According to my mate who watched the game, a certain Chris Killen was 'at it' when he came on in the same Celtic game, despite having already seen his team mate sent off for it!!
 
Apparently the commentators said of Killen's "As blatant a dive as you're ever likely to see".

And apparently Mowbray refused to look at the TV during his post-match interview when they were replaying the dive because he had already seen it at the time and believed it wasn't a dive despite the fact all and sundry have said the decision was correct!!

i'm all for dudu get 2 game ban for diving BUT only if they do it to every other player in champs league too, How will greasy get goals now??? as goes for Stevie as well, how many times did this 2 lads dive last season

Killen probably dived 0 times since he was never on the pitch, but McGeady is a cheat so probably every game for him! Ban him for life I say!!!

I think, similar to Masch getting a huge example made out of him with his sending off at OT a couiple of seasons ago, they are making a big deal out of the incident. With Masch, he got a massive fuss made of him, whereas Rooney swears at the ref every 20 minutes and gets away with it. It really annoyed me at the time (coupled with the result!) and I could see why Arsenal fans are annoyed.

This thread is a bit of farce (as someone said earlier), because all Gooners will defend him and everyone else who hates ARSEnal (everyone else) will call him a cheat and that he deserved it...

Actually speaking of Eduardo and tackles breaking legs, check this link out, it was on Crowd Goes Wild the other night, it is horrific, probably THE WORST tackle i have ever seen.

The guy had two clean breaks in his lower leg and will never play again; the game was between Anderlecht & Standard Leige in the top flight league in Belgium...

I'm an Arsenal fan (my second club after the Swans) and I was appalled at the Eduardo dive. Football karma restored the next game with the own goal against ManYoo though methinks.
Diving, and rolling around like a three year old after getting a tap, are the two blights on the game, which should be banned out of the game - by which I mean the perpertrators get a decent stint on the sideline for each offence. Eduard should get at least a month, and the next offence three months. As soon as they start banning the b*stards the quicker we'll be rid of it.

I watched the Man Utd vs Arsenal game surrounded by free alcohol, so my recollection is a little hazy, but did Rooney not dive to win the penalty in that game?  He was practically horizontal before there was any contact with Almunea - anticipating the challenge I believe the current phrase is.  It seems to me that Eduardo did the same, but Borac did better at pulling away to avoid significant impact, but that was the only difference.  Why is Rooney not getting lambasted by everyone?

Rooney is English, apparently all English footballers are pure as the driven snow and can do no wrong (except Joey Barton, but the fact he isn't in jail is still a mystery to me)

it was a disgraceful dive by Rooney
and he has prior form

the point is
it's not about me supporting Arsenal or whoever or you cheering liverpool

I want to see the game cleaned up and are more than happy for the Eduardo incident to be the catalyst
but the application of the decision and rulings around this incident must carry over

the la liga and serie a lads will be out for a while...... while didnt they do this with ronaldo???????? i ok with the ban like most gunners fans but like you said i want them to be consistent. Lets see if someone dives in the 1/8 finals and gets banned for the semi and final

It was his second yellow, and therefore a red card so no retrospective punishment take place. Of course all Celtic fans, players, and management don't believe it was a dive whereas the rest of Scotland thinks it was

A manager shouldn't encourage his players to cheat, in fact he should discourage them.
 
I think most managers (and I have seen it happen) would be saying something like "I've had a look at the replays, and I'll be having a word with him" rather than flat out denying what is blindingly obvious and making yourself look stupid.

I can't recall Wenger ever encouraging diving..or cheating of any kind?

All he did was not jump down eduardo's throat in the media, i.e. he showed loyalty to his player by not publicly blasting him. The only thing Wenger has commented on is the ban. 

 I don't think Wenger could find any way to care less if some people thought he made 'himself look stupid' (which i have not heard from any one else yet?), his players will still respect him for not condemning them in the media, and i'm sure he doesn't care about anything else.

It's not that unusual outwith 'the big 4' for starters. When a Hibs player dived a couple of years ago the captain of the team stormed over and pulled him back up to his feet!
 
I can't remember a specific example, but I've definitely heard managers who are actually honest and are disappointed with their players cheating.

I've yet to read or hear Wenger say it was not a dive
he asked for it to be proven
which may be legalese small print
and asked why this is the starting point and what else will follow

has Messi or Ibrahimovic been charged from the Super-Cup?

Most of the people saying eduardo deserves to be banned cited their main reasons as "diving needs to be rubbed out of the game" or "these people are cheats and it's about time this started"
 
As you can see here this will not be the case. Uefa have given no reasoning around this ban and have stated that no anti-diving directives or post-match video reviews will be undertaken in future.
 
Basically this shows what a ridiculous waste of time this exercise has been, and for us that said this was a stupid decision, we have been proven correct.

There is no way, after EVERY single match, that a game will be reviewed from k.o. to extra time to look at acts of simulation.

It's a witch hunt and sadly Dudu was playing in a game where enough important(?) parties have complained. It definitely helped that the game was between British teams as Platini get's a shot at the game up here. If a continental team had included the simulating player we would all have forgotten about it by now and moved on to seeing how Kris Bright is getting on at Shrewsbury Town.

So Eduardo didn't go down with the intent of winning a penalty? Wenger should maybe retire because the pressure of it all is obviously having an effect on his brain.

The point is that there are some managers who would not be and have not been happy at players diving - just because you don't see blinkered idiots like Rafa, Ferguson and Wenger doing this, doesn't mean there aren't managers without some objectivity out there.

Not quite. It's not the issue of contact/no contact, but one of intent. Wenger is saying that Eduardo's fall does not necessarily mean that he inteneded to win a penalty and deceive the referee (as an example, it could be argued that he was just doing his best to avoid contact being mindful of the injury he had suffered on his ankle two years ago). There's no clear evidence that Eduardo deliberately looked for a penalty (he did not appeal for a foul at the time). That's what Wenger's statements are about, not whether there was contact or not.

Well personally I find what Wenger is saying laughable - why would he appeal when the penalty was given straight away? Perhaps he didn't appeal because he knew it wasn't a foul?
 
It is complete and utter nonsense to suggest that it wasn't a dive.
 
Celtic have been using the "avoiding contact" argument re: McGeady but for the life of me I can't see why avoiding contact with someone has to involve falling over? If we did that we'd all be rolling about on Lambton Quay for every 5 yards we walked!
