Liverpool this weekend. This game has me worried. Usually would be happy enough with a draw in this fixture but with our losses to QPR and Arsenal i don't really think we can afford to drop more points if we are to stay in touch with the leaders.

It is at home though so that ought to help, though that's what i was thinking heading into the Arsenal game.

Should be a good game, tbh. Hopefully we can limit the time Mata has on the ball. Fat Frank been in decent scoring form of late? Which is a plus for you. Depends which Liverpool decides to turn up as to how it pans out  got a feeling it'll be another high-scoring encounter; which means its got 0-0 written all over it!

Massive game though, looking forward to it.

Yea hopefully we can get mata and cole into space down the left and sturridge in space down the right like we did early on against arsenal. hopefully we this time though we can get some decent balls into torres.

So in the wake of all that civil unrest and shooting in Ivory Coast a couple of months back the Govt swore in a truth reconciliation and dialogue commission. Drogba is a member of the dialogue commission along with politicians and chiefs representing different parts of the country. He represents all the Ivorians living abroad.

Good on him

f**k we are rubbish. completely ineffectual for large periods of the game. we dont even look close to being able to beat another top 5 club and at this rate we are going to seriously struggle to finish in a champions league spot.

f**king woeful.

Chelsea January bid for Maxi Rodriguez on the cards?

Peter Cech looks hilarious with his head gear and now his stupid looking nose guard. You have to wonder just how much protection he gets form it. It seemed to move around a lot.

Its no longer a problem.

you ghave to wonder about a keeper's confidence when he is wearing all that head gear. I mean sure getting hit in the ehad is not fun, but he must be a nervous wreck every time he gets close to the opposition strikers.

Queenslander 3x a year.

the years should probably be changed given that his head injury occured in 2006.

Just quietly how much longer has Czech got between the sticks? New keeper in January?

Oh, and just because you're loosing at home to Arsenal & Liverpool I don't think you've got just cause to sack him. Keep him, he's the new Pep, just a less home grown team.

ill be f**ked off if we sack AVB. He needs time to mould his team, learn from his mistakes and what not. i like the faith the man city owners have shown in mancini. hopefully we show that sort of faith in AVB.

however if we finish like 7th or worse this season then maybe... or if we play this sh*t for 3 seasons on the trot

As if he will get three seasons to prove himself, this is Chelsea we're talking about.

Are you a confused black man buffy?

He's young, ambitious, and has the squad and ability to win trophies, just needs time. Pep's done it with a lot of home grown players. He's going to do it with a lot of $$.

He won a piss easy Portuguese league and everyone thinks he's the messiah. Vasty, vasty overrated and tactically inept. Still hasn't figured out his best 11 or formation even though he has had 5 months.

Oh and as for having the squad, not until he gets rid of the old guard of JT and fat Lamps. Those two are a cancer and have a sick hold on the team and club.

thats pretty harsh. sure there are questions marks over JT at the moment ill give you that. but lamps has been pretty good. only 2 seasons ago he scored 26 goals and last season he got 13. rate him or not he does step up and deliver on a more regular basis than any other midfielder we have.

but yes, we do need to start planning for the future.

pretty vital game this morning. im not too confident tbh. a win will see us through to the knockout stages for the 9th consecutive season which is a decent effort.

want to see torres start up front with mata and sturridge alongside.

Pat Nevin who writes for the Chelsea website was suggesting a new formation. a 4 2 3 1 along the lines of

                   Cech

   Ivanovic  Alex  Terry  Cole

     Romeu/Luiz     lampard

Sturridge/McEachran  Mata  Merelies

                    Torres

I like the formation. Not so sure about Luiz there. Romeu is young and needs more game time but from what ive seen and heard he is already pushing for a first team spot. There are already talks from some that he is better than Mikel.

I like the idea of 3 in behind Torres. When he has had good service this season hes looked very good. Merelies and Mata have already shown they have the ability to break a game open with their passes. McEachran too has a very impressive passing vision to him.

Could be a formation for the future anyway.

That is jsut the result we needed. A nice, comfortable win and a clean sheet. Mata and Sturridge were fantastic up front. Romeu was very good, comfortable and assured on the ball. He didn't shy away and was often  calling for the ball. He constantly made himself available for a pass and generaly looks the goods.

Not a bad weekend for us, picking up 2 points on city, united, liverpool, arsenal and newcastle.

Liverpool League Cup quarter final this week. Its only the league cup so not overly concerned but would still be nice to win and head into the semis

Would appear that Drogba has turned down a 1 year contract extension. I love the guy and would certainly love it if he were to see out his playing days with us. At 33 his first team chances are getting less but would be a very suitable super sub type player and must surely be of huge help at training with the likes of Sturridge and Lukaku.

However, if he wants to leave then so be it. I feel we have enough depth to deal with his departure.

Gah. 2-0 down with 14 to go.

Looks like thats the carling cup over for another season. thats disappointing. we just really lack something when playing the other top teams at the moment.

Must admit though i do have one eye on the prem game this weekend away to newcastle. that will be a very tough game. if we can get the 3 points there i will be a little more confident about where we are at. then the massive game vs valencia mid week then man city at home after that.

very big week that could well shape how our season turns out

Our December fixtures;

Newcastle away. Prem.
Valencia home. UCL.
Manchester City home. Prem.
Wigan away. Prem.
Tottenham away. Prem.
Fulham home. Prem.
Aston Villa home. Prem.

That's a fairly tough group of games. Given our current form I don't see any of those games being easy, apart from maybe the trip to Wigan. (well i hope with the players at our disposal that will be somewhat easy).

Sam Hutchinson has signed a 1.5 year contract. Really good to see him back playing football again. Hope he can make it back to the first team.
