Liverpool Thread - Premier League Champions* 2019/20 (Part 1)
But, as soon as 51 minutes came around, the Liverpool boys stopped playing and just kept looking for fouls. If I was supporting a team that kept giving the ball away by throwing themselves to the floor instead of playing it, that would really frustrate me.
Like that time when Gerrard went round Song at about 80 minutes, Song didn't have even a finger on Stevie and yet, he threw his arms up and looked for a foul. If he had just kept going, he had got round Song and probably had a decent look at goal/playing Torres in. Quite bemusing.
It was one of those 'toys-out-of-the-pram' moments where nothing was going his way so he decided to act like a toddler.
Pathetic.
Three for me, and two for them.
we actually are, go look in the United thread
I'd rather not. It's chilly cold in that thread...
Fair call on the 80min drop by Stevie. I guess when you're backs against the wall you look for anything (players and supporters alike)
. Definitely was a penalty. Really two mistakes by Glen Johnson for the two goals. Arsharvin shots seem to be hit perfectly every time he steps on Anfield. Arsenal were pants, with exception of Vermaelen who was a beast at the back. Generally looked good all-round, Lucas looked comfortable, Agger was good. Benayoun was pretty poor though and Aquilani didn't seem to fit in the formation when he came on.

Fixed.
. Definitely was a penalty. It.was.a.filthy.dive. Gerrard had no answer to the Arsenal defence so had to resort to diving. Fact.
maybe the name of this thread should be changed to "Leeds United II thread"

Whether it was Gerrards previous record of going down a little too easily that sowed doubt in the mind of Englands top-rated referee, or just a poor viewing angle, the correct decision was not made and Liverpool lost a chance to take the lead.
Flashpoint: The ball has gone but Gallas clearly halts Gerrard in his tracks
The reason was certainly not that offered by Gallass colleague
Thomas Vermaelen, who claimed it couldnt have been a foul as the ball
had travelled too far away from the Liverpool skipper.
If the ball is in play anywhere on the field then a penalty can be given.
and that should have been a penalty
Gerrard was going for the ball, Gallas was too late
FWIW though, it's about time Arsenal got a fair suck of the sav regarding big game decisions

normally we get the raw end of the deal
as for prior form, surely the Ref has too take it as the play unfolds. We can't have well it's Rooney ( or whoever) so no penalty.
which is why , now for than ever, we need video citing post match to punish flagrant acts of unsportsmanlike charlatanism.
E's Flat Ah's Flat Too

I like to see Liverpool lose more than Arsenal. Actually, I hate Liverpool.. Arsenal I only dislike.
It's the fans that get me SB. Delusional beyond belief. You need look no further than linds post on the previous page for an example of this. We were everything Liverpool dream to be in that second half. Clinical, efficient, determined and playing as a collective unit. We fought back with a venegance and how!!
Still, it is the festive season, so lets give the dippers some hope. You still have the best striker in the world, the best midfielder in the world and a world class keeper between the sticks. And Rafa is a world class manager. Of course you are better than United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Hell, you may even be better than Villa (stretching it).
Good luck with trying to win the Carling Cup of Europe, despite not even being one of the top 10 teams left in the comp, all those Special Nights at Anfield will surely spur you on to victory over the much more fancied opponents like Unirea Urziceni and Rubin Kazan.
Three for me, and two for them.
Good luck
I don't mind banter, but you're out of line by attacking us personally by reading a few off the cuff comments.
Aside: Until catching up with the rubbish up-thread, I was going to say something about the silver lining being that Arsenal is still challenging ManU & Chelsea. Can't say I care now.

Did you know?
Liverpool's Kop End at Anfield was named after Spioenkop (Spy Hill) in KwaZulu-Natal. The Lancashire Brigade comprised the largest part of the British Forces during the Battle of Spioenkop and when they returned to Britain the earth mound at Anfield (used by spectators to get a clear view of the game, before any of the stands were build) reminded them of Spioenkop
Its no longer a problem.
1st of all - it was a pen. FACT.
First of all besides eduardo vs. celtic and eboue vs. man united, all those incidents on the videos are from more than 2 seasons ago + they are made by a manchester united fan. Nuff said.
Ok, now if you feel like scrolling back a few pages on the Arsenal thread you will see that when Eduardo dived against Celtic, we all acknowledged it was a dive immediately and our comments towards him weren't exactly supportive. The same applies to Eboue against Manchester United, we all abused him for wasting possession in such a situation, oh and for being a diving c**t in general. That's just him. Anyways, what I'm saying is, we criticise our players when they dive too - maybe not as aggressively as we do Stevie + 'Nando - but we aren't completely blind to it.
ha ha very good...kick a man when he's down. Well thanks for at least making me feel at home so soon after arriving in NZ. I've had the pleasure of being surrounded by 'knowledgeable' L'Arse fans for many years living so close to the Emirates...
I normally think of your lads as the lesser of the four evils and hope to continue in that belief.

All the best against Wigan.
