No! Its more about the connection of the club, the city and the fans. Given that I've never been to Liverpool, perhaps its stupid to put it up. But I like the idea!

As I recall the lyrics, "the Internationale unites the human race", not just people from Liverpool.  It's true that there's something generally decent and humane about working together, whether it's to play football, manufacture penicillin or overhaul a locomotive - and that does constitute a connection with the people who benefit from the endeavour.  You (and Torres) have just as much a right to the Reds as anyone born in Liverpool.

To all Liverpool fans,

I know we don't always see eye to eye, and i love to stick it to you lot, but i just wanted to wish you all a very merry christmas and a safe and happy new year. Without you, i'd only have the Plastic United lot to wind up, oh, and the Spuds, but they're too easy.

Anyway i wish you the best of luck with your football following over this period. Hope Santa or Rafa (one's a mythical creature with a large wastline who enjoys giving away gifts, the other is Santa Claus ) brings you lots of Xmas joy in the form of points.

All the best,

Buffy

Merry Chrimbo Redmen! Good result this morning. Class from Gerrard, Aquilani got some game time, Pacheco is class, Torres didn't look happy, Stevie scored- f**k the haters! All-in-all, a much needed three points. Our season starts here!!

Villa next, then Spurs. Tough stuff.

Line up announced: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Insua, Benayoun, Lucas, Aquilani, Kuyt, Gerrard, Torres. Subs: Cavalieri, Skrtel, Aurelio, Kyrgiakos, Babel, Ngog, Spearing.

Hopefully Aquaman's over his niggles. It'll be good to see him with some more solid game time.

A little bias maybe but I think we've had the edge. both sides had plenty of chances, just nothing going in the net...

villa have been bossing the last 20 mins no question. Shoulda scored a couple of times, unlucky not to get a pen for insua's unco-ordination

edit: Perennial strugglers Liverpool are creating a few chances now though to be fair... its end to end all of a sudden

Tbf they kinda did deserve that. Villa were absolute garbage. Their tactics were garbage, there was no passion or determination. They had nothing. In saying that Perennial strugglers Liverpool were no better.

On that performance both sides can forget about anything to do with the top four this season. I hope Spurs get it now.

No. At least they play decent football. Rather them ahead of Mancini City anyway.

i think Perennial strugglers Liverpool will get it for sure. perhaps man city as an outsider

You guys have been panicking too  much - at this time last year arsenal were 3 points adrift of villa, and with as little as 12 games to go we were 5 points off the top four...

It's just I liken it to me cheering on Perennial strugglers Liverpool  (highly unlikely)

It's gotta be good for confidence. Nice to gain some momentum too. Still quite a bit of work to make the top 4 though. Maybe if we sign Villa, Silva, Toni, Van Nistelroy, we will scrape in to fourth!!!

Huge points, Torres took goal well. Reina again very good, probably been our best player this season. Looked second best in this game, but eh 3 points in difficult conditions.

Bring on the window and a new signing or two. As for Toni and Van Nistelrooij link don't want either: never rated Toni (as really only seen him play for the Itai's and he is always absolute crap) and no to RVN.

Interested to see what comes of Arda Turan rumours & maybe we can get in ahead of CSKA to get Keisuke Honda.

Oh, also Congrats to Fernando Torres 50 league goals.

Linds why no to Horse face? Apart from having history with the Mancs, wouldn't he be ideal as the type of player we are looking for? Agree though, they were huge points. How far away is Riera?

And RvN? To be fair, that was without penalties/free kicks, so good on you, Nando!

Absolute quality. As you say, Reina kept us in the game! Lucas bossed it, and it was great to hear the fans singing his name so soon after Torres' winner. Aquilani had some pretty nice touches and he looks like a really quality player (Contrary to Mr Holt's beliefs... Prick). Stevie was looking more and more in the mood. Rafa's dig at the journalists was pure quality!! Oh, and Insua was really impressive too. Well chuffed with the 3 points in what was a massive game! Bad news about GJ being out for quite a while- medial ligament damage or something.

I have a Turkish friend who always tells me that we should sign Arda Turan! But he won't come cheap.
