New manager settling in.  Has added a couple of players that suit his style and Us clearly able to grind out away draws.  Old strategy draw away win at home and playoffs a certainty.

Division is tough this year though and noone will touch Charlton and Leeds now.

Tonites game will show where ColU sit when we play Charlton at home.......

Well 3-0 result Orpewise so it looks like your U's are not going to be too far off the pace at all. I didn't see CAFC hitting the ground that hard really. By all accounts we were dire and couldn't stop your route 1 game.

ColU learnt on our first promotion run to the Championship that to win Div 1 you need physical prescence up front.  That time it was big Chris Iwelumo this time we have several!
Not just route 1 but guys who will get on the end of crosses and passes and not be bundled off.

Charlton probably used to higher level styles were simply run over according to my friends who were there.

Beating Huddersfield was good as they are difficult to beat.

Col U really going well now just the blip at Brentford to concern us.  Wins away wins at home looking really solid.  Will be tough though with Leeds, Charlton and Norwich all having bigger squads bigger support and more resources.

Looks like Leeds and Charlton are away for the two automatic slots and that Col U and Norwich will be favourites to contest the play off place.  Huddersfield, Dons and maybe Bristol Rovers for the other two places in play offs.

Boothroyd is proving to be an astute manager balancing the resources we have.  Probably be a bit of a clear out in Jan with several players from past managers squads currently out of favour and likely to be sold to their current loan host clubs.  Maybe one or two in (from previous Boothroyd clubs?!!) in Jan too.  Crowds OK but not enough to generate Championship football...growth needed.

Hype over gamr against Norwich in Jan is already in full flight with Chairmen admitting he hates Norwich and is desperate for us to win!  This is likely to be THE game of the season.

7th heaven !  Away win at Brighton was perhaps expected but to win 2-1 at Sarfend and then beat Southanpton 2-1 at home is sheer rapture!!  Real contenders now not just for play offs but for the promotion spill.  Roll on the Norwich game.......

One day away...the game of this season ColU versus Norwich.  The new stadium fully sold out (first time ever), featured match on TV, sledging in full flight......

IF ColU win then promotion dog fight is really on with four teams for two automatic places....ColU, Norwich, Charlton and Leeds.  Leeds have the advantage currently.

Massive difference in funds available and crowd support size between ColU and others......

Just read the review of the game.Quite some history with Lambert and the 7-1 from earlier in the season.
Disappointing would be an understatement.

I watched the highlights online but the pitch was horrible. I'll see if I can download it and post it somewhere!

The loyal ColU fans chanted support for the Chairman and manager right to the end....no turncoats at our place.

We will continue to battle the bigger clubs for this promotion right to the end.

I am told the story is that Norwich scored two good goals and from there the Us tried to chase and get back and left themselves open for more...in the end 2-0 and 5-0 mean little as ColU have (had) a great goal difference.

Yeah, gotta agree with ya the wheels a falling off Leeds One win in seven now! Grayson needs to give those boys a good shake up otherwise they aren't going to be in the automatic promotion places

Wins away at Yeovil and at home to Oldham make us serious contenders now...third and closing....also our run in is not the worst by any means having played most of the top teams....just Charlton away and Swindon at home to go; most of the others midtable and lower teams.

Yeah Swindon's the one you gotta be careful of... they've been sweeping up the table without too much hooplar.... They're ones I'd be worried about now.

Hey guys.  I searched for Colchester on the boards and only found a post about one of the FA Cup ties.

So I set up my own U's thread and it got closed, so apologies if I broke the rules!

To re-introduce myself...

I'm a first generation Kiwi, but my folks were from the UK, and Dad was a proud Colchester lad.  Mum also spent a great deal of her early life in that town.

A couple of years ago, my wife and I went to the UK on our O.E. and an old friend of Dad's contacted the club.  They put an article about us in their match day programme, which was really touching, as Dad had passed away the year before.

I only found out later that if I'd been in touch with the club earlier, they would have given me a tour of their facilities!

The stadium was half empty for the match we went to, but it was still a louder and more cohesive atmosphere than a regular Warriors match, despite having a fraction of the number of people.

Now, onto season 2010/2011...

I'm optimistic about our chances.  We're currently sitting 7th, one spot outside the playoffs, but we're only 3 competition points behind 2nd place.

Unfortunately we're facing table topping Brighton next, so that'll be a challenge...although that match has been postponed because of the snow.

Does anyone know who we're facing in the 3rd round of the FA Cup?

no worries about the rules - just good to get your (small but perfectly formed) lot into one conversation

All good, tigers.  (I can't complain when you call us perfectly formed!) :D

I just popped over to the BBC website to see that Tierney is still another fortnight or so away from returning.  Tom Williams has extended his loan stay until the end of the month.  Can Anyone shed some light on how he's been playing?

I'm not sure if my fellow U's supporters are still lurking, but we got a goalless draw against Yeovil on the weekend, which was enought o push us up into 6th place and playoff contention.

There's still a lot of football to be played, but with a win over lowly Bristol Rovers this coming week, it'd be nice to still be in playoff contention on Christmas Day.

Also, it looks Tom Williams (mentioned in my previous post) will be a free agent come January 1, so it'll be interesting to see if Colchester decides to pick him up.
