unconcious was really worrying.

In slow motion, made it look a bad incident look even worse. My stomach sank watching it. First time for me watching a game where there is more than 10 minutes of added time at the end.

...for stoppages...

yea there were 12 or so mins after the reading game where cech and cudicini got injured but you dont see that alot at all

stupid international break now, dumb. still, gives cech time to recover, should be ok in time for man utd. david luiz resumed full training last week so thats a positive too. if we had a game this weekend drogba too may have been in doubt

what did others think of drogba and torres up front together? there were some positive moments i thought, i think, given time, it could work. and the thing with our other strikers is that they can play in a front 3 so gives some more options off the bench

yup. his passing was nice, accurate and most importantly it was quick. quick passes in the opposition 3rd is what we have been lacking so i think hes guna bring alot to the team.

his speed to pounce on the loose pass and finish calmly was real impressive

yes just reading now about possible transfer dealings. hoping malouda doesnt go, got a shirt of his  start of last season but to be fair he hes been a bit average last 18 months and think we could get by without him. though could be lacking width without him?

anelka has actually been pretty good this season but is getting on age wise and with youngsters like sturridge and lukaku coming through room has to be made.

i also see we have made a bid for meireiles (sp? ). im not too interested in him to be honest, just doesnt get me too excited. having said that i dont watch him every week so could be underselling him

righteo, here we go

Meireles; Reasonable addition, not overly excited by this but good to add a bit more depth to central midfield.

Yossi; Not often you see loans between the top four clubs, he was quite unlucky last year, started well but then injured his achillies. had he been fit he would most likely have played a decent amount given our lack of depth in midfield last season.

Kakuta; Very good move for him going to bolton. will hopefully see some decent game time under owen coyles attacking system. sturridge did well there last season so hoping kakuta does the same.

Van Aanholt; A loan move to another prem outfit is ideal for him. has been loaned to championship sides in the past and done well but its a big step up to the prem league. im sure at wigan he will have lots of work to do on defense as well.

Davila; Off to vitesse, where we send a lot of youngsters. needs to acclimatise to european football so a good move for him.

yes depth is something we were sorely lacking last season. we had the likes of maceachran and kakuta on the bench for quite a few games and whilst very talented it was asking alot of them to come on in big games and help swing the result.

our depth was a huge factior in the 2 titles we got under mourinho. trouble is, its a fine line between good depth and dissatisfied players. we had the likes of tiago and scott parker leave cos of it.

so lets hope avb can manage the squad well enough to keep everyone happy

we looked alot better in the first half. mata was really good, excited to see him get better. defence still a bit shakey, but overall i was far more impressed with todays peformance.

So apparently Torres has come out criticizing other players in the squad. Hes hardly in a position to be doing the criticizing is he.

those 2 goals were lovely. really nice work from luiz in the lead up to his and a really top finish. mata was good throughout and really did deserve a goal. stoked to see torres set both up, will do his confidence the world of good. mata's goal especially was a nice assist, could easily have shot himself, very unselfish.

sturridge, torres, anelka, mata and mikel all looked very good.

right, now man utd on the weekend. oh boy, thats a pretty daunting fixture that at OT. i will gladly take a point from that

I think you lads are getting goal envy.   As good as Man U are, you've got a great team and the best young manager in the game.  A win is possible, and a draw rather likely.

is that Lampards last game......way off the pace today
Permalink Permalink
over 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
that was a strange game, best we have looked all season and we somehow find ourselves down 3-0 at halftime. the smalling goal should really have been called offside, was pretty obvious but that happens.

im really worried now that the confidence torres gained from his really niicely taken goal will be eroded, and then some, by his woeful miss.

really gutting to lose a game in which we were so competitave but if we continue to play like that i think the future is bright.

What's the difference between Fernando Torres and Wayne Bridge? John Terry appreciates Wayne Bridge's missus.
