brilliant game.
Busy week ahead, Benfica in UCL, Wigan and Fulham in EPL, and Spurs in FA Cup all within the space of 11 days!
Let's hope Torres has his magic back now

Awesome!!! Semi finals for the 6th time in the last 9 seasons!

Sounds as though the ref had quite a shocker

Wigan tonight. Really should be aiming to get the 3 points from this one. We have looked a lot better recently so actually feeling a little more confident about things right now, even if we do miss out on champions league.

My mate got tickets to the Chelsea v Barca game, lucky twat.

Man we made that harder than it needed to be. Mata really should have scored in the first half and drogba should have done better with the follow up. Or first goal was offside so that was harsh on Wigan but thats football. In any case we could have had a penalty when Caldwell handled the ball.

Really really stoked with the 3 points. Just gotta keep the pressure on arsenal and spurs.

Fulham away in the morning. Really need to be playing better than we did against Wigan if we are going to push for fourth. Would like to see Torres given the start.

that could've ended better, was really hoping for 3 points there. You win this round TAB

Permalink Permalink

That really was pathetic. With Tottenham losing this was a glorious chance to go even points with 4th. If ever there was a game we would get up for i would hope it was this. Instead we go to Fulham and get outplayed for pretty much the full 90 minutes.

Really disappointed with this result. We are going to have to show a lot more desire and hunger in the 2 big semi finals we have coming up.

2012/13 home and keeper kit launched http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2731614,00.html
I like the keeper kit, the new home kit isn't much to get excited about

Yea that keeper kit is very nice, already have a Cech  shirt so will probably leave it at that. I do like the home shirt though. At first it looks kinda plain but then the more i look at it the nicer it gets.

Well that was outstanding!! I really didn't see that scoreline coming.

Drogba was immense all game and that goal was superbly taken. He really bossed Gallas.

I don't think the Mata goal crossed the line and i don't know how the ref could have seen otherwise but there you go, ill take it.

As for the Tottenham goal, should Cech have been given red? Technically he didn't deny the goal as it was scored anyway but i don't think there would be any complaints had he been given red.

Our next 3 games were all so nicely taken, that freekick was beautiful, though Cudicini should really have done better.

Just the sort of performance we needed to give the squad confidence heading into Barcelona and Arsenal this week. Hopefully Tottenham never recover and we slip into 4th place aswell.

Did Cech even get a yellow? What with Luiz crying like a bitch I didn't see...

Fantastic! I don't think Mata's goal should've been awarded, but the other 5 looked great from here!
Next up Liverpool, c'mon you Blues!

Luiz stuffed his hamstring and probably wont make Barca on Wednesday

nope.

If the referee applies advantage during an obvious goalscoring opportunity and

a goal is scored directly, despite the opponents handling the ball or fouling an

opponent, the player cannot be sent off but he may still be cautioned.

Ah yes, i wasn't sure of the rules myself regarding this.

Can the ref give advantage in another area of play and come back and send someone off?

Permalink Permalink
almost 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
nope.  See below.  Explusion = red, caution = yellow

The referee should consider the following circumstances in deciding whether to apply the advantage or stop play:
the severity of the offence: if the infringement warrants an expulsion, the referee must stop play and send off the player unless there is a subsequent opportunity to score a goal

the position where the offence was committed: the closer to the opponents goal, the more effective it can be

the chances of an immediate, promising attack

 the atmosphere of the match

The decision to penalise the original offence must be taken within a few seconds.

If the offence warrants a caution, it must be issued at the next stoppage. However, unless there is a clear advantage, it is recommended that the referee stops play and cautions the player immediately. If the caution is NOT issued at the next stoppage, it cannot be shown later.

Marginal. Chelsea fans would argue its well over, Spurs fans would argue its 90% over. I'd say based on that image alone it's gone over and is a fair goal.brumbys2012-04-16 13:11:14

But surely John Terry committed a foul in the build-up as well?

So forgive my ignorance, but who was the "murderers" chant from some Chelsea fans during the moments silence directed at? The police? The FA? Something to do with Hillsborough I believe, but I haven't seen an explanation anywhere.

I understand this may be a touchy issue and I don't want to offend anyone but I'm just geniunely curious, and feeling like it should be obvious for some reason...

Yea I'm not too sure to be honest. I couldn't make out what they were saying. Just figured it was some f**kwits being f**kwits so didn't think much more of it.

Sadly, as we all know, in any facet of life, sporting or otherwise there are f**kwits who will be f**kwits. That's life.

Come on Giddyup. No call for that comment. I know you may be sore at us after the weekend but seriously... You should know the moment's silence was to honour the memories of the 96 people who supported Liverpool, and affected families of Everton supporters too.

I think he was saying the the Chelsea fans were saying the Liverpool fans were murderers, and that those Chelsea fans had no class.

Yeah that's horrible. Not to mention stupid when Liverpool weren't even playing. Must suck to be a Chelsea fan and have such disrespectful morons associated with you. My condolences

Thank you Wigan! Couldn't believe the result when I saw it!
Still very tight between 3rd and 6th. We need a win against the Arse on Saturday, we could still climb back to the top four yet!

Man such a huge game this morning. Oddly enough though, im not that nervous. Maybe because they are such heavy favourites i dont know.

We haven't lost to them in our last 5 meetings and of the 60 teams Messi has played competitavly we are one of 8 he has never scored against. In fact, no other team has stopped him 6 times.

Hopefully we can at least have something to play for away next week.

Our lineup; Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Lampaard, Mikel, Meireles, Ramires, Mata, Drogba.
